So if you can't find fuel and you're stranded... what do you do?

Welp there goes my plans.

When I swap ship will I still be able to keep an old one? Or is it completely destroyed?

Leave it for someone else to find.

WTF this stream is somehow addictive to watch lol, almost got me to buy this fucking game even though i am sure it wont live up to the hype

Why's this 101010100101 streamer being so picky about planets? He's not even scanning.

Yeah his playstyle is annoying, to say the least. I guess he's been awake for so long he's just ventured into IDGAF territory now. That last rocky planet he skimmed by looked awesome but he just noped back into space.

And he flew right past a big monolith, and a station (while complaining about looking for a station).

Dude needs to go to bed.

Haha, watching this dude fucking reboot the game every time he makes a decision and regrets it is kind of funny.

That's fucking terrible. I saw this guy playing last night and couldn't stand that.

I am almost tempted to try for a copy of the game tomorrow despite having it ordered digitally. lol.

What this game needs is a website that acts as the galactic library and allows you to browse all the discovered species and planets with, and I know this is against the spirit of the game, coordinates of how to get there. I would say they should include a notes section for the pilot to chronicle his/her findings but I think that would be abused.

I feel like a lot of this discovery is just lost in the ether.

You CAN upload what you find to some kind of database. I'm not sure if that'll touch servers or not. I have to imagine it will since you forfeit your naming rights when you do so.

You'll need to swap ships to upgrade. Newer ships almost always have new slots but you can't add slots to existing ships. :-(
I could have sworn that I saw him open some kind of machine on a station which upgraded his inventory space. Maybe that was his suit. I dunno. It was late and I was in awe.

While we have definitely see some bugs, I think it is important to keep in mind how long the streamers have been playing for. I saw more bugs in my first two hours of Red Dead Redemption (my that carriage is jumpy).

How does online procedural generated stuff work versus offline play? From what we've been told people can visit planets that other people have already been to and named. If you're playing exclusively offline for some reason you will never see any of that, but is the algorithm magic behind the scenes even generating the same content for online and offline? If you visit a planet offline and six months later decide to log in online, does your naming data get uploaded? What if someone else already went there and named that.

I was a bit surprised when Hello Games said there would be offline play. I guess I'm not that clear on how people co-exist in this galaxy, or if they really do at all. You may never come across another player but what are the chances of coming across an already explored planet?

Is the pop in driving anyone else nuts? I mean, I knew it would have pop in, obviously, but the WAY this game uses pop in is just horrible. What appears to be a large mountain suddenly morphs into a rocky lump that looks nothing like the "mountain" did before you got close to it. How the hell am I supposed to see something in the distance and want to go explore it if I know that whatever that is in the distance looks NOTHING like what i'm seeing???

Don't get me wrong here, I'm still on the edge of my seat waiting for this and will buy it instantly, but I didn't expect the pop in to be so horribly done.

Not sure! Online play isn't enabled yet. I get the feeling that offline play won't let you see other people's discoveries. When you do go online your names will likely be sent to the server. If it conflicts with what someone else has found? Eh. It goes to whomever named it first I imagine.

I also get the feeling that the first systems you go to are all the same when you're offline? My friend and I both made it to the Euclid Galaxy where we encountered the same alien race.

My brief impressions from playing the game for about 3 hours yesterday is that this game is incredible if you're interested in the exploring angle. I decided to start walking around on a planet instead of flying around and... Man, it was so goddamn fun. There were new settlements to check out all the time and new mini-puzzles to solve.

If you're mostly interested in trading and combat this game isn't for you (even though getting attacked by pirates was really fun). It's going to be a perfect 45 minutes before bed game for me--or sit down and play it for huge chunks of time because it really can suck you in. One more thing! Oh man, ANOTHER NEW THING! Okay on--A NEW SHIP YEAH.

It's a good time.

Yes, offline or online the planet will be almost exactly the same. The seed for the initial galaxy is exactly the same so aside from naming it should be identical in terms of terrain, vegetation and animal life. The only other difference they've named is that you can wipe out a race on a planet (looks like this would be damn near impossible though) and that would carry forward to other players visiting the planet. And if you have discovered useful information (such as base locations) other players would be able to pick up on that.

I'd imagine that whoever is online first will get naming rights. You need to upload discovery details and if you're offline that wouldn't seem to be possible. From what I've understood unless you have a deliberate plan to visit a planet that's already been discovered it's unlikely that you'll stumble upon an already discovered planet.

Thanks for the input.

Pretty much how I thought it would work but the clarification was needed.

I am an exploration guy myself so this game looks like it's going to be perfect for me.

Not quite red grass but it's beautiful.

Edit: Fuck. Can't do a screencap right now and he's flying away. It was red vegetation but the whole place was filled with it.

Ok, he landed again. This planet is beautiful. The water looks beautiful as well.

help me out:

there was a leaked screencap of a nice planet, where a massive rock was coming diagonal out of the planet surface. It was a rocky greenisch planet....

anyone can shre this pic??

the soud and music in this game is pretty damn good ! everything else looks good to me too ! cant wait...so mad i go back to work the day the game comes out tho

You talking about sentient alien races? Because they're all the same. Hand-crafted. Not procedural.

And he flew right past a big monolith, and a station (while complaining about looking for a station).

Dude needs to go to bed.

What's that stat about cognitive function vs sleep deprivation?

It's like an exponential relationship after a certain point. After you've been up 15 hours your cognitive function drops off hour-on-hour to a huge extent.

Poor guy!

It was his suit that he upgraded, you must buy ships to get more space.

One thing that's been worrying me.

One some trailers\videos they showed planets with areas surrounded by huge trees and vegetation. Like forests or at least small forests.

Yet I still haven't seen that on any of the streams.

Any of you saw anything like that?

Edit: In example this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLtmEjqzg7M

As soon as the player gets out of the cave.

I haven't. Lush planets are pretty rare though.

I think we just have to wait for someone to get to the right planet. I saw a planet covered with red vegetation for the first time today, which gives me confidence that red grass is out there as well. I bet the same exists for trees. If you see a few trees on one planet, there might be another with an entire forest.

How does plant/animal distribution work on a planet?

Are there local populations or is it that when you see an animal/plant on one spot, its probably going to be sprinkled around the whole planet?
