Urg so much for me buying this then. I tried the english voices first on the Wii version and quickly switched over to Japanese since I just wasn't feeling it.
I'm going to be pretty pissed if they don't leave the Japanese track on X though
I'm guessing you don't listen to British media all that much if you think talking normally is somehow making a statement. If I get it (unlikely), playing on mute confirmed.
'ello! Can you tell we're Bri'ish? Look a' tha' ickle Bunni'!
God, it was bad.

I... I think the issues run deeper than just not listening to much British media...I'm guessing you don't listen to British media all that much if you think talking normally is somehow making a statement.

Dubs can be good in many situations for anime(RK, CB, BO, GW, SS, FZ, DN, many others), even when they change things around a little(YYH which is think is superior to the sub by far).
FUCKING THANK YOU."Purists" play a game with voice and text in the original language so that they can make their own determinations of the initial intended meaning. Putting on a voicetrack you don't understand is just an affectation.
Why would someone watch Avatar in Chinese if they don't speak Chinese?Have you ever watched, say, Avatar in Chinese?
This is the bigger news for me here. I was a bit unconvinced but that should cement my purchase.the final product is stable, the frame-rate holding steady while the draw distance (judged from the first three hours, at least) hasn't diminished
FUCKING THANK YOU.
There's some shit that needed to be said. Goddamn.
I love the dub for Xenoblade (and the Last Story too), so I have no problem with this - it was so refreshing to hear a new set of voices rather than the stock set we often hear in game localisations.
I hope that the same studio is responsible for the X dub too!
That would be Side, located in the UK, who I also believe helped with the localisation of the game. Seeing as NoA are responsible for the localisation of X I'm guessing it's unlikely Side will be involved. Hopefully NoA are aware of how much the fans enjoyed the voice work of the first game and throw us a bone, but with the game being set in Neo LA they'll likely go with an American cast.I hope that the same studio is responsible for the X dub too!
They do the same in the Japanese dub...

Real talk, I'd take Dragon's Dogma speech spam over Xenoblade's.
Michigan: Report from Hell wasn't even a legal port. Some Italian mafia localized it without the knowledge of the original creators, it's confusing as all hell for what reasons that happened. That is true. It is like House of the Dead 2 or Resident Evil 1 charm.
Michigan: Report from Hell is legit bad though.
So what you're saying is you...Urg so much for me buying this then. I tried the english voices first on the Wii version and quickly switched over to Japanese since I just wasn't feeling it.
I wish dubs would just go away. They take time and cost the publisher money. Just slap some subtitles on the game and call it a day, Christ.
Disappointing. Size constraints are understandable, but I hope one day that keeping games in their original language will be the default, and dubs will be seen as an extra option to be cut if needed.
I thought the dub was acceptable until I encountered the Ether Mine boss. Oh my god.
My big fear of an American dub is the cutesy voice they give young female characters in an attempt to mimic the Japanese dub. Just speak naturally as that's one reason the British dub was so good. It's a problem with dubs of Japanese media, young female characters in homegrown American media sound perfectly fine.
I seen Azumanga Diaoh be the best in terms of that, but otherwise yeah many suffer from trying to give cute voices to all the girls.i cannot stand japanese high school anime dubbed in america for precisely that reason

Were those early reports of 3DS cartridges going up to 8GB bullshit?
Cause we have never had one above 4GB. Is it a hardware limitation or just cost cutting?
sörine;153565214 said:Nintendo themselves only ever confirmed 4GB. The 8GB max number came from a source at Macronix who supplies Nintendo with mask roms.
But I can totally see where people would want to take in the original vision of the director and calling it 'affectation' is bullshit.
The increasing amount of "dub shaming" as I call it these last few years is pretty damn gross.
DLC would be nice. Been done before.
The increasing amount of "dub shaming" as I call it these last few years is pretty damn gross. It's like people don't even care about the game part of the game anymore, unless the translation itself is bad (SAO and old NES titles bad), but it definitely isn't. It also seems like some people are incredibly tone deaf to boot. Not to mention the ones demanding 1:1 translations when the whole point of localization is adapting the script.
