No one playing Phoenix Wright 3?

Guys, a quick question: In Justice for all, why was Wrighto this mad at Worthy again?
He thought Edgeworth fled/quit being a prosecutor because he lost his perfect win record, so he thought Edgeworth was being cowardly.

I'd like to say it was something like abandonment issues, but PW2's last case is all about Edgeworth teaching Phoenix some weird lesson about what it means to be a lawyer according to Edgey's own philosophical beliefs. and, Phoenix says at some point in case 3 that he hates prosecutors because they're all scum who want a guilty verdict regardless of the truth, aside from possibly "him" (meaning Edgeworth).

The reason why Phoenix is angry that Edgeworth left (and the reason Edgeworth actually left) differs on whether or not you factor 1-5 into the equation.

In the original (that is, GBA Japanese version), Edgeworth left because he realized that his entire motivation for being a Prosecutor was a lie, that his mentor hated his guts, and that if he didn't leave and find his own reason for prosecuting, he'd merely be going through the motions in the end. Phoenix is angry at Edgeworth leaving because he'd just busted his gut trying to rescue Edgeworth against a man who'd been undefeated for 40 years. (p.s. that's the same basic lesson that Franziska has to learn as well, and any of you who call her character flat - play 2-2 and 3-5 back to back and see for yourself)

With the new case 1-5, Edgeworth's motivations come to light when Gant tells hims that 'He'll know what's needed in the end'. Gant's comparison of himself and von Karma to Edgeworth rattles Edgeworth deeply, because obviously Edgeworth doesn't want to become like either of them. Furthermore, he used forged evidence, even if unknowingly, which means that his convictions are not what they seem, and a lot of the accusations hurled at him would thus bear weight. Edgeworth thus leaves to find out what it means to be a prosecutor, and what he needs to do in order to ensure that he doesn't become like Gant or von Karma. Phoenix, here, is angry because he believes Edgeworth ran away from his responsibilities as a prosecutor instead of facing up to them, not knowing that the reason Edgeworth left is precisely because he needs to properly understand his responsibilities in the first place.

Finally finished this today. The last case was EPIC, and the conclusion with all its story resolutions and conversations between the main characters was really nice. Truly a worthy ending to this great trilogy.

It'll be interesting to see if Apollo Justice pulls me in like the three PW games did.

Also (PW3 spoilers),
Dahlia is a witch.

Iris is heavenly, though. :)

Finished it last night. It was a nice conclusion to wrap up a trilogy IMO. Tied together lots of the stories and characters.

I hope the next one starts off a new story branch with new characters and completely avoid everything with DL-6, SL-9 incidents and any throwbacks to the previous games.

Start fresh and make a new trilogy...

Wow, you've made quite an effort there. I'm still kind of having problems with Phoenix' reactions really. It doesn't quite match his usual behavior, if you ask me. I don't know. Anihawk might be right after all.

So I figure this is more of a catch-all thread for the series.

I'm playing through the first game and I am really hating this Steel Samurai case. I stopped playing the game for 2 months because it sucked so bad.

This is how it is for me:
1) After 4 hours of talking to people around in circles, I gather ZERO EFFING EVIDENCE
2) Spend an hour and a half going through the trial as the game figures out what I already knew: I have ZERO EFFING EVIDENCE
3) Games makes a SHOCKING REVELATION that had nothing to do with my efforts
4) Repeat steps 1-3
5) Make you fall in love with me... I mean, now I have to do one final day of research, which I'm guessing will have me end up with crap once again until yet again Edgeworth brings out someone who says something nobody knew.

This sucks, I don't even like the characters in it. Please tell me the rest of the game is as cool as the first case of the 3rd game (which is all of the 3rd game I have played).

Case 3 of PW1 is a filler case. Most people say they're the weakest cases in the series, and I agree, even though I like them more than most. All the other cases you've played are cases that add to the overall PW arch (1.1, 1.2, 3.1). Seems to me like you're just one of those people that is going to end up hating all of the filler cases. I definitely think you should keep playing though.

Also, you're not liking any of the characters in 1.3? You'll be seeing some of them again.

I don't mind filler in terms of story, I don't like how they aren't letting me use my brain to beat it. It's like those bosses in RPGs where they are unbeatable and you don't figure it out until you've used half your items. Except here it's like you actually know it's unbeatable, and for some stupid reason you have to keep fighting and using up all your items until you lose anyway, and then at the end the boss goes "wow, you almost got me, try again!" and gives you more items, then he does that TWICE and you have to fight that way, to death, 3 times, and then the boss commits suicide.

Case 4 and 5 are some of the best cases of the pheonix wrigh series by far. Tough out case 3 brother soon you will meet the best of the best prosecuters the series has to offer.

Finished it last night.

Ok...where do I begin..I love this game, I really do, the trilogy was wrapped up well and in a smart manner too -
what started with Dahlia all the way to her being Morgan Feys daughter, and Godots plot - good stuff...very good
. But...I cant help but feel it ended very quickly. Yes, questions were answered, there were even answers to questions from the first two games that I never thought would even be brought up again. But the ending - as in after the verdict was handed down - was a letdown a little. Im specifically referring to
Godot. I love this guy. But they could have done more with him in the ending - where he barely makes an appearance or is barely mentioned even
.

Ill also probably be hammered for this, but the idea of
Mia's spirit helping Phoenix out in court and just appearing there
- I started to find that too dull honestly, Id roll my eyes everytime that happened. Dull.

In the end, the game was great, quite funny (references to 300, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy IV, MC Hammer lol) and had some amazing scenes (
Ill never forget the part where I was like - could the killer be Godot :/ That was insane, and when the lights go out in court and you see only his visor im like holy shit
.

Best part of the game though?
PLAYING AS %$#IN EDGEWORTH. Thats when I realized how much I like Edgeworth more than 'Feenie'.

Funniest part?
Anytime Godot chucks his coffee at Phoenix. #@!$in classic. Oh, and Larry's proposal to having Franziska model for his "Franziska's whip lash splash" :lol And her response that her beauty can never be portrayed with a crayon :lol

Good stuff. Though I must admit, nothing in this game got nearly as intense as Justice for All's final case - Ill never forget that.

I’m putting off starting the final case. I just don’t want it to end. Apollo Justice sounds great, but I’m going to miss Phoenix Wright!

I'm partway through the final case, it's awesome but it's also sad knowing this is the last PW case. :(

my wife is telling me now that she wants to make a Godot cosplay outfit and have me wear it to AX this year :lol we'll see.....

They changed the name?
It was "Franzy's Whipity-Whip Trip
in the japanese version's english translation.
メイちゃんのムチムチ大冒険 :D

Just finished PW3 a couple of days ago. Perfect ending, wrapped up all the loose ends.
only thing missing was motherfuckin' Godot, most bad ass prosecutor ever :lol

Oh, and did anyone else want Phoenix to send Maya to the curb and end up with
Iris
? God, I fell in love with that woman :lol Anyways, awesome trilogy. As good as Apollo Justice sounds, I hope they send his ass back to where it came from and do a proper PW4, preferably on Wii.

I've finished it hours ago. Funny - it took me 6 months. Let me explain.

In the past, I was not able to put a PW game down. When i've bought it - and I always took the time to buy it the day it got released in Japan - I've started to play and not stopped till night - it lasted at least 2 days. Then everything was wrapped up, I was happy and I was looking forward to the next episode. But this time.. I don't know what happened. Was I burn't out? Was I in a bad mood? I think both was true. I've played as normal, until the fourth case, then something happened. I've put the game down at the very beginning of the case and it stayed there till december. I've tried again, but the result was the same. I don't know why I've did that. Something was out of place, I've grown tired with the overused characters, backgrounds.

But - thank God! - 4 days ago I've decided I need my PW dose. I've restarted the fourth case. I wasn't blown away by it, except from the ending
Oh my god, FINALLY a case without a win, hell it was time!
.

But then came the fifth, and, oh man. It's the best case ever. PW1 is my all time favourite, but this single case, this...this is perfect. In a sense, there were a few 'what the hell' moments -
a whole day elapsing after the bridge incident without any rescue attempts? In the 21st century? Helicopters or somethin'?
. And of course the whole
"nobody seems to be afraid of dead people talking?"

It's a masterpiece. I'm not satisfied with the ending tough - I miss the "Ok, this whole PW story ended" feeling, I think that more than this was supposed to happen if you want to abandon a whole cast in favor of a new one. For me, the true ending would be Phoenix and
Maya getting together, settling down, living happily after, never going to the courtroom again.

I'm REALLY looking forward to Apollo Justice, but I want Phoenix, Edgeworth (what a likeable MAN he became!) Maya, Pearl and Gumshoe back.

Playing the Apollo Justice flash demo made me realise I never finished off PW3. Time to get back to it I think.

Phoenix lost the last case in Justice for All also.

Finally got to case 3. This game has great a great buildup. Hmmm Maggey, Maya, and Mia in waitress uniforms....this might be my favorite case so far.:D
So. Hot.

Holy cow. Look at what I found:

Do. Want!

Getting to the end of case 2. Case 1 was pretty forgettable, despite the cool concept, but Case 2 is awesome. I'm to the second part of the trial -
to have the nagging "this is wrong" feeling I had through all of part 1 justified was awesome, even if it wasn't that surprising.

I can't believe 4 is coming so soon. Thank god 5 isn't finished yet - we'll have a year or two to get ready.
