Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
No thanks.
Nintendo's games are best kept on Nintendo's hardware.
Nintendo's games are best kept on Nintendo's hardware.
Most of these wishes just boil down to "I want to play Mario and Zelda on my Playstation/Xbox/iPhone" and never why this makes sense practically.
That's fine, that's exactly what I've been doing and will continue to do, because it isn't me that's missing out, it's Nintendo. While I have plenty of other games to keep me busy, Nintendo miss out on the 240 bucks they would get selling those games to me because they persist to make them exclusive to a console that doesn't sell.
Isn't this why we have monopoly laws? Not only would a product like this dominate the market but it would put the xbox or other competitors out of business.
Seriously? Nintendo wants to sell the hardware, if you don't want to buy it then don't(like you just said you've been doing). But don't expect them to change their ways after 30 years just to win some quick cash.
Why the hell would I spend hundreds of dollars on a console just to play 3 or 4 decent games?
Wind Waker
3D World
Zelda U
Smash Bros
All of which on an inferior platform, not only in specs but in features, not the least of which in online functionality. Why would anyone do that?

They're a business. That's sort of what they're supposed to be doing. If that isn't their focus, I'm sure their shareholders will have something to say.
It's why I wonder why anyone buys any console...
Oh yeah, I'd buy a console because there are a few games I want to play. That's why you buy a console.
Doing what? giving up on consoles over one flop? They'd just focus on the 3DS in a worst case scenario(which they probably won't), they aren't going 3rd party.
Also, ignoring some of the best games of the system and calling the best ones "decent" really shows how much you really want to play the games.
I don't understand what people have against Nintendo controllers?
They actually have 3 different choices atm:
- A classic controller
- The GamePad
- The Wiimote
Choice is good, everyone can choose what they like
Then again, while I'd like to see that console, it's probably never going to become real.

Not at all, but at least acknowledge that it is a flop by cutting the price to something more appropriate. Case in point: The premium Wii U is still worth 428 dollars in Australia.
Im kinda suprised you say SONY would never do it. I would have said Nintendo rather !
I'd personally love to see Nintendo out of the hardware business and just do software, it's what they do best. We saw SEGA do this after all.
"I'd personally would like less competition because of my brand loyalty" is what I read here.
Certainly within Nintendo, we have people internally who are saying, "Well, we have our old characters from our old games, and that's old IP, and we should think about creating new IP." But the question that we always ask is: "Does a new character really make it a new game?" And to me, the answer to that is, "No." What makes it a new game is new gameplay and new interactions. So when we're creating a game, we're always looking at it from, "What is the gameplay, and how are making that gameplay new?" And then, "Who is the character that is best suited to that gameplay?"
By taking this approach, for us, we feel like even when we're creating new installments in existing series, we're creating new experiences, because the gameplay that's in there is something that's entirely new. And in some cases, we may even end up creating new characters. Pikmin was an example of how we ended up creating new IP, because we created this new style of gameplay, and it really needed a new character in order to have that gameplay work, and that was the approach we took. We created the gameplay mechanic first, and then created the characters afterwards.
What we always stress, when we're working with our development teams is, "Focus first on creating fun and new gameplay, and then we'll figure out what the character is or what the IP is that's going to go with it." In the future, we may see that that will bring us some new characters and new IP, but what's important to me is that, even with the existing IP that we're releasing games for, they're all new gameplay experiences.
I'm sorry, but anyone referring to Nintendo as legitimate competition this coming generation is sticking their neck out pretty far. Next gen will be a 2 horse race unless Nintendo do something fast.
Same story of last gen when they were not competition but manage to sell 100mi Wii, right?
They might not be going for the same crowd head to head, but somewhere those ellipses overlap and they fight for the same money, regardless of you acknowledging it or not.
Lol, youre one person
Im sure theyll be fine without your money

Not sure how thats relevant to you not buying a wii u because you think the cost isnt worth itWell clearly I'm not just "one person" because the PS4 just outsold the Wii U in one geographic location in 2 days.
What does sony have?I don't feel nintendo has really anything to offer besides first party IPs.
that said, Sony hardware,OS,network, first party + nintendo first party would be a pretty badass combo.

Nintendo has been operating at a profit for years
Sony on the other hand..
Sony have been running at a loss because of their stubborn refusal to dump their black hole divisions, those being Televisions and Music.
If they were nothing but gaming, they would probably be running big profits.
I have been thinking of this for a while and I know that Nintendo really likes those profits from their own consoles, but it seems obvious that costs in making and researching new hardware is what is holding them back these days.
For next gen, Nintendo should collaborate with Sony; have them make the hardware and have Nintendo develop the controller. Nintendo themselves have said that the Wii U hardware is just a box and that the main concern is the interface. Everyone respects Nintendo's innovation and a collaboration with Sony would still allow them to be as innovative as they want all while letting Sony worry about getting all the Third Party games.
I think they should make a one console generation contract with Sony, see how it goes and decide midway through if they will continue with Sony or go back to developing their own home consoles for the next cycle. The handheld market can still their's.....
Your thoughts GAF?
Sony did actually came out with rumble only some days or weeks within when Nintendo came out with their rumble pack. It was this controller: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_Analog_Controller. These things were probably announced earlier, but its hard to say if anyone copied eachother on that.then Nintendo made the n64 with a controller with a stick and rumble and funny enough sony copied again.
sony knows Nintendo are good at doing new things that's why sony head said recently its good for the industry for Nintendo to do well.
Sony wouldn't let Nintendo do anything about the hardware. The only thing that Sony would allow would be Nintendos software exclusively on their plattform.
But they would never build a plattform together.
What Nintendo need to do is create a more "powerful" console and get some good backers!!
There marketing sucks, and that WiiU name didn't help!
I remember watching E3 and was like where is the dam console? Is it just a tablet!?!?
Nintendo and sega have always been about innovation and the others have followed down the line (analog sticks, online gaming, VMU etc etc)
And there games over the last few generations just have stuck the same, there innovation seems to have gone or maybe we have simply just grown up?
If they were to share a console they would probably design it together and make something that has features they both want.
I don't think that Nintendo can offer anything to Sony that Sony can't do on its own, except software.
And if Nintendo had anything great(hardware) they would build their own console, like they did with the Wii.
But what they did with the WiiU controller wasn't great. Sony wouldn't want that.
