I posted this in another thread, but it might be more appropriate here, although it's not a full review, just a performance preview with initial tests.

the GTX 1070 beats or exceeds the performance of the Titan X in every game, at every resolution we tested. Yeah, really.

If you were wondering about Nvidia's claims of beating a Titan X in performance with a $380-$450 GTX 1070, well, we can safely put any concerns of cherry picked benchmarks to rest. It's the real deal.

Minimum frame rates are a similar story, with an overall 12-14 percent lead over the Titan X and 980 Ti...

There's only 1 chart for the 15 game average, and all the individual benchmark charts will be in their full review.

With a 12-23 percent delta between it and the GTX 1080, the GTX 1070 certainly isn’t as fast as its big brother, but it also costs roughly 36 percent less. When you compare it to the Titan X, it’s up to nine percent faster and up to 55 percent cheaper. That’s a crazy good deal. Sure, the GTX 1070 makes some concessions against the GTX 1080, but, for the most part, it performs admirably where it counts.

I'm with that. My 970 is still doing well enough at 1080p on new games. I'm really hoping AMD comes out with something with aggressive pricing.

Pretty damn impressive and this coming from an owner of 2xTitan X cards. It really blows my mind that the 1070 in most games and in almost all resolutions is besting the 980ti and Titan X. I know a lot of people were not expecting such good results, but damn it is pretty impressive.

i already sold my 980ti 3 days before the reveal of the 1080 and 1070 for almost 600$ .Right now i am back on my R9 290x . i will wait for the 1070 normal price. this way i will get better performance and save money.

I am still debating if i should get this or the 1080. but as currently i am still rocking 2 1080P screens, I am not in rush to pay the premium 100$ price. if anything i think its a rip off.

In all 4k benchmarks it does beyond 30fps at 4k.

I'd say under $350, but good luck finding anyone selling one for that. Probably going to stay around $400 in the short term if 1070 availability is low, and there will be some demand for used Tis from people picking up a second for SLI.

People who buy enthusiast cards kinda understand how technology works though. It doesn't stand still.

The 980ti and Titan X are still fast cards. Indeed, given how they apparently overclock further than both the new cards, it is impressive that they can still hold their own. Certainly enough so as to allow owners to hold off until the ti variation of the new cards emerge.

Worst case is that you wait and the first HMB2 cards are not worth the price and you have to end up getting the mature 1070 revisions at a good price.
