Nintendogs Sequel?

We don't really talk about this game much, probably mostly because it isn't still lingering around in the Japanese top 20. It's about time they at least announce a sequel of sorts. It does happen to be the highest selling DS game and one of the best selling games of all time.

This is one of those things where just because it's a logical idea doesn't mean Nintendo will follow through with it. Sequels on the same platform aren't rare from them, but they're certainly not as plentiful as they are with other publishers. If Nintendogs still has legs I imagine they're in no rush to release a sequel.

Had they followed that plan of action with Brain Trainig 2 then they would be missing one of their best selling games. And it didn't really affect sales of the 1st.

What more can you do really in a sequel? They'd be better off making a cats game or something.

I can think of plenty of things they could do... because much of what they DIDN'T do is what I found really bad in the first, besides the 'non-game/virtual pet' aspect of course.

I know the discussion will enter like 'but they can't do that, it's too mean' or something, but they need to add breeding, animal death, far more customization for the animal and home they stay in, and much more.

I'm actually suprised they don't release a game that sort of looks like Endless Ocean in terms of graphics and you getting to walk around your whole house. You should be able to get all kinds of pets...cats, dogs, lizards, fish..everything and trying to take care of them all. I'd actually like two totally different games work together and have a dog in Nintendogs 2 on the DS and be able to have that dog as your pet on Animal Crossing Wii.

Nintendogs 2

- The ability to watch the dogs of the people you see on a walk.
- Dog shows online
- hair cuts and a bunch of different doggie models to make it feel like your dog really is yours. no need for three different shades of fur.
- Watch your friends dogs while they go on a trip and earn points and have a rating system for how that person did on watching your dog. Almost like ebay.

Maybe a sequel will be on the Wii..(or Ds and Wii)..seeing how the original idea of the game, was as a GameCube game..

i'm honestly surprised there isn't a nintencats already

If they let us have kitties make ridiculous poses, add in captions, and upload them to the internet, this would be a day 1 purchase.

Too bad it won't happen. :/

Maybe they can actually make it a "game"

Hardcore gamers approach i see :) Seriously though, i dont think that is something Nintendo would do, third parties should do it, and put a serious effort behind it. I think there leaving money on the table by not doing it.

They are instead going to use cats this time around. It will be called "Touch Pussy"

That title alone should make the game sell millions in Japan.

Well..
They released "Touch Dic"...too bad it wasn't released in the US.. :(

If they take an awesome pun like Nintendogs and turn it in to shit like Nintencats I'm going to be pissed.

Remember when Nintendogs was down as Puppy Times (or something) for the US? Nintencats has that level of creativity.

Which meltdown?
When Famitsu gave Nintendogs a 40/40. drinky went pretty much bonkers, he just couldn't understand it. I can't find the thread right now, though. :(

and the hand/cursor should move "in 3d space". that would be pretty cool.

Nintendogs was the weakest excuse for entertainment I've known since Superman 64.

But, that aside, Nintenmonkeys would be awesome.

I'm very impressed with how much this game has managed to sell (~15 million and still not finished), but I do expect Pokemon D/P (10 million after just launching in PAL territories) to beat it out in the end.

It was a neat and fun game for a while, but the problem is that considering the amount of time you have to put into the game to maintain a healthy dog, there really isn't a whole lot to do. I never unlocked all the toys or dogs, but it required a lot of luck and patience doing the same thing over and over again day after day. Two changes could really improve Nintendogs. First of all, it should be online so that it will be MUCH easier to find dogs to interact with. Secondly, they should allow all of your dogs to be put in the kennel rather than being forced to leave at least one out at all times. I'd be much more likely to come back to the game after a long absence if I didn't have to worry about losing a lot of the work I put into the dog. Other than that, all the game needs is more variety, especially when it comes to activities you can do with your dog.

I think Nintendogs will have the edge, unless either game gets a sequel.
