Maybe. Depends on how badly you need to upgrade and when exactly the 20nm GPU's will come out. Could be anywhere from a few months to Q1 2015.
Wait til tomorrow morning at least.![]()
That Thief graph made me laugh.
You don't understand, they got a massive increase in efficiency and getting 5 FPS extra w/ a 3930K proves it! The height inflated graph proves it even more! RIP Mantle
Maxwell reveal will be cool and all but I really want Nvidia to announce some G-sync monitors, because there is almost nothing so far. Philips showed a nice looking one back in January but that it, aside from Asus VG24 there is no other options even when Nvidia got multiple G-sync parents but there is a complete lack G-sync monitors now it's just sad.
If the Starswarm part of the graph is true, it does at the very least show that AMDs (and old NV) DX11 drivers suck, and that you don't necessarily need to change the API in order to achieve very large gains in CPU limited scenarios. You don't understand, they got a massive increase in efficiency and getting 5 FPS extra w/ a 3930K proves it! I honestly don't think will see a 780 Maxwell equivalent until the end of this year or beginning of next year.

Hah, of course, just ordered a new machine with the 770. If they were to repeat the 600 series release schedule the more affordable cards would be released months after the higher-end ones, we'll see. Should they come out sooner I might just use some temporary card for a while.
What We Hope To See
- Introduction of the new 20nm high-end Maxwell GPU architecture (GM10x/GeForce 8xx) with unified virtual memory.
- Amazing real-time graphics demos.
- More DirectX 12 goodness.
- Demos of the to-be-released CPU-optimized GeForce driver.
- GameWorks demos.
- Exciting announcements.
Probably wont see a lower end card for a while still, so if that's about what your budget is right now, there's likely not much use in waiting. Was going to order 750ti today now I wait...
Hopefully they will come out in june or so and ill just step up
Good. I'm ready for Tri-SLI GTX 880's.
We'll probably see more mid range 28nm Maxwell cards announced, but don't expect 20nm until mid-late 2014.
I definitely expect to see the GTX 790 announced.
That would be nice. I'd prefer PVA thoughGsync 2560x1440 27 inch IPS display please.
The StarSwarm graph(if it holds true) is pretty impressive though, specially since that demo was basically made to advertise Mantle.

Durante will never be pleased! That would be nice. I'd prefer PVA though![]()
One day. That would be nice. I'd prefer PVA though![]()
Now we're talking!Durante will never be pleased!
4K G-Sync PVA or OLED with ULMB that can dynamically adjust and work with variable refresh, OR BUST.
Amirite?
I've seen some speculation Nvidia and AMD are having trouble shrinking the process node down to 20nm and the next high end Maxwell GPU's are going to be more powerful versions of the 750TI, still on 28nm. What do you guys think about this? Is it certain we'll be seeing 20nm?
Only if it runs at 120Hz with strobing though.i feel like a 4k oled occulus rift might be the last non-holographic display id ever need to buy.
And too power hungry! Can't wait to hear more about the K1

The power of a console in your hand and a gigantic leap in mobile processing power!!
Why, that would be almost perfect as far as non-head-mounted displays go!Durante will never be pleased!

Wat.But why would you even need a holographic display when you've got the Oculus Rift?

Wat.

Eh, 3D doesn't really work like that. It's more like a bunch of flat planes at different levels.Who needs IRL holograms when you can have virtual holograms?
What we'll see:
- Charts
- Tegra
- G-SYNC
- Shadow Play
- GPU Servers
- Cars

So the current driver is not cpu optimized?

Don't you try to hinder our progress towards Holodecks/Holosuites.
The new CPU optimised driver is meant to be Mantel like performance for CPU limited games running on DX11 - at least that's how I understand it (feel free to correct me knowledgeGAF).So the current driver is not cpu optimized?
