I still say Gordon can go, but outside of that, we need the rest of our young core guys.
Blackace said:well if Kobe comes they won't get any shots anyways.. if I was Chi-town Gordon and Hinrich for Kobe.. all the way.. CD is playing well for you guys and could easily start at PG..
Eminem said:Duhon actually regressed horribly this year. I kind of want him to get cut, honestly. I'm not quite sure how he did get worse, since one would assume the longer you are in the league, the better you get... but Du was really awful this year.
I assume he meant after the trade if it happened.shibby said:How the hell can Sheridan say that the Knicks are championship contenders?:lol
Blackace said:but isn;t really a point.. if you did get Kobe he would see less shots...
Eminem said:We'd also lose our best defender in Kirk.
I mean obviously, it depends what the entire package would be. But I don't think Duhon is a worthy starter, Kobe on the team or not.
If Paxson is going to break up the core, I'd much rather try for KG over Kobe. But I honestly don't think he'll move many of the main guys we have right now.
Blackace said:Kirk is an underrated defender that is for sure.. but I think a lineup of
PG Duhon
SG Kobe
SF Deng
PF ???
C Wallace
looks great to me.. Bulls need a go to guy imo.. Kobe fits the bill

I'm just glad I don't have to make decisions like Paxson does, because man, he has so many options with this team right now.

I think either of these teams just pale in comparison to some of the past teams from the 82-98 era. Neither would hang with any of the Bulls, Lakers, Celtics, or Pistons teams - and runners up over the years like Utah, Seattle, Phoenix, etc would have probably smoked them. The league definitely needs an increase in great teams, and more balance in the Eastern conference. The draft situation is definitely not going to help matters.

It is a weaker conference, Bean would avg 40...but they would still have the problems scoring the ball, as they sometimes do now...their bench is horrible
And what would be their "window" with Lebron set to take over?
Oh, and he would have to face Arenas and Redd 4 times a year...O lord, that wont end well:lol
Blackace said:He doesn't cover Arenas.. so it will be the same as when they play the lakers.
Hollywood_mIRC said:MJ is right - the NBA NEEDS Lebron to succeed to bring fans interest up. Even with this Finals - its highly doubtful these Finals even match the interest of the Lakers Finals a few years ago. Lebron will draw a lot of interest, but Cleveland and San Antonio are very small cities - and San Antonio has the worst rap out of any Finals teams. The series over NJ in 03 was the worst rated ever recorded, and the 7 game series versus Detroit, even though it was close, was the 2nd worst from 82 to current behind the 03 Finals.

Of course you're gonna get burned when you only promote a handful of players that in the end are completely incapable of going far into the playoffs, let alone win anything of significance.
Like it was said in one of the last broadcasts between SA-UTAH. If the Spurs played a in a big market city, the league would've found the way to make them the league's savior a long time ago. But with the way the NBA works, they'll just continue to shove them aside to highlight a few plays. Meanwhile the ignorant fans will continue to frown on how boring the Spurs are and ejaculate at every single Kobe dunk while on his way to another first round exit.
The NBA got themselves into that hole.

The NBA has a lot of problems: too many games, too many teams, not enough talent, playoffs take forever, and horrible marketing.BatiGOOOOOOL said:What the NBA needs is to stop being such an individualistic league and start focusing on marketing the actual sport and teams and not the drama and showboating of a few of their stars. 1). Any team who has 4 consecutive years with a regular season record under .400 gets their NBA franchise rights revoked.
2). Any team who can't manage at least 20 wins in a single season gets relegated to the NBDL. If they can't win the NBDL championship the next year, then they didn't deserve to be in the NBA in the first place.
3). In the playoffs, go back to 5 game series for the first round and re-seed after every round.
4). Get rid of touch fouls, so the game flows better. Too many games get bogged down due to endless trips to the foul line.
5). Bring the NBA back on NBC and have TNT do *all* the cable broadcasts. ESPN should stick to televising high school cheerleading.
1) and 2) are absolutely retarded, unless this is some sort of joke...The Chosen One said:Five Simple Ways to Fix the NBA

Loki said:If I'm LA management, I refuse any offer from Chicago that doesn't include Deng. I'd ask for Deng, Gordon, Nocioni, and possibly a pick. If Kobe balks (as I imagine he'd do, since he wants to go to a team that has an immediate chance to win a title), I'd just sit on him and let him suffer in LA. Just on principle.
Kobe's ridiculous "no trade clause" unfortunately allows him to wield way too much power in this situation. No player should be able to essentially dictate the terms of trades to both teams involved.
AirBrian said:Isn't Kobe the only player in the league to have a "no-trade" clause?

What's the rule...eight years of service and four years with the same team?
Because that's the whole idea the NBA has imprinted in everyone's mind. If it's not fast paced, high flying, trash talking, chest thumping basketball, then it's boring.bionic77 said:The NBA has a lot of problems: too many games, too many teams, not enough talent, playoffs take forever, and horrible marketing.
But lets be honest. The Spurs are boring and people don't want to watch them. Nothing the NBA can do is going to change that. I think most people (not this thread) probably wanted to see the Suns win the whole thing.

If someone has watched the Spurs play during this postseason and found them boring, then there's a big problem with the perception of the sport, because that's basketball at it's best on both ends of the floor. Too bad a league about basketball doesn't care enough about the game itself to highlight that.
