I'm bummed I didn't get a 3080. Stupid ass launch. Fucking Nvidia dropping this fake ass launch a week before AMDs new cards, it's nothing but a PR move. Why can't AMD be worth a shit and give us a competetion again?

Anyway, hopefully stock actually arrives in the new few weeks. I'll live but my nephew, who is getting my 2080, is acting like a kid who ran down stairs to an empty Christmas tree.
AMD isnt announcing new cards until the end of October, and they won't wind up releasing until November. IDK what you mean "a week before AMD's new cards".

Yeah, this launch fucking blows, and I'm pissed about the events of this morning. However, I have been gaming on PC for about 20 years. I know ATI/AMD's track record (for the last five or so years especially). I'm expecting cards that compete with Nvidias low and mid range. And their cards won't support ray tracing or DLSS. So I'm not getting particularly excited for anything they're launching. Nvidia has enthusiasts by the balls. Fortunately this go around the 3000 series actually is good value as opposed to the 2000 series.

Give AMD a chance with their upcoming release; don’t support Nvidia. Ryzen has been great, so let’s see what they’ve got.

Didn't they already say it wouldn't compete with high end Nvidia cards? And do they have remotely comparable to DLSS?

Their CPUs great, I have a Ryzen, but their GPUs have been pretty lackluster. Who knows, maybe not getting a 3080 will be a blessing in disguise and AMD will pull a rabbit out of their hat, but I'm not holding my breath.

I dunno why but some reason I thought AMDs reveal was next week? Oh well, shows how much I keep up with AMD GPUS, they've been nearly irrelevant on the high end for a while.

If it weren't for moving all my gaming to my new tv I'd just keep my 2080, but it just doesn't hold up at that resolution.

So any word on when restock might be coming?

Microcenter is about an hour and a half drive for me, not sure if I want to go wait in line for nothing.

You're not going to want to hear this, but I would seriously consider waiting until January or February.

I'm feeling nervous about trying to get a 3090 next week

You should be. And just know that Nvidia do not give two shits about it.

Again, for people that can wait, Jan and February should be relatively less stressful times to purchase.

I'll try tomorrow for the supposed Newegg refresh, and then I'll try again in October. If I don't get one then, that's three strikes for me. I'll just wait. This entire launch has been a disaster.

This entire launch has been a disaster.

It's so appallingly bad, it somehow made the PS5 stuff yesterday look coordinated and well-organized. Quite literally, it is the worst "quality product" launch of the post-2000 world...and there have been some real debacles. You can only blame hype so much. In reality, it's a combo of Nvidia's gamesmanship with AMD, along with their own ineptness.

And it's really soured my opinion of Nvidia, so much in fact, that I'm actually considering a switch over to Team Red's GPU, provided they can present a decent option and I don't wind up with the same bullshit I experienced this morning. And those are two very big question marks.

Bring on Intel's GPUs.

Have any reviewers/YouTubers have their hands on a 3090 yet? I'm hoping enough people will be turned off by the price enough the websites will at least be stable despite the lower stock.

Yeah I'm super interested in Big Navi and Zen 3. I hope they embarrass NVIDIA after this nightmare.

What really bugs me are the amount of scumbag resellers on eBay. Fucking eBay enables this bullshit. Only way to stop this is to incorportate a lottery system for pre-orders. But no. Let's just say fuck all and open the pre-orders to everyone and their mother at one dead set time. What did they think was going to happen?

And Nvidia and their board partners love it, because when they see morons buying these cards at the same price as the 2080ti, they know they can just say "fuck you" to the MSRP, while simultaneously establishing pricing for the next gen of GPUs (hint: it's back to Turing prices next time around, IMO).

Nvidia squandered so much good will today that I am actively rooting against them, and I'm an Nvidia fan.

I'm waiting for new zen cpus for my new build, but want to get a 3080 for it, and I could use it now. If I got to wait until later this year, it sucks but what can I do.

None of you get all weak and go to ebay and buy their cards don't enable that bullshit.

In my head, this read like that diner robbery scene from Pulp Fiction.

"Any of you fucking pricks buy one off of ebay and I'll execute every motherfucking last one of ya!!"

Not to mention NVIDIA is scared shitless of Big Navi. Especially after this launch. It's more and likely going to be the same for the 3090. AMD has a great opportunity to gain some much needed momentum.

As mad as everyone is at Nvidia, and I'm right there with ya'll. There's no way in hell that Nvidia is scared of Big Navi. AMD can't compete at the high end and Nvidia knows that. Most of ya'll know that too unless you just plain don't want to admit it.

It sucks, but Nvidia has everyone over a barrel unless you don't mind NOT having the best performance which then where AMD comes in. I really expect AMD and Big Navi to compete with the 3070 at best. Maybe fill the performance gap between the 3070 and 3080. And if AMD can do that an aggressive price then if might make NV take their heads out of their ass and start getting hardware into the hands of those that actually want to use them. But there's no way that AMD beats NV.

I would absolutely LOVE to be wrong though as an Nvidia that doesn't have to compete makes shit like the 20xx series acceptable in their eyes.

I was thinking of getting an rtx 3080 @ 700 US.... over an XboxSer.X ... and now there are others like EVGA asking 800+

If AMD can promise me equal RT performance and an answer to DLSS I will gladly purchase their 3080/3090 equivalent card.

Absolutely. If they can give me something even remotely equivalent I will grab one for sure.

Thanks for getting me even more excited for Big Navi, NVIDIA!

Idk. I think now that scalpers have decimated their stock, I'm sure they're nervous. Especially after looking at the NVIDIA Forum. Yeah, people are angry because its still fresh in their minds, but I think you're underestimating the need for current upgrades. Given that these new consoles are only a mere few months away. People wanted these cards now, and they ruined the hype and any sort of positive reception for themselves. NVIDIA took the fattest L in their entire history, today.

A lot of people, including myself, were counting on a launch day card for their builds. I can see a lot of folks just settling for Big Navi if the price to performance is decent.

The review bombing on Best Buy is epic.

I love it so much.

But this.....puts a smile on my face.

EDIT: People on Reddit are saying this card has been back in stock at random times all day long.

In that Nvidia thread there was one person hoping that the excecs at Nividia get covid and die.... that really excessive for just a damn graphics card...

I was just wondering, why so many of you are in such a hurry to get this gpu? I mean, there's nothing new coming in the next couple of months, and paying 800 dollars instead of 700smth is not such a big deal.... Why so much hype and hysteria? :D

WARNING: last 2 seconds are blown out loud.

Here we go. The trolls are starting to make their way into the thread. "Hurr durr, I don't understand why you so mad. Hurr."

The Sony Pony's just want everyone to feel and look as foolish as them and their "We believe in generations" shit that had everyone laughing at them yesterday.

I am no troll, jeez it takes nothing to be accused of smth nowadays huh. I was just asking, since I did not understand all this. Usually before buying something I see how the situation evolves. Besides, it was clear the cards were going to be out of stock in no time.
This GPU grants me access to 4K 120Hz 10bit color HDR with Gsync on my OLED.
Ok, this makes sense.

I genuinely feel for anyone who was waiting on this card to complement their display or who sold their card in advance and now have empty PCI-e slots on their motherboard. I really, really do.

But it's fucking hilarious that anyone is fuming from not getting a card today as if they've never been through a launch before. Not to mention everyone already knew ahead of time this was going to be scarce at launch. It's even funnier to still hear "AMD has nothing coming" from those who got hit the hardest by Nvidia prematurely announcing their power hungry monster of a card. I see overclock videos hitting over 350 watts and that should be a huge red flag to anyone who knows how hard Nvidia has overhyped efficiency over the last six years.

Patience and discernment are virtues.

Yes, absolutely hilarious.

Also, what does efficiency have to do with anything? Honest question.
