No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Saw this on another forum...

Hi!
Just passing by to solve the problem, imho
The problem is not the seller is the buyer. He is a farse! He did this kind of thing before just for attention.

I have alternate ideas:

No Man's Sky [OT] - What do you do?

No Man's Sky [OT] - It's only 30 hours?!

I know it's No Man's Sky [OT] - Hello Worlds, still have a soft spot for No Man's Sky [OT] - Confirmed by over 30 Gamestops though. It was an early (though far from the first) indicator of the madness of the NMS community.

I just wish people find ways to mod stuff like in Space Engineers, here's a picture of a 750km planet vs 19km planet. The moon in the background is 75km.

BTW, the last info I had about that game said "It currently takes 45 minutes to fly around a 50k radius planet at 115 m/s."

I'm really wondering how some of you can measure the relative size of these planets.

They're not earth-like, but they're pluto-like. Oh, and of course: "none of those planets seems big enough".

How so? I mean, it almost (ALMOST) looks like anything is good to piss on the game. xD

If they said multiple times they're earth-like, it means that more or less they are comparable in size to earth, and not mercury or pluto or anything smaller.

Unless you come up with a way to actually measure this, I'd say it's just BS.

EDIT: something something the leaker is lying? I kinda called it xD

So here are some grabs I took of his demonstration for the 'upgrade bug'.

You can see a lot happening here.

First - white circle I think means core tech upgrade level? I'm not 100% sure. However, you can see there is sometimes a relationship between the highlighted colour of a grid of equipped upgrades and the stats to the right, as seen on ship specifically.

Now take a look at the tool stats. It's laser stats are very low, and none of them match up with the green upgraded laser modules. And projectile and grenade are much higher, although the relationship between the upgrades and the colours seem ambiguous.

My best guess is there is a base stat multiplier for colours, and it -might- go into negatives. If you have a -2x bonus multiplier for green upgrades to your laser, it follows that you wont see your green bar go up, and the actual ability of your laser drops.

That's my guess, at least

The color coding is indeed ambiguous, but let me show you this

Two upgrades installed instead of three, or even no upgrades at all: the stats look exactly the same.

Game looks pretty boring and repetitive, to be honest. Having to constantly refuel the various systems like life support will get old fast. Retrodigital's had to refuel life support twice in three minutes.

The temperature detection also seems to be borked on the planet he's on.

The temperature detection seems messed up on a bunch of planets. This game has quite a few bugs it seems.

Yes - which aligns with the idea of a negative multiplier on the stat (OR laser is entirely bugged, but lets go with negative multiplier) if this gun is so bad with green coloured laser upgrades that it has a negative multiplier and maybe a 0 base, any upgrades given will not make the bar go up, and any 'points' that would be given from the upgrade would bring the 'mining speed stat' down.

COMPLETELY MADE UP STATS, TO HIGHLIGHT WHAT I MEAN:

Laser Stat Bonuses:
Mining Laser OverHeat Bonus: -2.0x
Mining Laser OverHeat Base Stat: 0
Mining Laser overHeat calculated Stat: 0

(add 200 points of mining laser overheat from upgrades)

Mining Laser OverHeat Bonus: -2.0x
Mining Laser OverHeat base stat: 0
Mining Laser OVerHeat calculated stat: -400

Something like that is what I am imagining.

Things that can change temperatures:

Being under or above ground
Day/Night cycle
Storms
????

What you might be seeing is temperature change associated with these things.

The only disappointing part for me so far is that once you reach the end of the first galaxy and go to the new one, you can't go back to planets you've visited.

I love the idea of visiting your favourite places again.

Didn't even know it was coming :P Sweet.

Yeah, I was pleasently surprised.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/elite-dangerous-is-coming-to-ps4-braben-clarifies/1100-6425716/

Elite: Dangerous will eventually ship on a number of platforms, including PlayStation 4, its creator has said.

David Braben, the founder of Frontier Developments, wrote on Twitter that the Xbox One edition is actually a timed console exclusive. This clarification comes just a day after Braben discussed the project as an Xbox One exclusive.

When congratulated by a fan for porting the game to Xbox One, Braben replied: "Sure. Mac of course, then down the line we will support more, including PS4. The XB1 is a timed exclusive."

So I know that there is a supposed 'end' to the story in the game, but can you keep playing and exploring planets even after that? Like endlessly (even though that might be too much lol)?

It should be easy enough to fly to the opposite side of a planet's point of interest, get out of your ship and start walking towards it with your cursor over it to get a time estimate. If it's one hour then that's not very big. If it isn't possible to look at one on the opposite side then one 1/4 of the way around the planet should be enough.

The hype surrounding this game has been surreal. Reading through earlier threads about the game has been a great ride.

Some people have compared this game to something Peter Molyneux would create (or "creatively" talk about).
I don't really agree with that.

Peter Molyneux would have promised that you can do all kinds of outrageous stuff.

The thing to note is that the developers of this game hasn't really done that.
It's all in the minds of the players.

In every thread regarding this game you would have lots of people dreaming up what you would do in the game, stuff that never was promised by any developers.

"I will build my own series of space station burger joints throughout space!"

"I will live a calm life among the whales in the pink sea."

"I will be a benevolent ruler to the wild zebras and teach them how to dance the fandango!"

The amount of ridiculous stuff people dreamt up about this pretty simple rogue-like space-exploration game is truly incredible.
Some people really need to keep the hype-levels in check.

I understand what you mean, but how are we supposed to know that there's a hidden negative stat that undermines our attempts to have a better multitool?
Besides, the level 3 description reads "Attains longest span of uninterrupted element extraction possible for all current Mining Beam technologies".
The longest span becoming the shortest because of an hidden stat would seem quite arguable IMO.

Also, take a look at the weapon upgrades: no correlation between them and the stats shown. It's unintelligible to me.

Btw I'm really kicking myself right now. I stopped recording just as that sweet ship appeared in the last stream. Been trying to stay on top of streams and get some nice webms out of them.

We've already seen waypoints clocking by 2 hours just to recover your nearby ship.

So yes, it could be a valid method, but it's pretty easy to see the planets are huge.

And I don't get why we have to constantly doubt everything the devs ever said (which I remind you, has been 100% spot on so far).

in dubio pro reo

Well, the negative values is still a complete guess, and I'm not willing to bet on that - but consider this:

All upgrades do effect the weapon they are on
Upgrades that 'chain' together have additional bonuses
There is a base stat/base stat multiplier for certain stats on a weapon/tool

Additionally, there is this weird thing I am seeing with the badge and an icon like a fire, a number up upwards facing arrows and a +[num] val, which also seems ambiguous.

It's obvious there is a lot more going on with upgrades than literally just 'put an upgrade anywhere in a weapon slot and then it should just work' - but WHAT is happening is all just a guess from here. I would be surprised if 50% of my guesses were right.

edit: retrodigitial back on twitch

I'm really hoping that patch can make a difference. IDK about how many bugs are actually confirmed, but it may be best for reviewers to go in on release day. As stated before, many other excellent games have gone without pre-release reviews.

Opinions and all that, I know.

Yeah, of course. If you don't like the game because of the gameplay or anything similar, fine, but if you are trying to suggest that they are actually bad and deserve to be ranked among the lowest of low, you are craaazy. I hate Destiny for example. First game I've ever bought blind; didn't like anything but the visuals. However, I would never call it a bad game, just one that I can appreciate for the polish while keeping my distance.

Like Destiny, The Division. Doom is the exception to the rule.

Most of the cases it is a red flag, unfortunately. Hopefully this game ends up breaking that rule, but we'll see.

Loads of people like Destiny though. There is no rule.

The game is buggy as hell, they probably want to patch it.

Haha yeah, lots of crazy theories. What should Sean do though? Spoil the games ending to stop people from speculating?

We dont even know if thats the end of the game.

How so?

I hope this game gets good post release support and added features but I sure as shit know what I'm getting into at release.

This little shit on the stream I was watching kept analyzing plants and animals but not renaming them.

What kind of monster does that?

Schadenfreude.

That and they literally want to tell people over and over again how much smarter than them they are.

Why do the streamers all seem to have so much trouble understanding they need to sell their shit for money and buy the upgrade parts for their hyperdrives!
