No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

he's trying to be the "good guy" he won't do it.

It'd be nice to at least know what he thought of it.

Exciting, disappointing, fun, lame...did credits roll, etc.

I think another one of his recent posts gave some insight into his thoughts on the center and the game in general though.

I realize no one likes it when the hype balloon deflates a little, but TRUST ME when I say the hype on this game is WAY TOO FUCKING HIGH right now and you're better off having the hype die down a week before the game drops so you can adjust your hype levels instead of having the hype ball slow down on you while you're playing it.

Well, he just reached the center:

Okay, if this person is telling the truth then I think it's fair to say this game has some problems. The fact that one person is able to point out numerous bugs and problems with the game is worrying. I've always thought this would be the type of game that would have benefited from Steam Early Access and reading his opinion about it needing a public beta test validates that to a degree. Still looking forward to playing it, but going to maintain my skepticism so as not to get overhyped.

I don't believe that if you reach the center you simply start again in another galaxy, that reeks of desperate grasping at straws, but seems like the guy who made it is deliberately avoiding answering the question.

All he says is
There is no such thing as a "Universe" in this game, it is not a term that is used at any point.

edit: Ok from further comments I'm getting the impression its the end and for some reason hes just not outright saying it. No credit roll, but there you go.

He also says this:

There is no such thing as a Universe in this game. What you see representing the "Center" is a Galaxy.

Sean very clearly said they started working on the Day 1 patch literally the day after RC1 went gold.

They are probably still crushing game bugs as we speak.

he's trying to be the "good guy" he won't do it.

it's pretty obvious that he's just desperate for attention and trying to milk it as much as possible

I'm certain he'll spoil the game before it actually comes out so no one can beat him to it

Lol the subreddit is filled with angst and hate. Such a depressing read

I'm probably not even going to buy this game, but I really want to know whats at the center. Dude should just spoil it

There is no 'universe' only a single 'galaxy'?

Surely that's not right?

I never said there wasn't multiple galaxies, and I understand that's supposed to MEAN = Universe, but I am saying the term "universe" is never used in the game, it does not exist, the galaxies are not connected in that regard in any way whatsoever. Make of that what you will.

he won't go into more detail

I don't know why people dislike reading negative stuff about a hyped up game.

I was hyped. But these impressions turned my expectations down a bit. I truly wish that the game is good though. I'm sure it will be, but I hope that it will have that extra thing that makes it into a great game.

The premise is amazing, anything else would be a waste.

People should be glad that they are getting a warning so they can make an informed purchase instead of whining.

He needs to, because what he is saying at the moment is contradictory.

He says its a single galaxy, no universe, then says the galaxies aren't connected, what does that mean?

You finish one and just start another? Roguelike sytlee?

Can you change galaxies though? I got the sense from that post that there is one galaxy, or at least that you can't go to others?
Reading between the lines of what reddit guy is saying, you play one level (galaxy) get to the centre, and then start the next one, I'd imagine the upgrades are persistent?.

No overarching goal.

Some positives:

While I still haven't found a planet flush with Plants and Fauna as some of the trailer planets (I'll attest this to Sean's claim of those super full and awesome planets being a REALLY low chance to find) I will say that the terrain and overall vibe of the planets has been surprisingly refreshing. I never really have moments where I land on a planet and say, "Oh no, not this one again." They have a lot of variables in the procedural - even the most mundane things like coloring can mean a world of difference. One planet may seem VERY different from another simply because one is purple and another is yellow - you don't notice the similarities as much this way.

Everything is very smooth. The space combat, the entering / leaving your ship, the warp jumps, all of it just feels really sharp while you're playing. I really enjoy the space flight, it's quick enough that I don't sit around twiddling my thumbs but it's long enough at times where I legit feel like I'm traversing a realistic space-distance.

The noises and sound in this game are some of the best I've ever experienced. The animal noises are incredible. They set the mood in such fantastic ways - you'll hear them from quite a ways off and it really sets the tone for that planet. It's very immersive.

no talk about black holes, no talk about ringed planets, no talk about stars...

yeah, he didn't do all the job

If this game is as big as people want it to be, maybe you can beat it without encountering stuff like that?

My belief is, multiple galaxies that are not interwoven.

You reach the center of one, you're warped to the edge of another.

That's what I took from it too. Have to suspect you'll get some kind of bonus for "prestige-ing."

half survival game, half clicker

He already said you can't beat the game. There is no end. You get to the center of your galaxy, see whats there and the way I interpreted is you can go to another galaxy that doesn't co-exist along side the one you were in. If there was a new secret in the center everytime it would be interesting.

I'm sure that's what most people will consider "beating the game" though. Especially the way the center has been talked about by the devs.

Well after reading all those spoilers, good I didn't wait for this game like it's Jesus.

Still going to buy it, but expectations are where they should be.

Thanks Dan. Which quote gave you this sense? I thought I read all of what he wrote and I didn't see that, so I'm eager to read that.

I thought you can warp to a different galaxy but it will never take you closer in a center of the universe sense?

It kinda seems like "universe" isn't a thing for this game anymore, though. The leaker I think said it's not mentioned and that the given goal is to get to the center of the galaxy.

My belief is, multiple galaxies that are not interwoven.

You reach the center of one, you're warped to the edge of another.

Is that the spoilery thing you think he's avoiding saying? I guess I just don't want to get my hopes up.

Multiple galaxies not connected, as I said I am reading between the lines, but I can't think of another logical conclusion.

I guess what I meant is that I didn't see (and maybe I missed it) an indication from the leaker that you can access another galaxy. I understand you're reading between the lines, just wanted to know which lines gave you the sense there's any way to access another galaxy at all. ☺

It's a good point, but I fail to see how, or why, a proc-gen game like this would only allow the player to access a single galaxy.

I think the 18 trillion planets thing may have been taken out of context, maybe it was 18 trillion possible combinations of planets for the generation of each separate galaxy?
