Nintendo, I'm ready for Metroid Prime™ 4.

Prime was retconned out of canon by Sakamoto.

I loved every game up to and including Prime, even Hunters, but man, I am so done with Metroid unless they do a 180 on Other M.

Fuck Other M and fuck Team Ninja, and FUCK Sakamoto for ruining my one of my three favorite videogame series.

Yes, make another one (better in a few years), but don't call it Prime 4. The Metroid Prime/Dark Samus story has already ended.

Now it's time for Kraid. Or another brand new foe.

I'd like a new first person Metroid from Retro. Calling it Metroid Prime wouldn't really make much sense after the ending of the third game, but still.

someone explain me this 'Halo 4 = Prime 4' meme

Art direction is similar, ex Metroid Prime developers are working on it and while certainly different some level design comparisons can be made.

Metroid Prime 3 was the first non-Mario game I have ever bought. It was a truly new experience. It was like euphoria; the atmosphere greatly enhanced the experience. This game is up there in my person top three, with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Uncharted 3

Judging by this statement, it's safe to say your head would have exploded it you played the Prime series in order. 3 was the worst in the series IMO - though ALL good, the series gets worse with each sequel.

Thats not to say that a 4 would be bad - I would LOVE a 4, especially with the scanning possibilities via the gamepad.

I'm ready for another Metroid, period. Come on, why no 3DS one? That could be fantastic. I'm guessing after Other M, they are scared to rush out another one. Though I had no problems really with Other M like most did.

I would love a Prime 4. They're such unique games, I really can't get the same feeling from anything else. I miss it, and I've replayed the trilogy too many times to get it from those games anymore. (._. )

lol you sound like someone who just can't get that buzz from cocaine anymore.....

This is Nintendo, I'm not sure they know what to do with Metroid at this point, after the success of the prime series what do they give us? the mess that was Other M.
After which IMO Sakamoto should never touch the series again.

And all these years and 2 new handhelds perfect for some more classic style Metroid games, and we get nothing, zip.

Though evidentially 2D Metroidvania style games are going out the window, Casltevania has left the subgenre and the newest edition to it in the form of Shadow Complex has been sitting around waiting for a sequel now for ages.

Am I missing a joke here?

No joke, just sarcasm, at least I hope so.

I was rewatching the Metroid Prime 3: Corruption ending on YouTube, and realized I beat it exactly 5 years ago today. Half a freaking decade ago. So much has changed, in the world and in the industry, in that time period. It's been a really long time.

Nintendo, I'm ready for Metroid Prime 4. Make it a full on reboot. Nuke and wipe out Metroid: Other M from the Metroid canon, and give Metroid Prime 4 to Retro.

Are any of you ready for Metroid Prime 4?

You have to play the other last two, and Super Metroid via VC.

Man I really need to finished 1, play 2 and finish the end boss on 3 (I got so, so so close) before Wii U comes out. Think I can do it? :)

O.o

The worst?? Yeah NO. Super Metroid is laughing like hell at your right now.

A new Metroid from Retro would sell me a Wii U in an INSTANT. And I dont even want one.

Me too... A new Metroid is the only reason that will push me to buy a Wii U at the day one.

Other M was fun. Too bad the story was awful. Honestly using the Other M gameplay template for a sequel wouldn't be that bad (but I'd like it if they made it a little deeper, the combat felt too automatic).

I wouldn't mind Prime 4 either way, I'm fine with both really. But I'm not sure Nintendo is really in a hurry to release a new metroid. The Prime series never really set the charts on fire and Other M just bombed.

Both the Metroid Prime series and Other M can fuck off forever. If they can't come up with something that can marry all of the aspects of Super Metroid into a modern game that's amazing in all regards, I don't want them ever making another Metroid title at all.

They really should have just left it dead after Super Metroid.

Metroid needs to be put to rest for another decade and reborn again by Nintendo of Japan.

No more FPA bullshit please. No more Other M bollocks either!

I want Super Metroid style goodness. They should only release a metroid game every 10 years otherwise it gets stale.

The Prime games were good but I was pretty tired of the formula after Corruption. Other M had a horrible script and some poorly designed moments where it tried blend gameplay and storytelling, but in general I though the action was good fun. I'd rather see another attempt at 3rd person 3D Metroid, or a 2.5D Metroid, than another Metroid Prime.

You're not going to get it. The only people who would have made Super Metroid 2 are Sakamoto's team, and they wanted to make Other M instead.

Meanwhile, Prime is Super Metroid in 3D.

This thread is good evidence for why someone should never trust the opinions of a GAFfer on video games
Anything that involves the shrinking possibilities of profit is a bad idea. Discussing Metroid 2D or 3D in HD consoles' 2nd generation is always a bad idea, but we can make the most of it. :P

They did it. It's called Metroid Prime.

The Super Metroid team also made Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission, so they're not entirely controversial. Other M and Fusion are very similar, though the former is a lot more rigid.

A new HD 2D Metroid would be great (or just one on the 3DS), but Metroid Prime 4 is one game that would make me immediately drop the money on a Wii U.
