The Orioles are a joke. 30 runs dropped on them and now getting no-hit by a rookie? How do they still own the Yankess.? :lol

I somehow doubt ESPN would have broken off the Auburn game to show a pitcher throwing a no-hitter for any other team than BOS/NYY/NYM.

RIDICULOUS

They broke off college football for the Minnesota pitcher last night...

Imagine of Clay Bucholz was a Yankee. Their fans would already be projecting him to pitch 10 no-hitters in his lifetime, naming their illegitimate children after him and booking seats for his Cooperstown acceptance speech in 2031.

:lol

clay buchholz threw a no-hitter, that's what happened. phil hughes would have done this first if not for his hammy pull.

this will join the ranks of palmeiro's 1999 gold glove and bill mueller's batting title.

Damn Dodgers owned by Padres again...again and again.

Madres are the Doyers daddy and I don't see it changing at all this year. So they will get swept tommorow and again when they meet up for the last series. Doyers going nowhere but the Golf Course. =\

I don't think the Pads well sweep. Bills is going to give the Dodgers a good chance.

As shitty as we played tonight (ugh, we'd been hitting well lately.. first shutout since that string of awfulness I think), it was nice to see Meloan pitch so well. I'm a Jonathan and we're a rare breed these days, so I love seeing 2 on the Dodgers. Let's hope he can keep it up. :D

I hope Meloan is the real deal because they are going to need him for next year and this year year.

But you're forgetting about the 25 Cy Youngs he's going to win.

Well hypothetically he could have some major role in a World Series victory, wherein he becomes a folk hero.

But otherwise this is it for him.
Not hating on him or anything, but it's pretty much the truth

The Mets are making the playoffs by default.
Pretty much. I never thought I'd say it... but it's time to look forward to the post-Bobby era. We need a manager that won't put up with shit like Chris Woodward on his team, or take KJ out of the leadoff spot for no apparent reason.

Also, the Mets only competition for the division crown is Phillie... and we all know they'll implode in the last week. It's like a law of nature or something.

I missed Clay's no-hitter :(

It'll be nice to see him rocked his next start, but he should celebrate this a lot for now. He's earned it :)

I also see the Phil Hughes trolling is in full effect. Totally expected and inevitable of course, even if totally wrong.

How is this the apex of his career? He is one of the top prospects in all of baseball, not some fluke rookie who got lucky. This is just the start of something for him. A no hitter is nice, but hardly a cy-young or a big start in the playoffs.

Why do you think that?

Cox has a done a great job considering how shitty his bullpen is. Take all the games Atlanta blew from the 8th inning and on and add them as win and they'd be in first by a heavy margin.

No more shoulda coulda woulda. We haven't gotten the job done, period. Also, he's still not using the bullpen correctly- Moylan should be closing. He should have been closing a month ago.

Hey I could be completely wrong, but the first thing I thought when I heard about it was Anibal Sanchez.

Very similar situations, only one is a Red Sox rookie while the other was on the Marlins. Do you think we're going to see Sanchez in a Cy Young race anytime soon?

Clay is more highly touted prospect, but some of that, I think, is because he's a Red Sox prospect. Yankees and Red Sox prospects always seem to get overhyped a bit.

And again, I'm not saying he won't go on to have a very good career or anything close to that. I just rank throwing a no-hitter above simply starting in the play-offs, as far as career achievements go. He may end up starting in 20 play-off games in his career, but chances are he'll never throw another no hitter.
