Dude, we would have easily swept your sorry asses if it weren't for Oliver Perez. I can't believe I just typed that, but it's true!
Right, just like we could've won 2/3 if Mets pen did their job
and paid the umps off like Atlanta did
. Also for the mothereffin' time IT'S APRIL and you're .5 game ahead.

I like it when the Mets were like 6 games up by now last year if a Met fan said anything to that extent you are talking they'd be shut down. The only thing bothersome about the loss is that the league's best pen entering the game blew it and the usual annoying crappy calls.

Wily Mo isn't doing a whole lot to help move himself ahead of Coco on the depth chart.

Pedroia! GRIT.

WTF Jon. Pedroia is NOT a threat to steal. He runs about as fast as Doug Mirabelli after eating a big dinner of chicken parm.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

****, spilled water all over my keyboard. Unexpected awesomeness.

Uhhh, why did they let Daisuke come out for the 8th? USE THE PEN.
According to SI's article about Japanese pitchers, Japan pitcher very very superior to weak-armed American pitcher in every way! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

well he did throw 250 pitches in high school

Proctor pitched three straight days. It's a great idea!

man, this team is SO SHITTILY constructed. NO bench. Posada never takes a full day off.

ah shit, melky.

Did you not hear what SI had just said? Japan pitcher very very superior to weak-armed American pitcher in every way! HAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I still can't get over who your first baseman is. Even even there weren't any high profile free agents, Cashman couldn't build a baseball playing robot or something?

I've lost a ton of faith in Cashman this off season. He "built for the future" by trading Sheff for a bunch of arms based around injury prone Humberto Sanchez-- who, by the way, just had surgery, while failing to fix 1b, get a backup catcher, or build a bench.

And he got outbid on Matsuzaka, which still ****ing pisses me off.
edit: OH MY GOD HE PINCH RAN FOR POSADA

Would you say that Cashman has a... LONG TERM PLAN?

Please don't blow this for Daisuke, Donelly.

His ERA ballooned but his win total would go up! JOHN KRUK FEELS SUCH INTERNAL CONLIFCT

edit: Eckstein Duo :(

Daisuke is a winner. He gave up a lot of runs this time because he knew his team could handle it. That's what winners do.

I just put SD on ignore after reading through his posts today. Seriously, I've had it with his bullshit drama-queen know-nothing baseball commentaries. And I can manage to tolerate his political threads. And have never placed a Mets fan on ignore.

Yeah, I have overreacted from time to time.

But seriously, even though I may not know the game from a purely stathead perspective, I probably know more about the game than everyone on this board combined.

Your loss.......

Even though they scored some runs off him, I thought Dice-K did a good job of sending a message to the Yanks by throwing in on ARod and Jeter. Maybe he didn't intentionally hit them, but I think it was more of a "I'm gonna get it in there as tight as I can and if I hit them then so be it". Its definately gonna be interesting to watch how those two plunkings play out as these teams play each other later in the season.

And its amazing how less scary that Yankee line up looks without Sheffield. Its still tough as ****, but Sheffield was a huge presence.

Daisuke should be an NL pitcher. When they need to pinch hit for him, he could just throw a Pokeball and ARod would appear.

:lol

I agree. Daisuke did what every pitcher has seemingly been terrified to do against Alice during his hot streak-- throw inside and make him a bit less comfortable. Thanks Julian!

What do the Yankees have in the way of close to ML ready talent that they'd offer for a 35-40 HR a year 1B named Richie Sexson?

Complaining about the umpiring aside, its completely unreasonable to believe the bullpen would have/will continue to keep on the same pace. Y'all had like 4 guys without an era for crying out loud.

By the same token, Wright and Delgado will start to hit with more power and the rest of the offense will cool down. And the Braves offense will heat up - especially Andruw.

The ebb and flow of a season.......

Although, I do have to say that the Wright power outage has to be disconcerting........6 HRs in his last 305 ABs since the HR derby.

i'm definitely pissed the yanks didn't win ANY games this weekend but i'm also not freaking out. if it's end of may and they're still playing .500 ball even with wang, mussina, and pavano back then i'm freaking out. another blown save by MO and i might start freaking out too.

the bullpen early on showed they can be REALLY good but once pitchers started dropping faster than brad lidges sperm count they've really been stretched thin.

the offense has been brilliant so far this season IMO (except the 8 and 9 spots only shining spot for me so far down there is the ability for mint-k to lay down a bunt when you need him to maybe he's not that good but the few i've seen him this season have been excellent).

when they had that string (at this point, yes 3 is a string) of really nice starts by pettitte, pavano and igawa you could see how scary good this team can be.

adding matsui and wang in the next couple of days is going to be huge especially (x1000) wang.

The Yankees'll be just fine.

Moose, Wang and Pavano will come back, and we'll save the bullpen.
Henn is really good out of the pen, so he'll save Bruney, Proctor and Farnsworth from being overused.
Mariano Rivera is goddamned Mariano Rivera. You're not really worried about him, are you? Seriously?:lol

Matsui will come back strong.

What we really, really need though, is some ****ing bench depth. Dougie Alphabet should strictly be used off the bench. We need a real starting 1B, and really, really soon. Same for backup catcher; granted, they can't all hit like Posada, but shit - Wil Nieves? That's all we have? My GOD, man.

So...DESTROY WIL NIEVES
DESTROY MIGUEL CAIRO
TRADE FOR A LEGIT 1B
KT FOR 5TH OF
DOUGIE FOR BALL BOY
CALL UP CLIPPARD
CALL UP LORD HUGHES

We'll be fine.
