No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Which are all reviews... so who cares if they get copies before or on the day... I know, right?

Unless the developers are having problems (bugs that need fixing, etc), I can't see how releasing review copies on the same day isn't a lack of confidence. Sorry but that's just how I see things.

Opinions and all that, I know.

Oh I know, which is why I don't bother with reviews anymore. TW3 is one of the most highly regarded games ever, I cannot play it for more than 10 hours without getting bored. I'm on my 4th attempt now, on PC this time and I still can't. Mad Max on the other hand I adored and it was one of the most interesting open world third person games I've played in recent times.

I think you protest too much - this is the 3rd thread you've said this or posted your little red flag pic....

Second, actually, I'm mainly posting here, just saw the other thread. And I'm not protesting, just saying that it doesn't inspire me with confidence.

I ordered it on Steam and it defininitely said 12th August when I did it (UK).

Urgh, the pain of having to use a free proxy to unlock a popular game.

Any word about framerate?

Not that I am aware of. I wish someone with capture gear, or someone who can tell what 60fps looks and feels like, can get the game. It would have been confirmed a long time ago if daymeeuhn could tell the difference or record at a higher quality. I 100% certain it is 60fps myself.

How so?

Just because some really popular games have done so in the past?

Moreover: we only have a single online source saying they're not getting a pre-launch review copy (actually they may receive it after all, going by their last tweet).

So? Jumptoconclusion.jpg?

Underground alien lake, fuuuuck that.

Edit: that whole sequence was damn cool. He went underground, found water, went swimming, didn't understand that he needed to breathe, eventually figured it out and found an opening that led outside, first thing you see as he is rushing up for air is the outline of another planet

My wife will not be able to watch me play when I go spelunking or deep diving. It will freak her the fuck out.

Well, the negative values is still a complete guess, and I'm not willing to bet on that - but consider this:

All upgrades do effect the weapon they are on
Upgrades that 'chain' together have additional bonuses
There is a base stat/base stat multiplier for certain stats on a weapon/tool

Additionally, there is this weird thing I am seeing with the badge and an icon like a fire, a number up upwards facing arrows and a +[num] val, which also seems ambiguous.

It's obvious there is a lot more going on with upgrades than literally just 'put an upgrade anywhere in a weapon slot and then it should just work' - but WHAT is happening is all just a guess from here. I would be surprised if 50% of my guesses were right.

edit: retrodigitial back on twitch

I hope we'll know soon enough.

HOLY SHIT I NEED TO SEE THIS

Why do the streamers all seem to have so much trouble understanding they need to sell their shit for money and buy the upgrade parts for their hyperdrives!

I mean, some of that stuff is dumb, but on the other hand, a lot of mechanics don't seem to be very well explained. for all the people yelling at the one dude for not putting upgrades in the right slots of his inventory... I'm not sure in the 5-6 hours I've seen so far I've seen anything that explained that shit

Based on?

I'm going off what the devs said. If you have evidence on the contrary though, or any actual measurement, feel free to enlighten me.

The thickness of the atmosphere for starters. The highest clouds on earth are located 80 km above ground level. Looking at a lot of streams it certainly doesn't appear anywhere near that.

They are probably more like Mercury sized or Pluto sized. Still huge enough.
For sure. This game even makes the case for not having overly large planets (ignoring the fact that smaller planets would have trouble retaining an atmosphere).

Given the speed you're burning through with, I don't think that's a great way to judge the planet's size.

And even then, having a pluto-sized planet is still a fucking huge playground.

Still, I don't get the constant nitpicking over things that are very difficult to discern at this moment.

Well, looks like I'll be swapping R3 with L3

Had a chat with someone in another thread about this.

Imo R3 is away better place for run. You'll never accidentally start sprinting when you push forward and will be able to stop sprinting whenever you want (I always have to stop and start when it's on l3)

Why is it a nitpick? And given the general emptiness of the planets there are certainly no real reasons to make them larger, even it doesn't cost them anything to develop.
