Indeed.stilgar said:The cliché about Europe (I actually thought it was about France only) and Jerry Lewis really sounds like the most elaborated hoax on earth, right behind the Loch Ness monster.
Mael's already to it, but yeah, check his profile. I don't toss out stereotypes without checking first, yeesh.stilgar said:The cliché about Europe (I actually thought it was about France only) and Jerry Lewis really sounds like the most elaborated hoax on earth, right behind the Loch Ness monster.
cantona222 said:NSMBWii will sell much more than Super Mario Galaxy. is it because of the 3D vs. 2D thing? or are there different factors?

Sadist said:Indeed.
Or as we say in Holland: France is a nice country, to bad the French live there.
Oh, I love the French. It's just a bit of locker-room teasing, is all.Mael said:That's okay I hate French too, others that is
btw the place where they make the only decent cheese out there can't be that bad
At least this place is as advertised, friendly and welcomingSegata Sanshiro said:Oh, I love the French. It's just a bit of locker-room teasing, is all.
Holy crap what am I reading :lolstilgar said:Too bad you weren't here a few hours ago! The kind words I'd have used to answer :lol

That means me.
gamergirly said:The question is what would Super Mario Galaxy have sold if it was released on the userbase today? You have to think about the fact that there are 20 million+ Wii owners NOW than THEN
Sadist said:Hey hey hey, don't forget Dutch cheese![]()
baki said:The same. At some point, the install base does not make much of a difference.
This why FFX, MGS 2, Gran Turismo 3 sold more than their successors on a considerably smaller userbase.
Yes, yes it is :]Glass Soldier said:Is Gouda Dutch? I love Gouda. In fact, it's my favourite sort of cheese.

As I am also part of Swiss-Cheese GAF.
ha ha ha.

As a representative of the Dutch community, we accept your love.Glass Soldier said:I love you and your country.
I second this.Shig said:barf
DK Jungle Beat 2 or GTFO
Mael said:Baah if you can't taste the rotten milk while eating it, it's not really cheese
seriously THIS is really awesome, coupled with a good wine and it's pretty close to perfection
Glass Soldier said:Hey, I like French cheese too, but take that shit about being the only country with tasty cheese back! >:-V
nightez said:Wow you actually liked the hideous graphic style in Yohsi's Island? But you hate the one in NSMBWii.
osoul said:I guess you are just trolling. I don't want you to love the artstyle of YI, but I haven't seen anyone on the Planet, who called it "hideous" seriously.
The whole thing is so aesthetical, appealing, and so much effort was put in there. Yoshi's Story, and for the record, NSMB art direction remind me of the kid show Teletubbies. The way Mario is moving, WTF?

Teletubbies wished they had the same art direction like Yoshi's Island or NSMB Wii :lolosoul said:The whole thing is so aesthetical, appealing, and so much effort was put in there. kame-sennin said:NSMB already settled the debate. At the end of the day it will have sold 2-3 times as many copies as Galaxy. Galaxy 2 probably won't quite hit the first game's sales.
Aaron Strife said:btw fun fact about NoA's attempt at bringing the series to america: they originally wanted the American version to have redesigned monsters to look "tougher" because they didn't think the cuter pokemon (squirtle, pikachu, jigglypuff etc) would be marketable with the climate of the industry.
Nah DKC looks better even today. I dunno what you guys are smoking seriously. I'd also rate Super Mario RPG higher.Aaron Strife said:Yoshi's Island is beautiful and made Donkey Kong Country look like a turd by comparison
That doesn't speak much for its game play. I was expecting a proper sequel to Mario World and instead we got Yoshi's Island. The egg shooting and collecting gameplay mechanic quickly wore thin. That along with the kindergarten/crèche graphic style made the game very annoying back at the time.Glass Soldier said:YI is probably the most beautiful SNES game :lol
Mael said:yeah about nsmbw, I could make ANY ONE play it because it was what it is, but Galaxy I was lucky if I could even show people how the game is made, seriously the difference is THAT big.
GameplayWhore said:It's much easier with NSMBW, where once the game is started, you move the little mario forward and then hit one of the buttons to start the level. If Galaxy 2 has a similarly user-friendly kiosk, it could help a bit to make that particular 3D Mario incarnation not quite as daunting.
pvpness said:Agreed that there's no debate as to which dimension of Mario the masses enjoy most but I'm willing to bet that Galaxy 2 does better than Galaxy 1 at this point. With the increase in userbase, the recent 10 million Mario boom, and being the sequel to one of the greatest games ever I think it has a fair shot. 3D Mario is for advanced players, hence it will never be as popular as entry level 2D Mario.
GameplayWhore said:When I saw the demos of Galaxy at Gamestop, I was like "wow, that was a mistake". Most of the time, it was in the World 1 hut, and passing-by prospective players would have *no idea* how to get to any of the levels. It's just not obvious to point and click the star thing, since they didn't go through that intro tutorial. People I saw trying it would run around and jump like mad fools in this tiny little room for a minute or two then just slink off elsewhere. It would have been really smart to have a special demo disc that started the game off with a "click one of these giant buttons to choose" level selector instead of just using a regular game disc.

gamergirly said:2D is usually more simpler than 3D. With that said, I dont see how it would take someone a long time to figure out what to do in Super Mario Galaxy. The instruction manual, if nothing else, explained the basics well. It's not even that complicated of a game
gerg said:Edit: I think it's pretty much assured that SMG 2 will sell less than SMG did. It's a traditional game, and traditional sequels always sell worse than their predecessors.
