Ok, let's speculate: Since it's the year of Luigi, what if the next 3D console Mario game is in fact... Super Luigi Galaxy? Releasing Super Luigi U and Luigis Mansion 2 is maybe not enough to make it a "Year" of Luigi.

I think YoL will basically end after the retail release of NSLU. I mean, they've got Wind Waker, Sonic, Mario Kart, Super Mario and who knows what else in the back half of the year. They aren't going to divert resources from those games to promote Luigi.

Year of Luigi was basically an easy marketing ploy to make it look like something was going on in the barren 1st half of 2013.
It was pretty awesome though

Nintendo is, shockingly, the most progressive company of the Big 3 in terms of social media. They've pretty much abandoned traditional means of communication. You can argue rather or not its more or less effective; personally I love it.
Miiverse is on PC (I'm always connected now, always a tab with it at work) and smartphone. It says everything.

You guys wanted boxes?

12 game announcements - 2 MEGATONS

Fuck spike.. so some bros won't see the conference who cares...this holiday season folks buying their games find their info from actual stores..my mother for example has no idea what an e3 is or ever turn on spike though she will go to a store and ask an employee what new game is out or whatever..plus Internet is the way to go especially their adverts on Facebook. kids will be asking for it when they see commercials on Cartoon Network and crap which is all the presence they really need on tv..

OK, you guys are right, you reach more people with just social media, than you would with social media + TV.

For what it's worth, I completely agree with your complaints.

Nintendo should be exploiting all forms of media. Every viewer counts, from the hardcore gamer who will tune in purposefully to the average channel-flipper.

For whatever reason, they disagree.

Yes, NoE officially is in Großostheim, but as far as I know, most of NoE is actually in Frankfurt. Including their localization department and Shibata's office.

Großostheim ist ein Kaff. ;-)

God that picture is so fucking great.

I have always wondered though, did he and Bill just walk around on the show floor all casually? They must have been getting a lot of looks.
That's what I'm thinking.

It would've been so fucking crazy seeing what is essentially a video game rockstar casually walking around.

Alien blood. You do realise that the majority of Nintendo workers are employed martians right?

Reggie does look like a martian.

E3 Bear ejaculated all over the creates for your sins.

But this post was a joke post. D:
Iwata, Miyamoto, and Reggie should stop goofing around and start working on saving the Wii U. The time used dilly dallying with Luigi could have been used to getting third-parties to support the Wii U and the 3DS. Now they will have to deal with all of that time wasted and watch the company fall down to its knees.

Nintendo are gonna unleash the...salmon?

The place where a boy and his dog went on the adventure of their lifetime ... (if you happen to have played the German localization at least lol)

Yea that sounds about right to me. Just being on tv, while definitely netting you a few more stumbles upon, probably isn't going to be a worthy investment of money/time if their plug is gonna be on Spike (which sounds like some late weekday show, i don't live in America idk). An advertising campaign or securing a spot on a primetime show with a high viewer rating is gonna do it but in terms of advertising, who's gonna throw that towards what is essentially an advertisement for their games anyway? Obviously they'd make ads for WWHD or Mario themselves over the E3 event.

So Neiteio while yes, they'd get more exposure with a feature on Spike, would it be enough to warrant getting the spot? You're arguing semantics :p

Actually I don't know the definition in semantics but it seemed like the right word xD

Don't disagree. Just seems futile. I don't think it'll affect the end message the core, casual or non gamers get. Reveals of games at places like E3 are just the beginning. TV ads, print ads, signs and billboards, promotions, word of mouth and social media is how the kind of people who don't know or care about direct find out.

Live stream on TV wouldn't hurt. But seeing Iwata talking in his dodgy English in front of a White background with a banana in his hand would do more bad then good lol.

I loved the Großostheim reference in Secret Of Evermore (SNES)

About the Shiggy+Bill pic: this was taken when they looked at Kinect iirc

About the ND: sure this seems like a brave step from Nintendo, maybe even crazy :lol but here's the thing

Of all the people I know that would fit into Nintendo's target audience, not a single one of them watches a TV without a tablet/smartphone/laptop next to them
And don't forget that news can spread like wildfire on Facebook which can reach casuals who don't know shit about E3

Would they benefit from a TV presence? Absolutely. But many people undererstimate the power of using social networks correctly and many people still believe that NDs are echo-chambers while a single random Sonic announcement was enough to shut GAF down

An duct taped x?

A hint towards that xenoblade sequel?

Edit: aww darn it.

it's probably just for food storage for press on thursday. or something.

not related to that box or anything, but the 3ds presence on the show floor was practically nonexistent last year (throughout all of e3). it wasn't until thursday they decided to bring other demos out.

i don't really get your argument. they are going to be on TV, no? the "nintendo hour", complete with reggie and miyamoto. that's even better then the bore war Nintendo Direct which is not built for TV, a mass audience, nor can even break for commercials. it's like an infomercial to the average joe.

Back to hype.

That was hilarious gif. so 90s.

NO, they wouldn't be on TV. You are thinking of GameStop or GameTrailer livestream.

Also since the logo for this one is black and silver does anyone think that Iwata will be standing in front of a black background? Hope he's wearing a silver sequined suit.

Or his leather pimp blazer if he's feeling lucky.
