Good grief.

Cubs are going to lose ANOTHER extra inning one run game.

I think this will make the Cubs 2-14 in one run games.

I thought the law of averages said this shit should even out?

Another one run loss coming wooooooooo.
Incidently, who can tell me what's the Mets record so far this year in 1-run games/extra innings games?

I think Willie tore into this Mets team after the Braves series and the first game of the Marlins series. And it looks like it did some good. I actually saw some 2-out RBIs in the other games.

So much for worrying about the Braves. If that series win couldn't compel them to start playing consistent competent baseball, nothing will.

And The Show '07 is awesome on PS3. I like 2K7 just fine but The Show is in another league entirely. 60 FPS and Road to the Show pretty much ensure I won't be playing much else this summer.

Ok, make that eight sweeps. The Rockies swept the Giants and the Indians swept the Tigers.

What's the record for most sweeps completed in one day, anyway?

Probably not too many. I wouldn't be surprised if eight is the new record.

Well, we got a similar swing in the NL East, so..... party time?
hmmm . . . okay!

This is absolutely beautiful. There's no way else to say it - the Yankees are absolute, complete, total, utter, SHIT. They aren't only going to miss the playoffs, they're not going to make .500. And when the season ends and Steinbrenner has fired everyone, maybe then he'll look at John Henry and say the words we've all longed him to here.

"You're my daddy".

john henry :lol

Yeah, see, the Yankees ran out of Karma and mystique in 2001. And in 2004, they lost their wonderful claim of being "The greatest team in the history of sports".

Face it. It's not only over, it's OVER. Not just for this season, but for the Yankees being any form of threat in the MLB for the next 50-odd years.

Welcome to Red Sox Nation. Have a Fenway Frank on me.

While obviously it is too early to say the Yankees are done (even though it looks more and more likely every day), this whole season has been absolutely ****ing delicious so far.

Soooooo good.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Yankee fans should be quarantined from the rest of America.

Yeah, god forbid Yankee fans refuse to concede the season before June.

edit:
CHICAGO -- Following today's game vs. Tampa Bay, the Chicago White Sox optioned left-handed reliever Andrew Sisco to Triple-A Charlotte.
Sisco, 24, has gone 0-1 with an 8.36 ERA (13 ER/14.0 IP) and 13 strikeouts in 19 games with the White Sox this season. The 6-10, 270-pounder has issued 11 walks and allowed 19 hits.

After compiling a 3.38 ERA (3 ER/8.0 IP) in April, Sisco posted a 15.00 ERA (10 ER/6.0 IP) in May.

The White Sox will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow's game at Minnesota.

Hell yeah, about time. Bring up Fields and Broadway plz

weren't the red sox 10 games out in late july when arod ignited the red sox championship with his shenanigans?

that's actually a good comparison because the red sox were underachieving BIG TIME until that point. yanks need a good brawl. too bad no one on the yankees has a set big enough. maybe rocket's got some fortitude left.

Psssh, the Yankees don't want any part of the Red Sox. Dice-K has an army of 300+ pokemon ready to roll.

Guess he's one of the new members of "Red Sox Nation" or wasn't born yet in 2002 when the Red Sox started the season 30-13 and then failed to make the playoffs and finished 10.5 games back of the Yankees.

Oh and there's something called the Wild Card so even if Boston destroys the AL East a team can still make the playoffs from that division.

Hey now. I'm a Red Sox fan who posts in this thread, and I don't make myself look like an ass.

Ryan Freel looks like he might be pretty seriously hurt. Dad called and told me to turn to the Reds game and they're carting him off on a stretcher. He's been lying on the warning track for like ten minutes.

*waits for them to show a replay* :x

guys... Ryan Freel, CF Reds... I think just had a career-ending injury, could be paralyzed. This is serious.

EDIT: Well, the replay didn't look that bad, but his neck snapped. We'll find out.

Santana against the White Sox offense. This is a surefire recipe for success.

edit: That Freel play looked pretty bad =x

Any word on Freel? That shit looked terrible :-(

Reds' Freel Seriously Injured In Collision

Freel collided with right fielder Norris Hopper while chasing a fly ball in the top of the third inning and landed awkwardly on the warning track.

Freel, who is known for his aggressive and sometimes reckless playing style, remained motionless on the ground for more than 10 minutes before he was immobilized and placed on a stretcher.

Ken Griffey Jr. entered the game in right field and Hopper, who appeared to have injured his arm in the collision, took Freel's place in center field.

Freel was taken to a hospital for tests, but the Reds said he was able to move his arms and feet and spoke coherently to trainers.

What a surprise, chuck james has his best game of the season, but is taken out early for a pinch hitter that promptly strikes out. Bullpen proceeds to blow the game....this will be the first loss attributable to not having mike gonzalez available (should they lose)

Good win for the Bravos today. My friend and I were musing on this over the weekend- it's like they reversed the formula they've had for years, which was beating the shit out of bad teams and playing .500 or so against the good ones. Now we're beating the good teams (Mets, Dodgers, Pads and Brewers so far) and getting our asses handed to us by the bad ones (Nats and Phils).

Also, good to know Freel didn't do himself any permanent injury today.

He's hit in three straight, and one of the early shots in the first inning or so had him standing next to TP and talking, so I sincerely hope so.

it's ****ing memorial day and a bunch of teams have off? and most of todays games are at night? wtf?

Couldnt believe it.. didnt ESPN used to run a triple header or something on Memorial Day? The only game on for me today was the Cubbies/Marlins.. no different than normal.

So I think we're far enough into the season to have picks for Cy Youngs, right? If the voting is today, who wins it?

Obviously Peavy in the NL, but who in the AL? Beckett? Harens got the lowest ERA by a mile and the lowest WHIP.

Amazing that I could have the top 3 for both leagues Cy Youngs and still lose every pitching stat in my fantasy league.

Eminem said:
My vote for the AL would be Lackey.

8-3, 2.36 ERA and averaging over 6 innings per start.

Got Lackey as well. Beckett Lackey and Haren. Yes, my opponents are idiots.

No debate in the NL then? It's not like there is a category Peavy isn't leading.
