No one playing Phoenix Wright 3?

Willingly. Iris was sacrificing herself this time to make up for her 'betrayal' at the Terry Fawles incident.

That reminds me of another thing I must have missed.

What exactly was supposed to be Iris's part in the fake kidnapping? I remember her saying she bailed out on it, but I don't really she how she had fit into the plan. Other than the kidnapping taking place close to the temple where she lived, I don't see how she was supposed to help. Didn't seem like a plan needed an identical twin.

In the middle of the 2nd case atm. Liking it a lot so far, but I feel like I need to take my headphones into bed now to play it so I can hear the music.

Put me in with Fire: I actually like the investigations more in PW than court battles. Court seems (keep in mind I've only played PW1 and PW2 so far) too arbitrary on where/when you can use evidence that you KNOW is the key. Whereas at least with investigation, you can keep harassing the person and not get penalised for it, where in court battle you'll get your ass handed to you for using the RIGHT evidence on the WRONG "testimony". Biggest flaw of the PW games by far.
In the same boat as you in regards to this.. maybe that's why I am loving the prospect of Professor Layton hitting our shores sometime soon. It'll be Famicom Club Detective all over again!

I'm on the third case now and man, has capcom said anything about increasing the text speed or giving us the option to do it? I fell asleep twice during the second case.

Just finished this gem yesterday night - so damn good.

I didn't really like playing as Mia in cases 1 and 4, but since they were only the tutorial case and a setup for the last case, I didn't mind it that much. Then again, being Edgey in case 5 (vs Franziska von Karma, no less!) was fucking awesome.

Cases 3 and 5 are among the best in the series, imo, only rivalled by the respective last cases in the first two games. Amazing game.

Godot the coffee-addict was fucking badass as a prosecutor.
Case 3 had two highlights: Mia as a waitress, and the reactions of the characters when Don Tigre shows up in court.
:lol

:lol So many good jokes in that game yet again.

Just finished it. Loved it. Thought this game was the first one where they really figured out how to best use
Mia. Unlike previous games, she wasn't ruining the end of every case for you by pointing out exactly what to do. I didn't mind playing as her, since it was nice to have some exposure to the character outside the usual, "Phoenix! Here is how you win!" thing she seemed prone to do. And the waitress thing was golden.
Very fitting end for the trilogy. Only one minor gripe: In case five,
I absolutely hated the default picture for Edgeworth when you saw him while investigating. His mouth looked weird, like he was smirking. But a lot of it was during lines when he shouldn't have been smirking, so I think it was just a weird-looking drawing.

I'm also really confused, given what little I know of GS4.
The whole end of this case was basically affirming Phoenix's lawyerness and his taking over from Mia. At some point I read Phoenix stopped being a lawyer in GS4? Does GS4 give an actual adequate reason? Or is it just fanservice?

I ordered this game from PlayAsia on the 21st August (cheapest shipping) and I am still anxiously awaiting it. I don't want any of it spoiled, so I can't really engage in discussion pertaining to it just yet.

I'm pretty sad it's all over. I can honestly recommend this game to anyone.
I think it's pretty safe to say that this series has one of the best in not the best cast of any videogame ever.
I'm surprised Ace Attorney isn't doing better sales-wise. It seems to me that this game has a very universal appeal. I mean, not everyone loves puppies or math problems, but everyone enjoys a good story.

I wish Capcom would make another Vs. fighter, especially since I KNOW it would have some Phoenix Wright characters (Franziska with the whip? Godot with coffee projectiles?).
On a sidenote, i've always wondered why Capcom never released a fighter for the DS.
I think the two screens would be useful for super jumps for example, and it could be online.

Was
Edgeworth's
theme ever used in the game? I can't recall if it was...

Anyhoo, after finishing this over the weekend I went back to the Gyakuten Saiban OST tracks to listen through the GS3 tracks now that I've went through the game. I have a new appreciation for the soundtrack now that I can link characters and events to the music. The "Gyaktuen Saiban 3 - Special Blend Mix" track is even more awesome now...I love the rock arrangement of the Cornered theme and how it transitions over to the rock arrangement of the Fey Sisters theme. This is the track they took the music from in the Phoenix Wright 3 trailer from E3.

I want my copy. NOW. :(

1 month, just wait one month for a supposedly polished copy.

Here is hoping Capcom follows through on the promise of fixing all those spelling errors.

Got this the other day and played to the 2nd case somewhere. I like the way the beginning case wasn't totally dumbed down like the 2nd game but had enough hints for total noobs.

So.. does anyone actually play screaming "Hold it!" into the mic? :lol

Finished the game couple of hours ago. Wow, just wow. The 5th case was really awesome
and Godot crying blood was even more awesome :D
I'm really sad that Phoenix Wright series ended :( Nothing will replace PW! NOTHING!

I do, at my house.

Don't worry, the ace attorney saga continues.

A new trilogy, a new cast, and a new set of annoyances to deal with.

Oh, obviously. Maybe not when round others (unless to piss them off), but if I'm sitting in my room? Yeah, I'm shouting it.

Yes it was, when Franziska made her whipping return. It wasn't Edgeworth, but it was very fitting since it's a "comeback" music.

Looking back at the GS2 OST,
there's a very similar sounding track with the same "Great Revival" title but with Franziska's name instead of Edgeworth
, so it works either way. :D

Is it just me or does the translation really suck this time?

And I'm not talking about typos but things like "alright" (everybody says it all the time), missing catchphrases (
Edgey's "Tsk, tsk..."
) etc.

Wait for the US release.
1) To support the US sales, and increase the chances of GS4 coming here.
2) The numerous amounts of typos found in the Japanese version will be fixed. (Confirmed by an admin at the Capcom forums) This is the type of game you will only play one time, so why not wait and play the best version possible?

Typos don't bother me at all. The whole translation feels sloppy and I doubt they will fix that for the US version.

Anyone notice a little tribute to FFIV in case 5?

When Godot(i think) tells something to the Judge, he responds with "I'm no spoony bard!" :lol

theres a GAF reference in there I think

I see Ive been forced to eat crow!

Is that a GAF reference?

I've said this who knows how many times already, but some people really need to get their perception of GAF's influence on the rest of the gaming society correct.

After replaying the case, I've changed my mind.

The person who reveals this to you is actually Dahlia under the guise of Iris (after the earthquake). Given this fact, I think she was just blowing off steam at her sister. Not to mention that her entire speech now kinda sounds like she was making an excuse for Dahlia's behaviour.

I think your first case in PW4 is about what happened to Phoenix that made him quit, but I'm not sure. At least in the trailer you see this Justice guy pressing him about some secret of his own.

Shit ! So people really don't want to get it or what ?

It's even coming to fucking EUROLAND (confirmed since July) so don't you dare fear for the US.

Just got to the first continue in Case 5. HOLY SHIT I get to
play as Edgeworth?!
So AWESOME!

How did I totally miss the fact that the NA version of this game was delayed from September 25th to October 23rd? I thought I was less than two weeks away from sweet Phoenix-y goodness. What the hell happened?

Just finished the game. ;_; I don't have anything constructive except... SO AWESOME.

Blue
Badgering both my roommates to finish the previous two games just so they can play through this
and get to case 5 with the appropriate background
.

It constantly amazes me in this series that whenever a character returns, I don't immediately think "hey, there goes Capcom skimping on the art budget," but rather "ohmigodiforgotallabouther FUCK YES".
Maggey is cute. :3 I'm glad she got together with Gumshoe in the end. I was heartbroken when she first rejected his weenies.

I will point out the obvious first and say that the Phoenix Wright games aren't low budget, they just have a small dedicated team that works on it. The staff roll is probably 7 people that do basically everything.

I'm completely in agreement.
For instance the animation of Phoenix drinking a cup of coffee at the end, if it was actually a low budget game, they would have just cut that.

It would be really nice to work on such a tight team =)

still waiting for my copy (Playasia)... damn!

Is it just me or does the translation really suck this time?

Argh... please guys, give to us that didn't play the game yet your two cents as well...
I don't mind typos ala PW2, but if the translations is fucked up then it's a whole different matter and one that will very much annoy me...

Just finished the game, does anyone have a screengrab or sprite rip or whatever of
that photo of mia and maya as kids with the sacred urn?

I just finished it. 3-5 was amazing but I have to give my props to 3-2. It was by far my favorite non end case. Luke Atmey was an absolutely awesome character. ZVARRI!

There are a few typos here and there, but definitely nothing that would kill your enjoyment of the game. I generally liked the translation. Don't worry. :)

So after completing all episodes episodes in the PW series, I'd have to rank them as...

14. Episode 1 (PWAA)
13. Episode 1 (JfA)
12. Episode 2 (JfA)
11. Episode 5 (PWAA)
10. Episode 3 (JfA)
9. Episode 3 (PWAA)
8. Episode 3 (TaT)
7. Episode 2 (PWAA)
6. Episode 1 (TaT)
5. Episode 4 (TaT)
4. Episode 2 (TaT)
3. Episode 4 (PWAA)
2. Episode 5 (TaT)
1. Episode 4 (JfA)

I was here earlier. I'm unfortunately moving slowly with this game but gathering speed. Just finished Case 3 last night, starting 4 tonight. I must take back some of my old statements, this game is definitely better than the original and certainly better than JFA. However, unless the last 2 cases change my mind (definitely possible), there's no better court moments than the rapid back-and-forth "OBJECTION! - OBJECTION!" over and over between Phoenix and Edgeworth in the original. The characters made that but so did the music, which doesn't live up in this game. I know I bitch about the music a lot but seriously.

The problem is that Trials and Tribulations have the best soundtrack melodically compared to the other GBA games. Unfortunately it is also the LEAST UPGRADED soundtrack to take advantage of the DS's capabilities.

Hence why it is the "music doesn't live up in this game." It sounds almost identical compared to the GBA version while the other two soundtracks got major upgrades moving to the DS.

Gyakuten Meets Orchestra makes it clear that GS3 has the best tracks.

The GS3 court suite, GS3 orchestral ending, and Godot Theme are easily the strongest soundtracks in the entire CD.

Oh and I would like to point out that the DS version has a weaker rendition of the Cross Examination themes (both Moderate and Allegro) and the Objection theme.
