No one playing Phoenix Wright 3?

I don't get the buzz over Case 2.

I pretty much figured it out in the middle of the last investigation section, and I hated the way the game wanted you to figure everything out in the last trial.

I actually liked Case 1 more. >_>

I would buy the first-seccond-third just because of the story and the previous ones are cheaper.

Third is the best, no question.

The first game is also really really good.

The second was okay. It had a lot of great moments but fell short of the first.

I would still play them in order though, since nothing else will make much sense.
 
Just beat the first trial. Already better than anything in PW2.

EDIT: Oh, and "we know whose milkshake brings all the boys to the yard" and "she doesn't poop!" were geniusly placed.

It should be coming from Gamefly. I'm really surprised at the pop culture references. I thought that the english version was done by the Japanese team since both versions are contained in the Japanese release.

I actually had no trouble at all in this game until Case 4 and thought it was a lot more straightforward on that front than the last two games.

And to answer CurseoftheGods, PW3 > PW 1 > PW 2, but start with the first one since the third one isn't going to have the same impact without it.

Ugh, ok, I'm forcing myself through the last case of PW2 before I go any further. The last part of the last case isn't bad, it's just that I made it so far and then lost, it's a pain to do everything again.
 
Just started playing a few days ago. Got to that part in case 2
after the first trial of case 2 I'm guessing there is another trial coming up

So far awesomeness.

As much as I love the 4th case in JFA, it goes on too long for my liking. It's my favorite probably so far, but it's not one that I would pick up and play as much as others.
 
can't find this thing. hell, today i went to an EB that showed they have it on their computer, they were looking for it for a good 15 minutes and couldn't find it. I had to leave cause i was working, i'll try tomorrow.

Thats funny. I was the complete opposite. Walked into EB. 2 Steps in: Hey can I help you find something? I asked for Phoenix Wright 3. By the time I got to the counter the lady had it waiting, and I handed my cash as I stepped to the register. Paid with exact change within 4 or 5 seconds, and left. In and out in less than a minute. Fastest GS trip ever.:lol
 
I just got this but I've never played one before. I just really wanted Phoenix Wright and the store didn't have the others. Of course, now I feel kinda dumb because I also picked up Puzzle Quest at the same time and have only played that.
 
I just thought of something. What ever came of Capcom announcing they would release Meets Jazz and Meets Orchestra in the US?

You might wanna hold off on going too much further in this one until you find the first two.

If it has to do with spoilers, I don't care.

If it has to do with the other not being quite as good, I've handled that with other games (Capcom fan here).

If it has do do with essential knowledge from previous games to fully appreciate this one, it may add some replay value!
 
Here just to say I'm playing it, but I don't want anything to be spoiled from the experience. I'm playing the last case, I'll be back when I'll have finished it.

A bit from all three categories. Whatever floats your boat I guess, I personally wouldn't do it.
 
Was the third case changed? the art for Elg looks sooo different than the rest of the cast...
and the whole yakuza turned into an evil dark italian mafia type family? and a yakuza guy turned into a typical wise guy? lol. Loved the GITS and SPARTA references though
 
OK, I finished the game a while back, and my original position stands. The cases and overall story of this game are the best in the series, by far. However, I did not have as much fun playing it as I did the original, due, like I said, mainly to the music.
 
Case 3 was absolutely wonderful. :D

What madness is this? The music so far has been great.
 
I find it difficult to rank these games. I love them all really.
I'll say this much though:
Just finished PW3 and case 5 is perhaps my third favorite in the series.
I'm gay for Edgeworth
even though case 5 has probably the worst
amount of mystic bullshit in it. Hopefully part 4 doesn't suffer as much though it probably will and whoever that new attorney is will have to defend a knight who was convicted of slaying a dragon or something.
I know it's silly because it is after all a videogame and most of the characters are stereotypes and/or suffer from typical anime plotlines. When it comes down to the actual cases I'd like to think "okay I can totally buy this..This is completely understandable when you look at it from a certain way."
I am a sucker for the fanservice though and despite it all it was a great time and I was hooked every minute for like 10 straight hours(!?).

As a note I'd put Cases 4 & 5 of the first Phoenix Wright over case 3.

Oh Good Lord at some of the lines in PW3 though. Seriously there were so many lines that reduced me to cringefest marathons.

At least I can finally sell this game. Putting it towards VF5 or maybe my Galaxy/Smash preorders.

As much as I want to take issue with the series at times I'm engrossed by it all the same. Though I imagine I'll forget everything that happened in PW3 in a month or two, just like PW2.

Oh yeah I forgot. I really liked case 4. Maybe it's partly due to the fact that I didn't have to bother with investigations/psycholocks(more like bollocks am I right lololol?).

The Phoenix Wright series exists on horribly contrived situations that no one in his/her right mind in the real world would ever believe happened. I hardly find Case 5 specific to such a criticism, nor is it even close to being the worse of the lot.
 
Wooo! Just finished last night. This game was fantastic.

Definitely the best of the series, IMO. The cast of every case is interesting and fun; there weren't any characters that made me wish for them to GTFO. The backstory on Phoenix and Mia is great (esp. since it gets us a bonus case). The investigation sections are hugely improved on both previous games: no more tedious and obnoxious trawls over the same five-area section over and over again (as the case 3s in both previous games are guilty of) and Psyche-Locks that are much more intuitive than some of the goofy ones in JfA. The soundtrack's also a huge step back up after the fairly weak second game.

I loved the ending, but I'm kind of bummed from what I know about GS4 so far.
What that ending should mean is that Phoenix Wright goes on to have a long, illustrious career in defending, but instead it seems that he turns into some sort of morally challenged piano-playing hobo. WTF? I don't want to know the game's big secret or anything, but does he at least go back to being a lawyer once the game's plotline has wrapped up?

You said exactly what I was going to say. If someone thought case 5 was "convoluted," they weren't really paying attention to the rest of the series: it's pretty comparable to PW1 Case 4, and has nothing on Case 5.
Also they really haven't been paying attention if they didn't expect channelling shenanigans -- they were central in JfA case 2, and since this game had to wrap up the dangling Morgan Fey plotline they were guaranteed to come back with a vengeance.

While I would say some of the cases threw in previous characters for tribute/amusement, case 5 is pretty serious and the linking everyone and their mother to the case was in bad weeaboo taste.

Case 4 was way more successful at it, and is the primary reason I hold PW3 in such high regard.

Considering that Case 5 is the grand finale and the Case that ties 5 cases together, it should damn well have been a link between everything. For reference it links case 2 from the first game, case 2 from the second game, and case 1 and 4 from the third game.

It really doesn't do anything unusual for the series at all. The Morgan Fey plotline was left unresolved in JfA and obviously needed to be resolved; Larry turns up in almost every case anyway, in all three games; Edgeworth and Franziska aren't "involved," Phoenix just calls them to do a favor for him (and their showdown in court is amazing.) Beyond that it actually has a pretty conservative cast, only introducing two new characters and not even bringing people back from cases 2 and 3.

including 300.
