I thought about it, and if he did do it on purpose, he wouldn't want to admit it for insurance reasons. In Canada since it's universal healthcare (not everything is covered, but things like a hospital stay and surgery is covered), a crook can rob a bank and get into a shootout with police. If the cops shoot him, his trip to the hospital and injury coverage is paid for.
