Man, not the biggest Baseball fan out there, but holy shit, HD Baseball brings forth the Uber Feelings down below. The SF/LA game in all it's glory. I can sit and watch that one dude in the crowd (behind homeplate, to the left) just sit there and look bored out of his mind!

Jason Jennings finally earns his money

Edit: Just got home, why do the Braves/Astros seem to play at least one 12+ extra inning game per year?

The key is to put Soriano on the DL and let him get some rest . All his innings are adding up quickly.

fixed

btw, anyone else realize that the tex/salty trade was neccesary only because of the other foolish trade of laroache for the eternally injured gonzalez?
The braves wouldve been satisfied with his numbers at first, and if we were still gonna move salty, It wouldve been for some much needed pitching. not to mention the savings in salary for the next years which wouldve allowed them even more room to get some free agents.

I appreciate braves management for what they have accomplished for the last 17 years, but there have been many boneheaded moves lately by the front office...

Soriano gets out of that inning if Rents turns the dp though.

yeah, but (april-june)Soriano wouldn't have gotten runners on base, much less given up the grand slam.

soething IS wrong with him, I assume its too much work compared to years past; he's been horrible for the last month+ with too many HR's given up....

I wonder if its possible that this year's team will have more blown saves than last year...a horrifying thought

I'm trying to be positive, but the 5 game lead by the mets just seems huge for a team with 3 starters (smoltz1, hudson1, james1/2, carlyle3/4, reyes -1/4)

So many missed opportunities this year once again will bite them in the ass before the season is over (the wickman blown saves for hudson stand out the most)

Chip just announced on the post game show that reyes was sent down and Cormier called up. He cant be any worse.

Loved the outing by Saunders. Looks like we have another solid starter!
I <3 Colonel Saunders but I have this horrible feeling the whole thing's going to come crashing down soon. Something about him doesn't really inspire confidence.

Very good for the league........bad for the Yanks.

Anyone else see that gigantic karma wave gathering off the coast of Yankee Stadium?

"The Yankees are great for baseball, especially when they're good. Anyone who doesn't believe that is incredibly short-sighted."

A new report paints a disturbing portrait of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner as a befuddled, bloated old man in "dreadful" shape who bears little resemblance to the once-feared Boss.

An apparently addled Steinbrenner, 77, repeatedly said, "Great to see ya," to nearly every question, no matter what was being asked by a longtime friend during a recent visit, according to an upcoming article in Condé Nast Portfolio magazine.

:(

First of all, I still would have pulled the trigger on LaRoche/Gonzo. Second of all, there were NO pitchers, starting or otherwise, that were worth Salty at the deadline. Third of all, Andruw is coming off the books next year so that frees up salary... but again, who is worth spending it on? Zambrano, but no one else as far as pitchers go. That's the problem with free agent pitchers... there aren't any good ones because teams will go to any length to lock up good pitchers long term because... there isn't enough pitching. So the Braves did the right thing trading for Tex, IMO. And *sigh* we'll have Hampton coming back again next year. Ugh.

Sucks for Renteria, hopefully he wont be out too long. Basically everyone got beat up in this game. Let's see if the Braves can regroup from this disappointing loss and get back into the race before they fall too far behind again.

I kinda agree now after the angry drunkeness from last night, it just hurts that salty/harrison/andrus/the other guys had to be traded because of Thormans ability to suck. Now really, who would've thought after last year that the braves would need MORE offense just because laroache is gone? Most everyone I heard from believed that the bullpen was great and that the offense would be too even without him.

So the Tex trade in my eyes, while beneficial, we had to give up a lot, while the thing that makes me more pissed off is that it wouldn't have been needed had the teams offense been performing as it was expected (andruw, 1st base, and even mccann with 70avg points less than last year).

I'm being a bit harsh, but the only way this trade will be worth it in my eyes is if either the braves win the WS this year or next year OR if they manage to sign Tex for the long term.

As for pitching at the trade deadline, I believe that both garland or buherle could've been acquired with the right bait (heck, even contreras....shudders), and a few rumors mentioned Millwood coming along with Tex, which makes me think he was available too. I can't really think of anyone else at the moment, but the package put together for Tex could've been enough to tempt many teams to give up a quality pitcher.

I believe that the money freed up from Andruw is going to be eaten up by salary increases to hampton, smoltz and probably someone else, (or so I've heard), so if you add up the 14 million or so that Tex will cost them next year, I don't think the braves will have much to spend unless Liberty media decides to increase the payroll....but yeah, maybe Hampton will be back healthy next year... lol

He's bound to regress to his actual performance level eventually.

(where are all you "omg you stole soriano" people? ****, I think even HoRam would help our team more at this time)

Quick lets reverse this trade before Ho goes against the Sox tonight. We will even through in Vidro in case you need a professional hitter.

Why in God's name do we have Anderson batting 5th?

EDIT - And for that matter, why is Newhan batting 2nd? This lineup is odd.

That's twice already that Anderson has cost us scoring opportunities by looking at strikes and swinging at balls.

Man, what's with all the Vidro hate? honestly the M's wouldn't be where they are today without him.... how bout you refocus that hate on sexson, who is useless and has a huge contract

Hasn't Zambrano always owned us?
I'm just glad he is out of the game,I mean I don't want the guy hurt but he is hard as **** to score a damn run off of.

Why Willie sat down Milledge today is amazing. Green should not be playing in this game.

Newhan,he can't catch a crutial fly ball that ties the game, now he can't get a crutial hit to have the Mets take the lead. If I'm Omar I release this dude. He's been bad all year.

Now Willie brings in Mota....oh shit. This does not look good.
Newhan can catch....holy shit.
