One thing that just came to mind regarding a few titles there.

Does New Super Luigi U DLC version count as a sale here? (as it is discs and downloads of discs) How is the combined and New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U disc counted here?

I don't suppose we ever find out the answer to those well maybe Q4 as the New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U disc is now at retail in the USA (presumably replacing the separate discs).

Does the lack of some first party Wii U titles imply they sold less than 1 million (prior to today the best sellers list for Wii U was a top 8 instead of a top 10) but at the same time there the top 10 is just less than 50% of all software (well discs and downloads of disc).

Well that's likely years out given the lm2 team is doing federation force.

Must suck going from one of the breakout successes to a game with such a bad response.

Ah, right. I forgot about that. Well, it's possible they will just assist on it and another dev will take the lead. They won't want to wait too many years between Dark Moon and the next LM game if they want to capitalize on its success. Maybe an NX year one or two title.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much

The response to Federation Force will help it long term, like Star Fox Zero the reaction will have sent them into a panic and they will make sure the game turns out good.

Luigi's Mansion 2 sales are amazing.
Next Level Games track record for Nintendo is remarkable and that's why Nintendo gave them each time a more delicate and important project.

First Mario Football spinoffs (which two games sold great) then reviving a lesser known but important for Nintendo legacy IP like Punch Out (again with good critical and sales reception).
Finally the sequel to the beloved Luigi spooky game for GC which is outselling the original by a good margin.

Nintendo simply has no reason to not trust NLG with their legacy IPs at this point in time.

Am i the only one REALLY surprised Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer sold so well so quickly ?

I mean, yeah Animal Crossing is a really successful brend but 2 millions that quickly for something like a spin-of ? That's insane.

Smash is quite a thing this gen. It's almost up there with Mario Kart (though it's on two platforms). Mario Kart suffered more from the Wii U's small userbase since it's one of those games that even more casual gamers can play but they don't own the system. IIRC MK Wii sold over 35 million.

It's a strong brand and the gameplay fit well AC nature.
It's Nintendo big seller for the 3DS holiday season IMO.

Now if the AC board game for WiiU will sell 2 million quickly that would surprise me (you can never underestimatee the power of Amiibo I suppose).

Am I misreading or did Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire both sold a total of 10 mil units worldwide?

Wii U Mario Kart 8 440.000 5.870.000

Now more then x4 polygon predictions, and higher then super circuit

The biggest news is that Super Mario 64 DS sells 10.000 Units, 10 years after release.
This FY has 5.5 million DS games shipped. The Apr-Jun number was 2.3 million. Yes a lot of it is shovelware like Frozen: Olaf's Quest (coming soon to Japan, joy :( ).

I suspect this SM64 shipment was for Europe as looking at the amazon.de price charts shows pricing activity and hence stock status changing (camelcamelcamel displays out of stock as being the same price so the straight lines for 2014-205 are likely out of stock periods).

Likewise OOT 3D was mainly European.

edit: Or maybe it is NOA store stuff. Still those tended to be refurbished.

all good things
Only reason I could think of would be if it was on WiiU VC, whether here or in Japan, assuming that'd even count. But I don't think it is.

so... wtf?

It got put up on NoAs online store a few months ago for $20. I wonder if all 10,000 sales are from that.

The Amiga Brotherhood
Kinda baffling how their userbase disappeared on them. On consoles the drop is like 90% and handheld 60/70%. And this all happened in just a few years. I guess the good news is the GC to Wii spike is just as extraordinary, so not all is lost for the NX. You never know with Nintendo.

So, Splatoon vs Mario Maker vs Happy Home Designer. Which will be Nintendo's best selling game this year? I'm betting on Mario Maker > Splatoon > HHD.

KingSnake

It's not baffling if you look how they treated the transition periods between the generations (including this one now from Wii U and 3ds to NX. Add on top the damage inflicted by mobile to handhelds.

success of splatoon bodes well for nintnedo taking risks with more new IP

Taking risk as well as actually advertising one of their games. They refuse to do that with a LOT of their titles. Had they treated Splatoon as they did nearly everything else it wouldn't have sold the numbers it has.
