I've seen a lot of dumb shit in baseball, but walking a guy 0 for his last 24 and hitting .056 on the season to load the bases takes the cake. It didn't matter in the end, but talk about completely throwing the game away......

Anyway, great hitting game........Redman's gotta go.......the Mets can't keep pitching like this
can they?
........the Marlins have got some serious bullpen arms

Apparently Zaun broke his hand. Looks like Fasano gets to come back to the big leagues. This could hurt but there is no way Fasano and Phillips can be any worse than Zaun has been playing and at least Sals Pals will be happy.

IS THAT YOU VIC THE BRICK???

Feelin' you!

Not feeling the Dodgers though. Ah, who am I kidding... they'll still win the series. The Giants are such a garbage team. Derek Lowe just needs to pull his head out.

Royals are so terrible :lol
Just cost themselves the game with a throwing error.

...And Angel Hernandez just got hit pretty hard with a line drive :lol

edit: Passed ball scores another hahahahahaha classic

edit 2: White Sox winner, and a 4-1 road trip :)

Dear jebus. What the heck kind of game did I miss? 7-0 --> 8-7 --> 8-8 --> 9-8? Wtf.
And from what I hear at HH, gameday was fritzin out. I guess I'm glad I had class during this ordeal!

Thankfully I was listening to it on KSPN or I would've been pulling my hair out. :lol

Pretty much expect this race to be this tight all year....

Wang gave the Yanks *exactly* what they needed, and the pen still spit the bit. Torre is bullpen Dusty. :-\

ATTN: Torre
Viz can't be used unless we're up like, 5 runs. He is like having Felix Heredia or Felix Rodriguez all over again.
You cannot bring in a flyball reliever to IBB someone and try for a groundball.
You cannot do that ESPECIALLY in place of one of the best groundball pitchers in the game.
Use Chris Britton.
Use more Farnsworth.
DO NOT PULL STARTING PITCHERS BEFORE 90/100 PITCHES UNLESS THEY CLEARLY HAVE NOTHING, YOU GODDAMNED FOOL.
Stop taking bats out of the lineup for non-bats. Melky and Alphabet came back in in place of Damon and Phelps, and we got owned again when it counted - in the 9th, when we needed some good at-bats. WTF, man.

Well, Torre has Bruney and Myers up (who pitched yesterday) and not Farnsworth. NEATO

seems to be a schism on the Farnsworth issue.

If Toril gets fined for this ... Lordy.

Hunter's champagne gift violated baseball rule

Maybe a thank-you note would have sufficed.

Torii Hunter's gift of expensive champagne to the Kansas City Royals has the Minnesota Twins outfielder in some bubble trouble.

Hunter's gift of four bottles of Dom Perignon, which he had delivered to the Royals clubhouse this past weekend, was meant as a reward for the Royals sweeping the Detroit Tigers last September, allowing the Twins to come from behind to win the American League Central. The gift fulfilled a promise Hunter made last fall.

But baseball has rules about this sort of thing.

Namely, rule 21-b, which proclaims "Any player or person connected with a Club who shall offer or give any gift or reward to a player or person connected with another Club for services rendered ... in defeating or attempting to defeat a competing Club ... shall be declared ineligible for not less than three years."

And after "The Cheater's Guide to Baseball Blog" reported the violation, the Twins got a phone call from the commissioner's office about the proffered bubbly. And the Twins found themselves in an awkward position -- having to call the Royals to ask that the champagne be returned.

Umm...no. It reads as if we both agree that Farnsworth should've been/should be used more. Kev is wondering why other relievers and not Farnsworth are warming up, and I am explicitly stating that Farnsworth should be used more in lieu of other relievers.

Also, lol at the Torii Hunter thing. He probably shouldn't have done that, but if Selig decides to enforce that rule for this incident...:lol

Yeah, we're in agreement.

On a more serious note, I'm thinking that Lord Hughes' debut will be pretty messy. His confidence will be a little off, his pitch count will probably be pretty high, Toronto can hit, and he's struggled to adjust to each league he's moved to in his first start.

My bad. Usually any mention of using Farnsworth to me is strange. Is it me or has Cashman's legacy of signing pitchers stunk? Johnson and Pavano were no-brainers but Felix Rodriguez, Karsay, Farsworth, Vizcaino, Igawa (I'm sorry 50 mil for a 5th starter/reliever?) . . . and I'm leaving out a lot of people too.

well, the Cashman era as far as signings is a little shakey....Pavano (though remember he was opposed by Matt CLOLment), Johnson was a trade at least partially orchestrated by Tampa. Bringing Andy back was a fantastic move, he signed Moose two a two year extension. It's tough to judge considering his age (37), but he did pitch 200 innings last year. Though, he's a big sandy vagina. He's not traded away the young arms and is currently stockpiling them. Yankees should have amazing pitching within five years.

He just failed to focus on major league ready talent this year. Period.

He signed Damon, got Arod (attribute to him/Tampa), pushed forward Cano and Wang...but also pushed forward Melky, failed to sign a serious 1b for like two years now, but allowed Craig Wilson to walk for Mint-K, failed on Matsuzaka, failed on Igawa (lawl), didn't consider anyone like Okajima for the bullpen, etc. He didn't sign a backup catcher, and failed for like the 9th consecutive year to build a bench.

Now, Theo isn't exactly perfect either, but I think he solidly outmaneuvered Cashman this offseason and it freaking shows.

Consider for a moment that the Yankees' potential bid of 30 million leaked to the media for weeks before it was actually made. The Red Sox only needed to top it slightly, the fact they blew off the doors is both not surprising and not unanticipated. This is the team that was burned by Contreras. Did Cashman forget they booked EVERY HOTEL ROOM in the hotel Contreras was staying in?

Theo's a tard, but at least he's spending where it counts. 32 mil for Matsuzaka but 26 mil for Igawa? Seriously?

Eh...Cashman's made mistakes with pitcher signings/trades/acquisitions, but most of them have been the fault of Tampa/Steinbrenner. He fscked up on Pavano, certainly. And while it's early, he's seemingly fscked up on Igawa. But other dudes...

RJ = Tampa
J. Wright = Tampa
K. Brown = Tampa
F-Rod = Tampa

...and so on.
Guys that were throw-ins, like Viz...that's not bad at all. We got Viz and two really good prospects in exchange for a shitty RJ and his money off our books. That's a good move, no matter what.

Cashman has failed to make good bench depth, though. Even though the farm's pretty good, the major league squad is suffering.

Not ready. Wait Link you're giving up on Pel already? He's had 2 starts, give him a shot. Unless you want Chan Ho Park or Jason Vargas here. I'm calling a bounceback start for him tonight. 7 IP, 2-3 runs, 7-8 K's, book it.

Jorge Sosa isn't doing too bad in New Orleans right now, he's the best bet for the time being.
Jorge Sosa should be giving up homers in Japan right now. God, I hate his signing on the Mets.

*looks at score*

To answer your question: Yes. Yes I am.

EDIT - Holy shit, can he even get anyone out? Pull him now, dammit.

Same, and this game is a lost cause.

You know it's over when the opposing pitcher is 2 for 2 already.

I've been working in Miami for the last few weeks and I'm actually going to the Marlins/Braves game tonight with a group from work. There will be 12 of us Braves fans there, which is probably more fans than the Marlins will have in the entire stadium.

I can't wait to see another dominating performance from your 2007 Cy Young winner, Tim Hudson.
