Few selected members of the press, YouTubers and last but not least My Nintendo users were invited to try out the Nintendo Switch before anyone else.

The very first Event is in, where else, Offenbach in Germany.

As I'm making this thread, the event started already. So expect impressions to roll in on Twitter etc

For US-GAF

Check out the schedule below to see each of the participating cities and their corresponding tour dates:

New York – January 13-15
Toronto – January 27-29
Washington, D.C. – February 10-12
Chicago – February 17-19
San Francisco – February 24-26
Los Angeles – March 3-5

While the first two days at each city will be limited to those with an invite, the third day will be open free to the public. That said, space will be limited, with entry being granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Nintendo will also showcase its upcoming console from January 27-29 at PAX South in San Antonio, as well from March 16-18 at PAX East in Boston.

WOW! They're going all out to sell an overpriced, casual game machine with ports and bad 2012 graphics aren't they.

It's actually sad that what they present is so different to what they're actually selling. The booths look awesome but the price, support by third parties, accessories, paid online etc are all bad.

My only concern is that there are too many options. They literally did everything possible in the joy cons like it was the last thing they were going to ever make.

hell yeah! real machines with REAL GAMES don't have accessories or paid online, right??

They want Arms to be the next Splatoon, don't they? Too bad the title is terrible.

Don't want to be a back seat mod but there's other threads for the critical feedback on Switch as a whole, perhaps this one could stay on the topic of hands on impressions and less drive-by criticism.

Just because you have the ability to make a shitty hot take does not mean it's a good idea.
I think you quoted the wrong person there:

interested in hearing about the joycons, do they feel as tiny as they look?

and how's the HD Rumble, IR and waggle?

Are... those miis? I thought they were moving away from all that?
Clearly you haven't been paying attention to Miitomo & how MyNintendo uses your Mii as your avatar. Hell, one of the images of the Switch's UI has a Mii avatar in the top-left corner.

The Miis aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They've more-or-less transcended the Wii brand.

I'm working the Toronto event and this actually scares me now. At first I thought "Oh we'll probably be renting a mall space out" but they got the freaking convention centre. This is gonna be insane. XD Exciting though!

Have you even played the game online? It looks exactly like the MK8 lobby.
I haven't touched MK8 in a few months but the background for online mode was in space wasn't it with the miis standing on Earth when you pick a track wasn't it? Either way when you look closely you can see the track selection boxes above everyone so I guess local wireless changes the background to a garage or something which makes sense.

That's the replay center in Mario Kart 8.

Or choosing your online course.

I mean, it is obvious it is Mario Kart because of the course icons at the top of the screen
but the rest does not resemble neither the Mario Kart TV Room nor the online screen.

The former is like a big movie theater and the latter is on the space/Earth.
This one looks like a car workshop or something.

I'm confused by those reactions. The only thing negative in my post is regarding the title. Do you actually think it's good? It's like calling Splatoon, "Ink" or something.

People think your comment, "too bad the title is terrible.' Means that you think the game itself is terrible. But Im guessing you mean the name/title.
