The Yankees'll be just fine.

Moose, Wang and Pavano will come back, and we'll save the bullpen.
Henn is really good out of the pen, so he'll save Bruney, Proctor and Farnsworth from being overused.
Mariano Rivera is goddamned Mariano Rivera. You're not really worried about him, are you? Seriously?:lol

Matsui will come back strong.

What we really, really need though, is some ****ing bench depth. Dougie Alphabet should strictly be used off the bench. We need a real starting 1B, and really, really soon. Same for backup catcher; granted, they can't all hit like Posada, but shit - Wil Nieves? That's all we have? My GOD, man.

So...DESTROY WIL NIEVES
DESTROY MIGUEL CAIRO
TRADE FOR A LEGIT 1B
KT FOR 5TH OF
DOUGIE FOR BALL BOY
CALL UP CLIPPARD
CALL UP LORD HUGHES

We'll be fine.

i know it's early, but try not live in denial and assume that mussina and pavano coming is a good thing. maybe those guys won't have good years. maybe the kids in the bullpen will suck. remember, torre still manages the bullpen and he doesn't have a freaking clue how to run one.

Mets should of really won that game, there was really no excuse to be losing to inferior team second straight series. Bullpen really blew chunks espically Heilman. Seriously what the hell is wrong with Wright he can't hit a ball over 350 feet anymore and he's swinging at pitches two feet off the plate. Hmm maybe he should be benched for couple of games to get his head staight.

Inferior team, huh? Remind me why you wear that avatar?

I can't stop watching this. Amazing.
I could've gone to this game.. if I hadn't gone out to Amherst to record with my friends' band. One of their dads had extra tickets. We got back too late. :[

David O'Brien of AJC was recently on ESPN to talk about how great the Red Sox-Yankees are and nothing else matters....

Just did an interview on Baseball Tonight where they wanted to know how the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry plays in Atlanta, the idea being this Braves-Mets series is big but getting overshadowed by Yanks-Red Sox.

What I wanted to tell them was, yeah, it’s overshadowed because you guys at ESPN pump up the Yanks-Red Sox rivalry beyond all reasonable proportion and ram it down everyone’s throats until they submit and buy into the notion that it’s the biggest rivaly in the history of the planet.

But I settled for telling Karl that I thought Yanks-Red Sox was overdone and that in Atlanta, Carolina-Duke is bigger (I would’ve said Georgia-Georgia Tech and Auburn-Alabama were bigger, but didn’t want them thinking I’m some myopic regional rube who can’t put things in perspective on a national basis _ but of course, we know those two rivalries are indeed bigger, don’t we?)

at least thats what they thought he would say. :lol

I kind of got over it already because I've been addicted to Pokemon, and that makes me think of the astros instead of the Yankees.

But geeze, what a sucky series. I mean, yeah, the Red Sox beat Chase Wright and Jeff Karstens (and mo, ugh), but we could have done something.

At least you haven't lost 5 in a row and in the process have Baltimore sweep you. If I hadn't had so many exams this week I would have probably had a nervous breakdown watching those games.

if the yanks are still playing like the blue jays this time next month then we're ****ed :D

Give us until June.
Remember 2005.
Remember 8 games below .500.
Remember being 9 games behind the Orioles and Red Sox.
Remember Tino.

The Yankees are never down.

Oh you Yankee fans sure do love to use the past as a security blanket.

Oh for ****s sake.... The Red Sox/Yankees series is over and ESPN is making up some bullshit story about Diasuke throwing at A-Rod on purpose. Horseshit. Oh well, I shouldn't be suprised and I'm not going to bitch about it anymore. [/rant]

I don't think this is gonna be pretty.

Oh also, for those bummed about the series this past weekend, I wouldn't worry. Here are some fun stats:

Schilling gave up five runs in 7 innings.
Beckett gave up five runs (four earned) in 6.2 innings.
Dice K gave up six runs in 7 innings.
Andy Pettitte gave up two runs in 6.1 innings.

If Karstens and Wright are pitching in September, then yeah we panic. But I'd be a little worried if my top three starters put up a 7.13 ERA.

B-G-O! :D

edit- Jimmy "roid" Rollins counters with a hr :(

Yeah, but nobody else in the majors has a lineup like the Yankees do.

Not worried.

:lol What?

You realize we play 15 more times right?

GIAMBEAST CHUGGING OUT A DOUBLE!

Correct. But the Yankees aren't the only other team in the league, despite what ESPN would have you believe. The bottom line is that the Red Sox need to score a lot of runs to beat the Yankees, and so far, they've done just that.

Arod isnt human this month.

Dude. It's Casey Fossum. I could take Casey Fossum yard.

Sorry, I woke up this morning and saw you agreeing with Siamese saying that Dice-k's 7 IP 6 ER performance was a good thing and that he knows more about baseball than most of us combined and now I gotsa axe to grind!

on second thought maybe i'll just not.

Whoa whoa whoa. 6 runs in 7 innings is NOT good. Making the first pitch to Slappy high and tight was good.

He was talking about long-reaching consequences of an at bat while completely ignoring the long-reaching consequences of being rocked by a team.

Also, Francouer is a beast. Keith Olbermann, of all people, picked him as a darkhorse MVP candidate. He's already got 19 rbi!

Rollins is a astros killer :(

Pornstache Valentin goes deep off Bucholz! Finally Mets have an early lead!

Houston fans, who did you get for Taylor Bucholz? I thought he was a good prospect for you guys.

We got Jennings and Taylor was bleh.

Hirsh was the stud.

Fat Elvis Hr :o Please start doing that more often :D

Looks like no pitching in Philly tonight for either team.

I've been impressed by his progress. More walks, more pitches per PA, and he's hitting more to the opposite field. PECOTA had him at one of the highest breakout rates this year. Definitely moving beautifully beyond the sophomore slump.

Also, I see Bobby decided to reward Kelly's hot streak by giving him the night off and putting Woodward in. That's good thinking!

A-Rod's is just killing guys on 2-strike pitches. It's like a completely different guy from last year. He doesn't give a crap at the plate :lol

Erik Bedard gives up 5 runs pitching at home against Oakland :(

the fantasy gods hate me this year. I don't know what I did to upset them so much.
