Nintendo Switch Super Bowl Commercial

Not a single person here noticed it.
Super hyperbole and means absolutely nothing but hmm

Hope for more impact across the board though. Reactions here seems super positive.

It's a fine commercial but it's not gonna light the world on fire like "Wii would like to play" imo.

I was watching that and all I could think was: I've never needed to play my game the second I woke up or while literally cooking food.

Show a commute or something.

Good stuff. Nintendo making some solid marketing moves. Love the focus on Zelda. The ad was tight and did what it needed to do. That said, I like the longer version I see online, too.

Ad was noticeably quieter than other ads. The music bed didn't kick in until the last 10 sec of the ad.

I didn't watch it but that sounds like the usual "no we must insert the ad even deeper into their subconscious" bullshit that mainstream advertising loves. What you just saw was probably a normal commercial made by normal people, without brickwalled compression to hell and back to get your attention as you're walking away to pee

That's exactly how the ad started.

All it showed was Zelda, though...and cooking. It showed cooking.

Not sure how effective it was.
It showed playing on the tv and on the handheld while cooking instead of interrupting. It did what it had to do.

I think they should have done the ad with the guy playing while taking a dump.

I liked it anyways and didn't even know they were doing a Super Bowl ad.

Man, the fact that they are selling this new system with a game they announced only a year after the last system they released tells me everything I need to know.

"Thought this was a Switch commercial, not a Zelda commercial" was the sentiment from the party I'm at.

Arent those the same thing?

It takes a long time to make a game?

Honestly, though...is it even possible to play a game as elaborate as Zelda while actually cooking something (without burning it)?

I think they should have made it a bit clearer what the switch does. It just shows the guy putting it in the dock and it coming on screen then cuts to him playing with the pro controller. Should've shown him removing the joy cons or playing it in tabletop mode.

And for those saying "i've never felt the need to play as soon as i wake up!" Really? Never been so hooked on a game you want to play it first thing? I have done this countless times and it was always with a Nintendo handheld.

Yeah, reminds me of how obsessed I was with 999 on DS. Played that over a weekend with almost no breaks. I was real addicted... lol.

My boyfriend saw the trailer and was unamused. Showed him the extended cut, and his response was, "Now that's a super bowl commercial! " so I guess Nintendo did it's job in drawing attention to its extended edition?

Either way, it's pretty solid.
