No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Nice, particularly the one looking out over the "sea".

Not a fan of the "piss filter" on many of those shots though, but I am assuming it's representative of a noxious atmosphere on that planet?

Yes, it varies depending on the light and of course the light varies depending on the atmosphere.

haha it wasn't a slight or anything. Just thought I remembered you wondering aloud multiple times in various NMS threads whether there'd be black holes or not, that's all ;) Could be misremembering though.

No, it's fine. But you've definitely got me mixed up with somebody else, hence my confusion.

Does the game still have red grass like the older trailers?

Everything on one planet follows a colour coordination algorithm. The grass is coloured in such a way that it's pleasing to the eye in the context of everything else around it, either in harmony or in contrast. So, yes, grass can be red or blue or purple or any shade of colour.

There are 18 quintillion planets, we've seen a few grains of sand in all the deserts of the Earth.

I'm not buying unless I too get to the see the evolution of fish.

Damn just a fucking question either yes or no. Fuck with all the stupid ass comments. Smh

afaik we haven't seen any in leaked footage, but one would assume it to be in. After all it is just texture for grass and requires certain, hopefully, logical atmosphere conditions to exist.

Watching some of the leaked videos on youtube and the performance on the PS4 looks great!

That was my biggest fear with this game, nice!

Im just messin around. Didnt mean to offend. There is probably grass of every color on some planet somewhere in those near infinite amounts of planets out there.
Thanks. Only asking because all the images ive been seeing going around most if not all the grass was green.

I wonder if there will be planets with as deep forests as Endor. Or a planet overrun by that green goo we've seen infesting some abandoned outposts.

Does every planet and moon have an atmosphere?

Seems like every planet has an atmosphere, which is disappointing. But not every planet has a moon.

I think very few of them have breathable atmosphere considering in every stream and on every planet I have seen suits lifesupport system being drained, on top of that there has been usually some hazard like extreme radiation levels.

I could be wrong.

You see this is one of the few games I've found myself enjoying watching. Maybe if you don't like watching it you won't enjoy playing it?

There are some games that one can really can enjoy watching on stream. There are also games just doesn't click with twitch streaming no matter how charismatic the streamer is.

That doesn't mean it's a bad game overall.

Did one of the streamers show a new design for the ship? We are led to believe that ships are customizable but I have yet to see any exterior customization. Maybe it's all a part of HG's master plan to encourage those of us buying the game to actually delve deep into it.

The original leaker's review sold me on the game. I'm talking his dailymotion one. That one is the best review of the game we'll see until official reviews hit.

This game is very good for streaming, you can already tell, since it will be ultimately be different for anybody. There's something in you that just want to know where another person got for his starting planet ;)

I honestly can't really watch things like overwatch on twitch for too long, but it's a great game, however I literally had two streams going at one point last night, watching and commenting with a drink in hand and was having a (frustrating, motherfucker you should have bought that suspension fluid) blast.

I don't know if this is true, but if you watch the streams and think "this game seems boring, but maybe I'll like it more when I play it" it may be the game isn't up your alley. Whenever I watched, I was just constantly thinking of things I wanted to do

One streamer found a downed ship, and this one could be repaired. It came with a completely randomized different look and some built in upgrades and a different inventory layout. He repaired it and took off with it.

so how long do people plan on staying on their starter planet...

the explorer in me wants to spend plenty of time there, because I know it will all be of some interest....

From what I can tell "no/little atmosphere" is what causes the O2 meter to show (like when underwater, and as opposed to the heat/cold meters). I know I saw it on at least one planet or moon in a stream.

I imagine I'll stay on each planet for as little time as possible. People gloat that each planet is, well, planet-size, but so far I don't think we've seen any evidence that you won't see everything a planet has to offer within a square kilometer or so. Has there been evidence of the contrary that I may have missed? If so, PLEASE share. Because I assume that every planet is just the same thing repeated over and over around the entire surface (not repeat of exact shapes, but all the same elements in use). For example, I doubt you'd find some super rare find if you land only in the exact spot of an entire planet.

So for it would be get in, get what I need, take in the sights for a few minutes, and get out.

hours and hours...

seriously I'm the type of person who spends at least 2 hours in a house in Fallout just to search every single corner possible.

I think naming things is one of the aspects of this game I'm most looking forward to. I wonder how many Zebeses and Arrakises and Hoths there will be in the universe.

The game isn't really built for long term single planet exploring. You find way more stuff going from planet to planet. Everywhere you go on each planet looks broadly similar. I mean maybe of there's a particularly nice planet you just like to chill out on, but other than that it's all about moving on and finding new things no one ever has.

yeah i look forward to landing on Hoth27685 or something...

or Arakis.. or Harkkonen Prime etc :)

I like the fact that you get money for renaming things. Kind of provides a point to it beyond customisation.

Until I see repetition in the flora and fauna, then I'll be off to pastures new to find something else!
