The gloss is gone. :-/
Ten-Song said:I actually think downloadable games could be HUGE for this. Lots of developers already use small teams to produce DS games at a far lower cost than a normal console game, so imagine an even smaller amount of resources required for something you can just put up as DLC.
At least I have hope for that. Wii Ware's not impressed me much so far.

And if the DS Phat/DS Lite can download games too than even better cause it makes this hardware revision even worse than I orginally thought.
From what I know about the DSI, I would not only rather keep my DS Lite, I would rather pay more for a DS Lite if my DS Lite broke than get this.
Everything added would be absolutely useless to the average 14-40 year old and they take away one of the best parts of the DSL. Being the premiere GBA player.

Ten-Song said:GB Micro is still the ideal GBA player for me.
This will kill any serious developer support. It's like making a game for the Sega CD, 32X or any other optional add-on.ccbfan said:Developers will not forgo the 100+ million DS Phat/DS Lite users around the world.
Troidal said:Yeah. It's a strange irony that both third iterations of the handhelds (DSi and PSP-3000) don't seem as significant...basically feels like another cash-in for people who buy like 4 iPods because they all have different sizes and features...
I'm happy with my DSL and PSP-2000
Amen to that. GB micro 4eva.
Balb said:I disagree, I think the DSi is the most significant update to a Nintendo handheld since the backlight for the SP.
I'm vaguely interested to see how they'll integrate the camera into games. Theoretically you could make some pretty cool augmented reality games using it, assuming it can work in realtime. Also, I like the online capabilities - the DS store, SD card etc. But yeah, it's not ultra-orgasmic. It would have been nice to have a decent spec increase as well, esp. now the GBA slot is gone.Marty Chinn said:Either I'm getting old, or Nintendo kinda blew it on this one because I'm just not interested. Not that I don't think it will sell, but I'm not even remotely interested at all. This is coming from someone who has bought a Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Light, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, Game Boy Micro, Nintendo DS, and a Nintendo DS Lite. In case you missed it, I bought a Game Boy Light which never made it out here in the US. In fact I think I have two of them. The price hike for the new features isn't worth it. I've got all those features in a better form on my iPhone so I don't see a reason to get them on a DS lite. All they had to do was do dual touch screen and I would have been there on day 1. Sorry Nintendo, for once I won't be upgrading.
Fixed.Balb said:I disagree, I think the DSi is the most significant update to a Nintendo handheld since the GBMicro.
None of that required a new model. SD could be added through the same kind of cart-slot that Pirates are using, and DS store is you know, 100% software.Johnnyram said:Also, I like the online capabilities - the DS store, SD card etc.

The next handheld generation will be VERY interesting.
Each DS screen could be described as 0.05 megapixel, so it's fine for the platform at hand.shagg_187 said:.3 megapixel?
0.3? Did i read this right?
They could make it into a GBA cart. Or a DS cart, if they used SD micro.Ten-Song said:Also, there's NO WAY Nintendo will add the DS Ware stuff to the old DS models. There's not enough storage space in those systems for it, and Nintendo hasn't done any live Firmware update type stuff like the new Xbox Live Experience stuff in... ever.

The overcrowded mobile multimedia device market? I bought a DS for games; my cell phone is better or equal to either the DSi or the PSP for anything not gaming related.Hcoregamer00 said:It's important because it shows that they are willing to go after the same market as Sony.

Nintendo-themed visualizations for the MP3 player apparently.

the new additions wont cost nintendo as much to put it into the DSi as the price increase..
JoshuaJSlone said:I just realized that the camera being on the back of the top screen makes it essentially different from the GB Camera and even the existing DS Facening camera. No decent self-face-capturing unless a mirror is used.
