I may double-dip and finally get this for 3DS. 170 hours is a lot, but I still have a lot to do...
Does it still have a large player base on Wii U? Will it be replaced soon? I want to jump in but worried I might be too late.
I've never had a problem finding people to play with, and I still play pretty regularly.

This + WWHD Bundle + Target B2G1 (Rayman+ Pikmin + Wonderful 101)

Monster Hunter Wii U (with update and the save data) is 6260mb (game 6085mb, update 163mb, save data 11mb).

Monster Hunter 3DS is 14284 blocks ~= 1786mb

The transfer tool is 107 blocks ~= 13mb

I'm feeling like I'll be throwing my money at the wall if I buy this. Shit, when is 4 supposed to hit the U.S.? If irks not coming within the next 5 months, I'll get it. Just have too much gaming to do between the Wii U and PAin, along with the 3DS.

I've never played a Monster Hunter game before so this might be a good day to start.

Definitely give it a shot. Make sure you force yourself through the first couple/few hours, it doesn't hit its stride until your first actual "Big Monster" hunt (the Great Jaggi). I personally gave up on the Wii version three times over the years before I finally managed to make it that far in the Wii U version, and once I did, I was in for over 200 hours almost non-stop.

It really is worth risking $30 for the chance that this game clicks with you, because the rewards far outweigh that cost.

Get it. It's almost assured we won't get a new MH in the next 5 months. Heck, probably not even in 2014 :(

I had a hard time with the controls when I bought Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for PSP on my Vita.

The camera was THE worst and it is an absolute deal breaker for me. But the game wasn't bad.

Is the camera an issue without a second stick for 3DS and do I have to have both versions for 3DS online to work?

I have a 3DS and Wii U. WHat should I do? If I wanna use the relay tool I have to connect my wii u via Ethernet cable right? And the transfer tool Ineed to have both version as well?

It still blows without a second stick. Might want to buy a frankenstick or Wii U.

Camera wasn't an issue for me because of the dpad on the touch screen but I also used the focus cam a lot as well. You have to have a Wii U to play the 3DS game online, so if you go that route, I'd just say get the Wii U version.

afaik you need a wii u, the free packet relay tool and a usb broadband adapter to go online with the 3ds version

Well there is now a soft-lock-on thing for the camera. It just refocuses the camera on the monster, but you will have to use the virtual d-pad if you want to change the camera on your own. Online will only work if you have a Wii U.

I don't think this would be for you considering that you played MHFU on the Vita which had a second stick that can be used, IIRC.

Well you can use the dpad like on Unite for the camera or use a touch screen camera... neither is very good for combat. In my opinion, the game is literally unplayable without a CPP. Then again, I never tried the claw method on PSP.

You need the Wii U version to play online.

you need a wii u, you don't need the wii u version

I play the 3DS version quite comfortable. Not as good as two sticks, but the focus cam fixes almost all the problems. Also the d-pad for the cam on the touch screen is easy to reach.

If you have a Wii U, get the U version. It's superior.

If you want to play online with the 3DS, you need a free tool which can be downloaded from the eShop and a USB-Ethernet cable for the U.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet this seriously makes me want to get the 3DS version too... 19€ is a steal...but I already have tons of games to buy @_@

Buying this game will net me enough points for another $5 code.

That means I have a total of $25 from codes I've saved up over the last 3 months.

That means Wind Waker will only be about $35!

And I'll get another $5 code!

Fuckin love the Wii U right now.

How much is it originally on the shop?

Looks like a great deal on both systems. As someone who has never played MH would I be better off getting the 3DS or WiiU version as a first timer?

Ubisoft has had a couple 30% off sales there already, plus many indie devs. This isn't anything new really.
Looks like I missed those because I never saw such good deals like this MH3 -50% sale.
But good to hear that there were comparable deals like this before. :)

Can you combine codes?? If so, I've got three I need to burn through...

I prefer the Wiiu version myself. :D

Thinking about this, but curious, does the 3ds version have online play, or will I have to find other people to play with physically? Of my group of friends I'm probably the only one who would get this, but w/o the multiplayer, I just don't really care much, as everything I have heard is that mp is the reason to play.

What kind of hard drive do you have? I want to start getting my free digital 10% saving promotion and Windwaker,Wonderful 101 and Cod Ghost and AC 4 black flag will fill up my poor 32 gb hard drive. $5 for every $50 purchase by time Donkey Kong TF is avaible I am going to cash in my promotion points.

Honestly, I would go with the Wii U version. The game is difficult to control on a good day, and using dual analog gives you the best option. Plus the increased IQ and screen size will help you to get more immersed as a beginner, which you will need because this is not an easy game to jump into.

To me, all these discounts and released games seem like the Wii U is finally launching, almost a year after the launch. I sense an inevitable purchase coming soon.

Do you have a WiiU? If so, there's an app you can download on the WiiU that lets the 3DS go online.

Also, I hope this means they want to raise the fanbase for MH4...
