well, we want to lose

c'mon bluemax, stop being so harsh on the M's ;)

I said they had a chance this year; Vidro has been the best offseason aquisition in years (well, thats not saying much when comparing him to weaver, beltre and sexson, among others), Felix, HoRam, Washburn, Batista and Baek are a pretty good rotation, and if everyone in the lineup gets it going, they can be a serious contender for the west

Well, that one sequence from McGowan (wild pitch, failed to catch easy throw to tag out the runner at the plate, ran and grabbed the ball and awkwardly did splits instead of easily throwing out running advancing to third) has me switching the Jays game off. :P

That's our Dougie- getting back to 2001/2 form.

*cough*

In other news, I laugh at you, for you have Doug Mientkiewicz on your team.

Or... do you mean Mirabelli...? Hope not.

Hey guys Royals fan here. I'm usually stuck in the NFL threads talking about the Chiefs, but I just wanted to point out that while our record looks bad, you would not BELIEVE how optimistic the feel around town is here with our (forever) young ball club.

Some points that have me excited
1. Gil Meche - First of all, he's had several excellent outings, but most importantly, he's the type of guy we can start building a team around. We had to over-pay to get him in this town, but so far he is definitely delivering. After 7 starts, he's currently in the top 5 for ERA, Wins, and Innings pitched in the AL. Might not seem like a big deal to you, but this is the freaking ROYALS we're talking about here.

2. Young phenoms - They're young and a little raw, but the Royals really do have some nice young talent in the batter's box. We haven't had this much hope since we had Dye, Beltran and Damon! While I won't say that any one of our new guys will eventually become any one of those greats, we do have some awesome potential: DeJesus, Butler, and Gordon could be something special.

3. Small ball - We're losing still, but now we're losing 2-1 and 3-2 games, rather than 10-7 or 8-5 games. It all comes down to starting pitching and getting on base at this point. We have two good starters in place with Meche and De La Rosa (and Greinke), but our bullpen is horrendous outside of our one bright spot, Soria. Right now, we just need to start getting on base, stop getting down early in the count, and getting some clutch 2-out hits. If we can raise our BA across the board by 20 points, we're a better than 500 team. Seriously.

4. Hope - Again, it's the Royals and I know it. We've been historically bad by anybody's comparison. But what we have now is hope where there hasn't been in years. We got Dayton Moore as a GM, and we all believe in him. We have some nice pieces falling into place, and others on their way up. But most of all, we finally have a commitment from our owner to winning. That started with a huge contract to Meche. We have to keep that up next year and get a couple above average bullpen guys. I know we can do it. I think the Royals can make the playoffs in 2 years. Seriously.

5. Now all we need to do is start winning. ;)

It's a shame you guys are in the AL Central. The division is so friggin hard.

That being said, this is the best I have felt about the Indians since 1999. Our bullpen is still very suspect ... but we have won before with less.

wow, Griffey first stolen base since april 2004 "and the pitc...GRIFFEY'S RUNNING!" They threw the ball into center and he got to third. :lol

Cleveland was a lot of expert's dark horse for the 'Series this year.

On the note of divisions, the AL Central is amazingly like the AFC West. Each team (outside of the one team in it's 3-4 year bad run) has a legitimate shot at the division title every single year. I think there's something to it.

Holy shit, I was kind of in and out with tonight's game .. but how did I miss this?

Barfield tried to score from first base with two outs in the fourth when center fielder Alex Rios dropped Sizemore's sinking line drive for an error. David Dellucci, the Indians' on-deck hitter, and players ran onto the field after that. A fan seated behind home plate also ran on the field and he raced toward center field. He took his shirt off, attempted a back flip, went prone on the field and put his hands behind his back before being arrested.

:lol

OH HELL YEAH

I've been waddling around second place in fantasy for a bit too long now. Once the mighty Lincecum pitches the first 27K perfect game in major league history though, that's all going to change.

You guys are seriously killing me with these puns.
You know how I have to slap SD around when he slights the good name of Braves fans? You should perform this function for Mets fans, and they might be less hated than Yankess and Sawx fans in five or ten years.

YOU'RE ALWAYS IN THE MOTHERTRUCKING FIGHT WITH DAVID MOTHERF***ING WRIGHT!!!!!! :lol :lol

INTIATE 2004-2005 ROUT MODE. Lock-on Arizona D-Backs.

Lock-on commenced.

Rout happening. right now.

Buried in there are at least two counts each of Easley heroisms or Wickman imposions.

This division race is already crazy. Wouldn't want it any other way :D

I can't figure out why Mets fans are so hated. No clue, really.
We're all jealous of how hot David Wright is. And, apparently, of Oliver Perez. I'm pretty sure that's it.

And how happy Mets got rid of Chris Woodward to sign Easley. I wonder where Chris is now...
On the first place Atlanta Braves, of course. Technically we're still in first because of our head to head record with you jokers.

On a related note, I think that 9th inning meltdown and subsequent loss to the Marlins last week not only cost Hudson a win, but Pitcher of the Month honors. Wanna guess who ended up winning?

For a second I was horrified that it might be Oliver Perez, but then I find out it's Johnny Unsustainably Low BABIP and HR/FB and Unsustainably High LOB%.

That's his actual nickname. look it up.
