It was a long, sunny day at Nintendo Land.

50% off!, the entry sign stated, in big bold letters painted in red.

"Gee! Fee's amazingly low, today" said Link, as the gang queued up
for the thrilling Hylian MENSA tour.

"Ooh! Wee! What a fun ride!" Zelda said, as a wind current gave Sheik
air. "Roomier motors must make the G-forces double!"

Tree ninjas in drag suddenly attacked in this leg of the MENSA tour.

"Ooh! She buttered her sword or something," Zelda yelped, "cos it's
slicing coconuts with ease!" Frazzled, her manner was unbefitting a
hero. "She... umm... ah... ooh!"

Cheating death, they fled to the tour exit. At the gift shop, Link abruptly
stopped, seeming a little cagey. "Ah! Oh! New master swords are 50%
off, too!"

"Now let's go back on the ride!"

Um What?

Moist is the best word. The way it rolls off the tongue...
Would Nü Moist mean "New Moist?" I hear in Chinese, "nü" means "woman," which would make it hilarious in its own right, but I'm trying to basically say "New Moist" without breaking the eight-letter limit (I know I could scrunch the words together but eh).

Don't forget, guys -- whatever is shown in the Direct, chances are there'll be more at Nintendo's press site and on the show floor. Case in point: At E3 2010, we didn't know about the following until AFTER the conference:

- Pilotwings Resort
- Steel Diver
- Nintendogs + Cats
- Ocarina of Time 3D
- Star Fox 64 3D
- MGS3D: Snake Eater
- RE: Revelations

And so on, and so forth. Nintendo likes to drop mini-bombs in their updated release forecast and press assets, so keep an eye out!

Wii U I can understand but no 3DS?

Some (and by some I mean me) of us are waiting for better color options for the 3DSXL. I was unhappy with the 3DS design when it was first released and waited for the revision, but for whatever reason NoA decided to release the absolute worst color options. Gimme a white or the Luigi one and I am there in a heartbeat. That Japanese Eevee design is pretty sick as well. Hopefully Nintendo does what they've done in the past and slide in some new color options right after E3.

Yeah, you know. All the stuff that we'd actually be playing in the months to come, haha.

The press conference is more exciting than the games?

No, but it's synonymous with E3 for me. It's not like I'm not going to enjoy all of this stuff. I'm still going to watch the Nintendo Direct the second it goes up. Maybe I'll get excited as I get closer.

You guys really don't get excited come E3 press conference time? I thought pretty much all of us got excited/hyped about them. I never knew people were so nonchalant about them.

I do think that if, in particular Sony & Microsoft, have really bloated conferences with lots of long stage demos, marketing buzz words, and 'it's about experience' talk that the Nintendo Direct could look much smoother and snappier in comparison, but it all depends on presentation.

Of course we do, this year is no different really, less bullshit and more to the point. We lose live reaction and stages, but we get more goods and awkward funny Iwata.

I'm excited for the press conferences because of the games to be honest. The incessant talking on stage by fake corporate executives while talking about how awesome their games are is not what I look forward to. Of course this is my own opinion, and I;m not sure if this will ultimately be better

Stage Demos are always kind of annoying to me as well. I don;t want to see you demo some easy level or worse pre record it. I want to see video on the floor,

Nintendogs was definitely name dropped in the E32010 conference.

To me the direct is the conference. The only difference is Nintendo is talking to us instead of the press. To me that means more than some dusty conference hall.

I like the conferences, but what are you really losing in the move to a Nintendo Direct? The live reactions. That's pretty much it. And you're going to be on GAF while the Direct is going right? And if not on GAF, then in a chat or on Miiverse? You'll get the super hyped live reactions. Way more than the clapping that goes on during E3.

Another thing you lose out on is sales talk. Because Nintendo will save that for the press, not use it during a Direct. And I think we're all okay without the charts and pie graphs and spin.

Is it smart for Nintendo to give up the conference format? I have no idea. But for us gamers, it's functionally very similar. And while you lose the live reactions, there will be more than enough hype to go around. If you're really worried, just search for all of Neiteio's posts. You'll find the crazy.

I like Nintendo games. Not sure where you got the idea that I don't.

As for the rest of the responses I got, fair enough. I like the spectacle of a press conference. The ND should be cool, though. I'm glad you all are hyped for it. Like I said, maybe I will when it gets closer.

Conferences felt like they had way too much filler compared to a Nintendo Direct. Yeah the Zelda Symphony was neat but was it nercersary? Also no on-stage demonstrations make me much prefer a Nintendo Direct.

You will, what games are you most looking forward to?

Honesty, the Nintendo Direct reactions have been just as good. It's not like you can skip ahead in a Nintendo Direct which makes it not as hypable. To be honest they could literally do the same thing as conference and show a demo video and it would be the same,

Saying you find it hard to be excited to see the next 3d mario, mk, ssb, ect.(because of no press conference) concerns me if you like ninty games.

;)

Ok, ill leave you alone.

They're both highly planned, significant press events that I'll be watching from my laptop screen. Everyone watching would be seeing it simultaneously whether it's live on stage or livestreamed. The only difference is the live audience. If I want to hear cheering and clapping, I can add that myself.

I guess it's just the fact that, I get hyped for the E3 press conferences because they happen once a year. A Nintendo Direct happens every couple of months. I know this one will be a bigger deal, but that's just why it's hard for me personally to get as hyped as I would.

You will, what games are you most looking forward to?

3D Mario, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, maybe SSB (never been a HUGE fan, but I do have Brawl and like it), and the possibility of a Retro game. Of course, I hope we get some new IPs, too, although that's not a huge forte of Nintendo admittedly.

I'm as excited for this Direct as I am for a Press Conference. I just want to see the new games, no matter the format.

Now that I think about it, what's the difference between something like a Direct and PC? Just the audience, but now, in recent press conferences, if the people from the audience are not paid shills or invited fanboys they don't react much to what's being shown, so every time I hear cheering and clapping at a PC I cringe more than get excited.

And lately all conferences had some horrible awkward moments as well. Last year, that annoying youtube person Toboscus or whatever ruined Ubisoft's conference for me. That Usher segment on Microsoft's was really out of place. That incredible long Wonderbook showing was not only boring but plagued with technical difficulties. Same for Nintendoland's showing in Nintendo's conference. So I think that if done well, this may be Nintendo's best showing in a long time.

The only thing that worries me with a Nintendo Direct is Iwata rambling on about features that don't need explaining. It's like a calling card at this point.

Yeah, just say what the game is and give it a very small explanation. Let the demo be shown of the game, not ramble for 10 minutes on how they are bananas and came up with a new idea they had to test and make prototypes of

A gigabyte is 1024 megabytes.
A megabyte is 1024 kilobytes.

(Although I think they go by base 10 in the Wii U instead of base 2...)

What always ticks me off is when they have some of the Treehouse people explaining pointless stuff during a Direct. It sucks up a lot of valuable time.
