Nintendo Magazine delayed due to exclusive content

I bet its about Resident Evil 4.
In case anyone doesn't remember, they had an obvious silhouette of Leon S. Kennedy next to a promise of an exclusive Wii game reveal. Everyone thought it was Resident Evil 4-2... it was Battalion Wars II. Several months after Battalion Wars II was revealed.

Oh, and they said that the silhouette of Leon could've been anything.

Expecting: Wii-tendogs :(

Wanting: Super Mario Allstars 2 (SMAS + SMW + Super Mario 64 (visually remastered) + Super Mario Sunshine)

I'd love to know what Wii game Monster Games is working on (Excite Truck 2 or...?)

Oh, now you've done it. I was content to laugh at this whole business but then you evoked the name of EXCITE, and I got that little... twinge. What if?! What if?!

but I've learned we won't get any worthwhile information out of ONM annoucements.

Phew, nice save.

Is this the same magazine that had a Leon silhouette implying he was in Brawl like a year ago

I believe that was Nintendo Power, which never have exclusives about anything and are often wrong.

Nintendo Official Magazine is fairly reputable i believe.

Indeed. Factor 5 GmbH in Cologne, Germany. They are still working on a Wii game scheduled for release later this year.

I think you've got that wrong. There is only one guy working at Factor 5 Germany (or two or three). Afaik they only support their Californian devision.

However, this should be a game from a Western developer. Headstrong? Monster Games? Fuse Games? Factor 5?
If I had to guess it's a Monster Games future racer.

The Official Nintendo Magazine was responsible for teasing game reveals like NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams and Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii. Could it have another MEGATON game reveal planned for its next issue? We've yet to be bombarded by teasers or leaks, so we're exercising hype caution.

Holy shit!

Wrong on both counts.

ONM's exclusives have always sucked, and they did use a little sillohette of Leon as a thing in 3rd party characters in Smash Bros, and then later shrugged it off as "oh we didn't mean anything, it was just generic'"

See, more hints that its going to be Kirby Wii. Nintendo viral marketing at its best.

I don't think "exclusive" and "unannounced" necessarily mean the same thing.
Kirby Wii. If I say it long enough, it should come true... Maybe... Eventully...

ONM.

Orifice, Nougat, Management.

Just tossing that out there...

I think the ONM acronym does lend credence to the idea that this could be the unveiling of Iwata's favourite jam...

a little reorganisation of the letters and what do you get?

NOM

NOM NOM NOM

Huahua, that's funny because it's the opposite :P

I don't give a fuck how big they think this story is, if the words "Sin", "and", "Punishment" and the number 2 aren't printed somewhere in that article in that order, total disappointmenton.

Not really.

This too. :lol

omg I hope it's news about a somehwat pedestrian NES platform shooter from the 80s that nobody gave a crap about at the time, but has since taken on mystical proportions, in spite of the fact that it won't even be the same game style on the wii, and all the characters are public domain greek gods! omg

Here in Germany we have to magazines (N-Zone & GamePro) that want to reveal something in their next issue, too. According to them it is a hero we all know (N-Zone) and a series which hasn't got a sequel for a long time (GamePro). Maybe this two magazines and ONM will reveal the same game. So, this should be something "bigger".

It's probably just Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.

What the fuck is with you people and wanting a Icarus game? Have you never played the NES one? It was a piece of shit that doesn't deserve a damn sequel.

Europe mmmh... Redsteel 2?
Wasn't ONM supposed to have a hands-on preview of Redsteel 2 back in 2007 or something. :lol
It's 2009 and we still haven't seen or heard any-fucking-thing about it.

Please die in a fire. Of course it wasn't a perfect game, having a lot of flaws that games of that era had, but it had solid gameplay elements and a new game could be very interesting.

I'd also like to see Balloon Fight to have a return. It's more a title I'd like to see on a DL service though, the core gameplay was fun and I'd hate to see it ruined in the quest of a ÂŁ40 big blockbuster title.

Well, the first Metroid was shit. Then came Godly Super Metroid.

According to arcane legends, there was a sequel for the GameBoy that actually WASN'T terrible.

But yeah, the first one was pretty bad. I thought it was just the "revival" hype that got people excited about it. Imagine my surprise when I read an old Nintendo Power that listed it as one of the most popular reader games.

This is true.

In before the "bu-bu-bu wonky controls and no map made for better ATMOSPHERE" squad

The first metroid was held back by the limitations of the machine. Concept wise, and execution wise, it was groundbreaking and as good as it could have been.

The NES Kid Icarus is so on the fringes of Nintendo-fan-hivemind consciousness and not yet even officially reimagined into 256 colours, that with a full leap to 3D they can basically take a hell of a lot of liberties and do lots of new things. Essentially it would feel like a brand new Nintendo franchise. Which is why I'm up for it, personally.

A GmbH with only one to three employees wouldn't make much sense, though. Especially considering they have an actual office. It's very hard to find any actual info except for Achim's profile, but yes, they seem to be mostly/ only providing low level stuff for Factor 5 LLC - I never said they were working on whatever that title is all alone.

I had the gameboy one as a kid. It was fucking awesome. Also the nes one is actually fun once you get out of the crappy vertical scrolling levels.

It is archaic, but so is almost every NES game. It's still enjoyable, though, and it has the potential to join the three other titans in prestige and quality.
