It's up on mediafire too.Might be due to the fact that it was a torrent?

It's the classic hardcore Nintendo fans saying 'Nintendo never does X', only for them to immediately do X.
It's almost clockwork at this point.
It's up on mediafire too.
I know that too, but it's harder to stop. Just wondering aloud why it's with MD only right now.Torrents aren't inherently illegal.
Might be due to the fact that it was a torrent?
Maybe they respond to DMCAs only on workdays? It's up on mediafire too.
Is that so...
*ahem*
You guys are crazy, Nintendo never makes F-Zero games.
And sprites.
But even still, why do it AFTER the game is released? They gain nothing from this but bad publicity.

A fangame that doesn't make any profit from its release isn't "taking" an IP. We might as well start demanding that fanart and fanfiction should all get C&Ds too.
Nintendo really have it out for Metroid dont they?
Not anymore as far as anyone with a PC is concerned. There is NO going back to the original after playing this remake.
It sucks, because it seems like it's a pretty cool remake, but people don't really have any right to be upset or surprised at this.
BUT NINTENDO DOESN'T DO THAT TYPE OF STUFF WHAT IS THIS
Thankfully the file is pretty much everywhere at this point.
Why let facts get in the way of sniping at people? It is funny some of the big fans going into defense mode that haven't read the OP carefully and think the entire game has been taken offline.
That's the thing. As much as people want to snipe at all the people saying that a C&D probably wouldn't happen, a lot of that conjecture about it not happening was based on the fact that Nintendo generally doesn't go after fan projects without serious cause. With maybe one or two exceptions, almost every C&D that's been issued to a fan project has been due to very clear mistakes made on part of the fan project people. This is exactly what Nintendo does, and EVERYONE knows it.

All they have to do is look at the reception to Other M and Federation Force to know the interest in a real Metroid game.Hmm... Could Nintendo use the data to see how many copies were DL'd to see if there is any interest in another real Metroid game. Cause this is now fishy imo get good buzz then pull it. I think this was a test.
Just found out about it, but any possibility it might be linked to the fake/former employee sending copyright takedowns everywhere?
For a post that's mostly technically correct on legality, it's surprising you'd miss that freedom of speech encompasses the right to be upset about anything and everything.
Really the legal angle is missing the point. Nintendo has legal rights to do this, they're just idiots for continuing to perpetuate the at-this-point-justified narrative that they don't give a shit about Metroid fans.
Happy anniversary, Metroid!
I think this is important to talk about.Good guy Nintendo. Waited until after release to shut them down.
Sends a pretty clear message that they need to protect their IP, but don't really mind if the game is out there.
So... The site is still up and game available for download. Why so much overreaction

I think I grabbed this file yesterday. What's the final file size? It may have gotten cut off before it finished.
Is that so...

This project has been around - with public dev builds - for 8 years now. I find it very hard to believe that it's a coincidence that we're only seeing legal action now.
I understand why they did this. This Remake, especially now at the 30th birthday of Metroid makes Nintendo seem really incompetent in how they've treated the franchise.
It's possible they haven't heard about it at all. I know I certainly haven't.
Outside of extreme incompetence, there is literally no way they could not have heard about it at some point. When you're all over social media, you know what people are talking about in regards to your IPs. This wasn't something that only got brought up in the Metroid fandom yesterday, it's been talked about for years by people.
This is a far more faithful adaptation than Zero Mission was. I was let down by ZM as well, this remake is absolutely spot on.Eh. I, and many others still prefer the original Metroid to Zero Mission, and I'm sure it will be no different with this game.
