nVidia is now worth 5 Trillion dollars

Why? Weedy personal satisfaction?

Greedy Jensen can bugger off and I am no fan of his, but we've had enough crashes to last... generations. Instead, let's be grown up about it and nurture growth and GDP, whichever industry it may come from.
Nah. It's not a show of maturity to encourage what is undoubtedly a monopoly in the making. No offense, but I disagree on this one.

Microsoft were and pretty much still are monopoly. Has the US as a whole not reaped the rewards of that? I'm not talking about antitrust or anti consumer practices, but of net benefit to GDP and America's dominant place in an increasingly tech driven world. I'm in the UK btw, but I see the reality.

I understand your opinion and respect it, but I disagree, quite adamantly, with it. Microsoft's anti consumer practices have been well documented, and I'd argue that we'd all be better off with more competition for OS's and cloud platforms, and I am of a similar opinion regarding Nvidia.

In an ideal world, we'd have it that way and it would be hunky dory. But this is where it moves into a whole conversation about free markets and capitalism blah blah blah. Let's not though, I'm sure you agree. Cheers.

Let's fuckin hope so. People celebrating this level of success are nuts, it's a never a good thing when one company is in possession of this level of capital.
They don't. That's not how the stock market works.

Edit: poodaddy poodaddy adds the laugh emoji even though it looks like other people have also pointed this out. Seriously, do you understand what market capitalization is? Nvidia does not have 5 trillion dollars. It's shocking to me the amount of people that think people like Bezos or Musk are walking around with hundreds of billions of dollars in cash, and that of course extends to these corporations. Please go read up on this stuff if you don't understand it.

Ah yes. Completely normal.

At least this is based in a somewhat believable version of some reality and not magiconomically made up like Tesla.

The eventual crash is going to be catastrophic.
It's pretty scary when you think about it. I heard a third of the US economy is based around this AI spending right now with the rest in essentially a recession. If the bubble is real, and pops, it will be 2008 level of impacts. It's terrifying.

Yes, the current bubble is closer to the Nifty Fifty Stock Crash than the actual dotcom bubble, which killed Polaroid and nearly bankrupted Xerox. The US currently has 7 companies which make up of 34% of the stock market and is slowly increasing.

If it doesn't start to deflate it will be catastrophic. There are already multiple financial institutes raising alarm bells. The government is too worried on losing to China to care about the economic fallout once AI starts scaling like Intel 10nm CPUs.

NVIDIA Stock Nears $5 Trillion Valuation After GTC 2025 Announcements

Season 2 Couch GIF by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
That's a lot of leather jackets.

Scary fake valuation. This was "only" a $1 trillion company 2 years ago. This isn't sustainable. The bigger problem is it doesn't stop there. 38% of the S&P 500 is in the top 10 stocks. The ride up has been strong, but all it takes is a few of these companies to falter for there to be a lot of pain.

Giant Corpos suppress smaller business and employment. It's not a good thing long term.

I sold my stocks a couple of weeks ago. Had several hundred shares and would have made a nice bit of money if I'd sold now. But it's definitely a concern that it'll burst soon as it's just went up so much so fast. But there's likely good trade talks coming tomorrow between the US and China too so it'll likely keep rising for a bit.

Comedy Central Lol GIF

Please keep going, me and my Business Administration degree don't understand how cash on hand works lol.

I laughed because of how many people get lost in the details on this stuff brother. Nvidia's 60 billion in cash and their lack of debt makes this monopoly that they're building that much more of a problem. Please, explain to me how everything is fine with Nvidia and that they don't control an obscene amount of capital, for you see market cap doesn't have any bearing whatsoever on how powerful a company is right?

Edit: I changed a line that I found too aggressive, better this way.....
