I got mine preordered but I ended up having to go in-store to GameStop to do it as the online was bugged yesterday. (I was debating between this and the steam deck but I already have a good gaming pc and just a dinky switch lite so the switch won this one)
I thought the same thing. Thats why i went to an actual store instead. Was in and out in 2 minutes and didnt have to fight with people online to get one
Yep, same here. Went in and got mine right away. Same happened with PS5. I had no problems at all getting a PS5. Series X I got online and it was one huge mess. Literally had to spam the checkout button a million times before it finally went through. It was like two hours after pre-orders went up before it finally went through.
I'm sorry I'm just not seeing OLED as anything other than something only tech savvy people care about. To see the difference you will need to put both units side by side for most people. You will suddenly start seeing Nintendo fans quoting OLED but that doesn't mean it'll sell well.
The Switch is not even on par with cheap smartphone LCD displays since it has a "huge" air gap between the screen and the plastic/glas covering it. I saw it when I first it on. Especially with higher surrounding light you get washed out effects and reflections.
So it's both OLED with better contrast and (not confirmed yet) a modern glued top glas.
I can even notice (to me, but I'm sensitive) big differences in the quality between regular Switch LCDs (some have color tints far from the regular 6500k).
I went through 3 OG Switches and 4 V2 Switches to be happy with the display. Interestingly for both I was happy with a special edition version (Odyssey OG, Animal Crossing V2).
I hope the OLED displays will not have the same quality variations. It should be a step up from my AC Switch.
