NYC Restaurant Recommendations

When I visited this summer my favorite place was a tiny spot called Il Corallo Trattoria. It was very cheap, and I don't know if it was just the atmosphere of the place coupled with the fresh ingredients of the food but I loved every moment of it.

Ippudo NY sucked ass though, definitely overpriced and not worth standing out in the cold for our turn

It might be a location thing. I've had it at Williamsburg a few times and it's good, but it was pretty underwhelming at the LES location. Georgia Eastside BBQ has some decent fried chicken from what I remember.

I've only eaten at the Wberg place twice. Both times it was awful. I can only imagine how bad the LES one is.

I am going in a few weeks and Torst and Momofuku noodle bar are on my list of places. Any reason for them not to be?

OP check out Casa Enrique ($$$) or Tortilleria Nixtamal ($) if you're willing to venture into the best borough and want the best Mexican food in the states outside of Cali.

Torst is awesome! Momofuku's spin offs are good, but for the real thing try and get seats at Ko ($$$$). It's Chang unfiltered and unrestricted. Noodle Bar, Milk are great but don't expect to make a night of it. Ssäm is my favorite of the non-flagships.

I have probably been to 200+ restaurants in Manhattan and I haven't heard of 50% of these places. I love NYC so much.

You'll generally want to make reservations for any Michelin 3* or popular tables in NYC at least 30 days in advance. Some have even more specific reservation requirements, so check it out in advance.

- NoMad Restaurant
- Osteria Morini
- Casellula
- Neta
- Sushi Nakazawa
- Joe's Shanghai (cash only)
- Shake Shack at Madison Park
- Dominique Ansel Bakery (original cronuts)

Ramen in NYC tends to be pretty meh and should be avoided unless you don't have access to ramen otherwise in your city.

Same here man! We are lucky to be in such a great city.

We also finally managed to have a food thread in OT that doesn't have the famous 2 GAF pictures that always get posted...

Have to sadly agree.

Ippudo is truly fantastic (especially the pork buns) but the wait can last literal hours. Hide-chan was the "good enough with 1/10th the wait time" replacement for years, but their quality took a nosedive in the past six months.

Better off taking the plunge into an izakaya and trying out more otherwise harder to find japanese cuisine.

Unless you're willing to spend 100+ per person I would avoid Manhattan for any food other than Japanese. The outer boroughs just does it better.

Best Chinese food is in flushing queens.
Best Korean in flushing queens and forest hill queen.
Best Indian in Jackson heights queens.
Best Italian or pizza in Brooklyn or new haven ct if you're willing to make journey.
Caribbean in Bronx.
Argentinian in corona, queens.
Best beer choices in Brooklyn.
Americana bistro in Brooklyn.
