NPD: Canadian VG Sales Gain in First Half

According to NPD Canada, a division of The NPD Group, first half videogame sales in Canada totaled $251.0 million in the January-June 2004 period.
Software sales accounted for $149.0 million of the total, a 16.0 percent jump from the first half of 2003. Hardware sales dropped 15.0 percent in year-over-year results, to $68.0 million.
The videogame accessory market grew 13.0 percent so far this year, to $34.0 million.
NPD reported earlier this month that first-half videogame sales in the U.S. were off 2.5 percent from 2003, adding up to $3.4 billion.
