This offense better be back when we play the Rays this weekend. Why the hell can we NEVER sweep anyone. We're something like 3-13 now going for the sweep going back into last year.

LOL... Vinny... was that a quip at the Dodgers noodle-armed outfield or what?

I believe so. :D

Edit: Sick pitch by Penny to get Fielder out.

It's time to bat Abreu 8th. The guy is a walking DP...

For real man. I watched the game today and Abreu just doesn't look confident. And when he dropped that ball...I know Paul Oneill defended him but come on.

Good game for the Yankees. Looks like their getting their energy back. If Giambi could jump on the train and send some HR's flying I think that'd really get things going. Pettite looked great today. Farnsworth looked like he was throwing 95 mph volleyballs.

And now a closer look at Oliver Perez's "crappy" numbers:

Code:
[B]Pitchers IP	H R	ER	BB	SO	HR	PC-ST ERA[/B]
O Perez (W, [I]6-3[/I])	7.0	4	0	0	2	5	0	122-81	[U]2.54[/U]

Perez's number's outside of the Philly start (2 2/3 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 SO, 7 BB. 73 pitches, only 32 strikes)
Code:
[B]Record[/B] [I]6-2[/I]
[B]ERA[/B] [I]2.08[/I]
[B]WHIP[/B] [I]0.93[/I]
[B]IP[/B] [I]56[/I]
[B]BB/SO[/B] [I]11/51[/I]

Most Improved Player locked up.

Thank goodness for the Fan interference. :D

edit: WTF KENTTTTTTTTTT!! are you that stupid? Jeez first Furcal and now this shit.

edit: Martin Solo HR!!!!!! Ah crap No HR?

Damn, Russ is tearing it up! WTF, what just happened? Called foul and then he walked or something?

Damn! Thrown out too now.. sheesh, he hadnt been caught stealing once so far this year. :(

Well there was one empire signaled a HR but another singled Foul and as you know they called a foul. Then the pitcher walked him.

Edit: Good to see Brazoban back. :) Nice catch by Furcal WOW!

Geof Jenkin WOW, nice catch.

Some quick Royals notes:

Getting Hot
Royals have won 3 in a row and 8 out of their last 10 games.

They have won 3 series in a row:
3/4 @ OAK
2/3 @ COL
2/2 CLE (with one to play)

The first two were on the road, and this latest one against a very hot team. We continue the homestand against SEA and BAL--definitely two more winnable series.

Hitting
Alex Gordon: Has a hit in 8 of his last 9 games. His last 3 games have been multi-hit games. (.195)
John Buck: our catcher is finally coming into his own. 2 home runs in 2 days. (.310)
Mike Sweeny: Father Time himself can't stop this perpetually injured money pit. Still, two HRs in two days is fine with me. (.257)
Mark Teahen and Grudz are getting serious about some clutch hitting. Sweet!

Pitching
Holy crap dude. Our rotation is actually satisfactory. We have 2 solid starters with Meche and Perez, and a developing bullpen.

Royals relievers have the team's last 4 victories and 6 of the last 7.

The Royals. Seriously. (reaching 500 soon!)

TROUBLES AT THIRD BASE FOR DODGERS

OK, so you're a major league team scuffling to score runs, and Wilson Betemit isn't hitting, so you bench him and promote top prospect Andy LaRoche. This is not a bad idea at all. In fact, Betemit has now started to hit, mainly in a pinch-hitting role. The problem is, the Dodgers didn't do that. They brought up LaRoche, used him inconsistently for 30 at-bats and then went to Plan B, which is apparently Tony Abreu, who did put up some interesting numbers in the minors, but he's not a power hitter. LaRoche is. He takes walks, he fields well, he certainly deserves a chance. However, Abreu started at third base Tuesday. I don't get it.

What do the Dodgers intend to do here? Are there any other third basemen in the farm system? Maybe they'll promote James Loney to play first base and move Nomar Garciaparra across the diamond. Fantasy owners are pretty confused here.

What do I think will happen? I bet LaRoche gets sent back to the minors in the next few days. He might be back in a month, but the Abreu promotion was directed at him. It's possible LaRoche isn't ready for the majors, but I also doubt Abreu is. Betemit had his chance. I wouldn't do this, because fielding and health would matter to me if I was a manager, but I actually think we'll see Nomar switch positions at some point. Never mind that he's got as many home runs this season as Jason Schmidt.

Yeah Nomar is definitely not a power hitter anymore, that why I want Grady to drop him to 5th spot and have Martin bat 4th or 3rd spot. As for Nomar moving to 3rd base that would be pretty tough transition during the season if it was during spring then it might be good to do. I know that Loney been grumbling about wanting to be trade so I think the Dodgers want to make him happy by giving him the 1st base position.

No man, James Loney and Chad Billingsley for Carlos Delgado and we pay 1/3rd of Delgado's salary for 3 years. Straight up. RIGHT NOW.

:lol, Yeah ok now. Why don't the Dodgers throw in Broxton while their at it.

I didn't understand the Abreu move either, Abreu is supposed a great 2nd baseman. Little should just either stick it out with Betemit or LaRoche, Bringing in a 3rd guy was just absurd. Nomar is defenitely not going to be moved to 3rd, He doesn't have the arm to play 3rd anymore. BrazobaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaN!

AH! We got a rise out of Bill Hall! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! SHHHHHHHH!

BIG EDIT: How could I forget the biggest Dodger highlight of the day, Bombko sent to the bullpen!!!

schilling :lol

andy should be getting more press for his amazing start to the season. he's having a 1997-esque type season so far.

Your bullpen is excellent. I'm not really sold on your starting pitching (especially if someone like Meche gets injured).

The Indians picked the wrong time to come into your park.

I wouldn't mind seeing Nomar get moved back to SS and have Furcal try his hand at 3rd.. if he'd be willing of course. I'm not sure that Loney is necessarily a better prospect than LaRoche though -- they're probably equal. Hard to say how this will all pan out.

The one think i like so far about Ollie that he doesn't have to throw 97 mph fastballs to get hitters out anymore. He's relying on his secondary pitches almost reminds me of Pedro in 05. But one thing that concerns me is how he lost 3-4 mph off his fastball he's only 25 it isn't age?

1B/Loney 2B/Abreu 3B/LaRoche

Dodgers have all the prospects to take over sooner or later. Everyone seemed to think that Loney should have been given the 1B position this year and signing Nomar for 2 years effectively blocks him. I can understand why he would suggest a trade, Cause it sucks for him. Dodgers need to quit trying to move players off their natural positions, It seems to make things worse. What the hell happened to Kemp, Maybe they're trying him at 3rd down in the minors. :lol

Angels getting crushed. Wow...

Boy, if anyone thought the Tigers were a fluke last year, they're proving them dead wrong so far this year. Maggs is just having an absolutely lights out year. O_O I see that Chone Figgins has that average up to .133 now -- grats to those who drafted him! :lol

Yeah, the Sheff signing was a great move.

Edit: NVM his stat doesn't look that good.

Jim Rome had Scioscia on yesterday and they were talking about how Reggie Willits lived in the batting cage of his new home while the house was being finished. Rome then said maybe Figgins needs to move into a batting cage. I almost swerved off the road :lol

It was a good signing IMO. He's had a slow start but it's another power threat in that lineup that you have to worry about. I think the Yankees made a mistake moving him for Abreu and getting pretty much nothing back. Any Yankees fan would tell you they'd rather have Sheff in the lineup right now..

didn't realize that Jeter had so many hits. As much as I hate to say it as a Redsox fan, this guy is a sure thing for the Hall Of Fame. The Yankees have 4 hall of famers on their team, thats pretty impressive. maybe they'll reach .500 :)

I am with good sources that I should be angry that you have even included my cherished team within your cursed box that is known as "a post". Why. :(

Aiye. What a freakin' game to wake up to though...
Santana needs to stay at home.

Yeah I guess he has been slumping late with only 2 RBI in his last 10 games, but still a dangerous hitter.

Yah, he can't picth on the road for some reason. Here are his stats...

Home: 3-1 2.33 ERA

Away: 0-5 7.86 ERA and rising (8 ERs today. Yikes!)
Oh. I know for sure those ugly stats. We need to go to the road games... cover everything in red, and then block out the sun so it looks like its at night too.
