Why do people like this horrifyingly ugly boxy cars? The Element, the Scion, that monstrosity of a Mercedes, and now this? What is wrong with people? Cars are supposed to have curves for a reason!

different people like different things, I suppose.

After decades of sedans that can't really be differentiated from one another, having an affordable choice that sticks out is welcome to some, as long as quality, convenience, and comfort aren't sacrificed.

Most of the shit from GM is ugly as fuck. Actually most American cars are fucking ugly. With exception to some of the more recent retro-redesigns which are simply stunning (Camaro, Challenger) or the Corvette, American can designers can't seem to get away from designing gaudy in your face vehicles with huge chrome grills and bonnet vents. What they did with the Holden designed Monaro (GTO to you) just blows my mind; how they turned what was quite a clean looking muscle car into that mess of a thing called a GTO I dunno.

The Cube is actually a funky looking car. It's kind of like Top Gears 'X' factor for the cool wall. It's not a beautiful looking car, it's not a fast car, it no doubt corners like a panda riding atop a dog and it's definitely not cool in the same way an Aston Martin makes bond look; but it has a sort of off beat look to it that only it has, sort of cute without over doing it while catching your eye. The asymmetrical design is interesting.

I love this car.. It's pretty popular in Japan these. Get leg and head room but still compact enough. Good gas mileage.. really good car.

Having had the misfortune of being forced to drive an Aztek for a day, I can say the worst thing about it other than the looks is the visibility issues from the driver's perspective. Sight lines are hideous in almost every direction, forcing you to peer around a collection of diagonal beams and stupidly designed window shapes in order to get an idea of what might be next to the thing before even attempting to lane change.

It's pretty fucking dangerous. I'm always leery of cars that try to do something weird ass with their windows like that, and this ... thing. But nowadays with everyone having a hard time selling cars, I can see manufacturers trying whatever they can to be different.

I bet we'll see a lot of this gimmicky shit happen for a time.

I 1st saw the Cube on some Tokyo car show on one of the HD discovery channles and just fell in love.

I used to hate on the boxy cars too (have a friend who owns an Orange Scion Xb) but shit they are not going away and they are pretty fucking roomy inside.


Get past the knee jerk reaction to its looks and it is a great vehicle, but really how long have these boxy cars been on the road now, get used to them already. They are cranking them out for a reason.
