I cannot wait to see how Mark Cuban will react if the Mavs lose to the Warriors, coached by Nellie and playing small ball.

I have to say that was one of the better NBA games I've seen in quite some time. I'm not really a GS fan, mostly just cause I've never payed much attention to them, but props to them and I hope that they go far because they seem to have alot of heart and skill.

confetti flies after Preseason games nowadays.. I can see it dropping from the skies after a win in the first playoff game in 13 years... suprised they didnt shoot fireworks and have strippers on poles

The NBA should immediately revoke the rights ABC and ESPN have in broadcasting their games. It's disgusting compared to TNT and the NBC of old. Just plain embarrassing.

Damn, that was a fun game to watch. We were really hustlin on Defense, so we had some great ****ing transition points.

Nice comeback game J-Rich. Very nice game.

The difference btw the Warriors and the Suns is that instead of 1 of 2 guys who can get their own shot off, 4 or 5 on the court can do that for GS. Very hard to defend...

With NASCAR now on ESPN/ABC, maybe they won't bother trying to win the network contract next year. Ever since ABC had the NBA contract, the ratings have sucked ass and that's because they show the same ****in teams every week with some BS story trying to attract the people that don't watch basketball.

NBA on NBC with random games on the USA network FTW!

The Warriors just wanted it more. Congrats Warrior fans. You guys deserve this.

Speaking about the game, the defense is pathetic. They can get to the paint at will. The Warriors are just too athletic. The mavs need to play a better zone and let the Warriors shoot jump shots.

I hope the mavs can figure out a way to bounce back on Sunday, but it's not looking likely.

I made posts couple weeks ago that the Mavs just weren't playing like they were before, but I didn't think they'd lose to the Warriors in the first round. I thought they'd lose to Yao and Tmac.

You guys can make fun of the mavs all you want. They deserve it. If Mavs lose on sunday, the series is over. If that happens, watch out Rockets/
The Mavs don't seem to handle adversity well. I thought last season they grew up in the Spurs series and were going to go on to win in the Finals, but despite being the better team they folded when they went up against some adversity.

Mavs need to get menally tough if they want to get back in this series.

The toughest guy on the Mavs, from a mental standpoint, is probably Jason Terry. Soon to be additional proof that the MVP award doesnt mean shit Nowitzki is definitely one of their weakest players in that department.

Cloudy said:
It's not mental. They do not have the athletes to play with these guys consistently...
The Mavs were up 2 games on the Heat and had a huge lead in the third quarter before they fell apart. They were the better team but they lost because they were not mentally tough.

No reason the same can't apply to this season. Or the next season, or the season after that...

You need some balls to win in the playoffs. It is too hard to just win with a bunch of soft jump shooters. That is the reason the Mavs and Suns probably won't be getting any rings any time soon. No matter how much attention they get in the regular season.

Basically.. I want TNT and NBC to get a renewed contract.

I dont know why people are mad at the NBA for wanting their name attached to ESPN Sports rather than NBC Sports...seeing as the money is/was the same for both contracts...who would you have aligned yourself to?

uh huh

With that said...

Only person they had anywhere close to being tuff was Finley.

NBC = Network Television

ESPN = Cable Television

Guess who has more viewers. NBA is wondering why they have less viewers.. Duh.

Only thing showing on national television is the Finals. You go from a NBA on NBC Double / Tripleheader to just the finals announced by Bob Costas and Doc Rivers.

meh.

The Mavs are done
So are the Suns. The Kwame Brown era has arrived and there is no stopping it. Now that he has learned how to catch a ball and dunk it at the tender age of 22 while being only 7 feet there is no telling how far he can go.

that would be hilariously awesome if this year's western conference became a story of how Nellie took apart both Dirk and Nash :lol

Golden State still seems like the Indiana State Warpacers to me with Steven Jackson and Harrington on that team, but I like how they're seriously putting up a fight against the mavs on the first round like this (the clips would be swept already even though they've only played 3 games :lol)

He might not score 19 more points for the rest of the series, so I doubt it.

Either way today was a glorious day for the Pistons and Spurs. Now their path to a rematch is confirmed

I hope to god it's not those two teams. After 1 or 2 games, I literally can't handle watching them.

Aren't the Spurs the oldest team in the league? If the Mavs can't come close to hanging with the Warriors (when they play this well), how could the Spurs? Shit, the Spurs can barely keep the Nuggets off their backs.

A Suns/Warriors series would be awesomely hilarious. Just non stop run and gun. Scores of 150+ I wish anyways.

They just funnel everyone to Tim B. Dunkin and let him go to work swating shots like so many flies. Seriously, is there anyone you'd rather have behind you on the defensive end than Timmah?

You must not like basketball. Both teams know how to play and really make the game a chess match. They're both very disiplined teams that always put on a clinic.

I love watching basketball.

I just find it boring is all, but it really is great basketball.

Watching the Suns run the Lakers off the court is definitely exciting, and yeah it's more exciting than the slow tempo Spurs/Pistons strategy, but I love them both. I loved seeing Duncan and Rasheed go at it, and I loved seeing how even slight defensive breakdowns could lead to big shots.

Although I can't stand them, Dallas is able to play both of those games effectively. But it looks like they've met their match - the teacher is poised to take out the pupil.

Why does Nowitzki seem to disappear in the playoffs?

The only series he dissapeared last year was the finals games 1-4, which was admittedly pretty huge. But we wouldn't have been in that position without Dirk. Remember game 7 of spurs or dropping 50 on the suns in game 5?

I'm not going to make any excuses. This team is really gutless. Mavs have been down 0-2 to the Rockets, losing both games at home, to eventually win the series. But at least in those games, they weren't outplayed like this.

The mavs can not stop anyone from penetrating. The warriors are just too fast and strong and athletic. They're simply the better team out there.

The mavs would probably win in a 7 game series against any team except the suns or warriors. Terrific luck we have that we draw the Warriors.

I recall him being pretty bad in the 2005 1st round series vs the rockets. We rotated the much smaller White Bowen and McGrady on him and he pretty much disappeared. Terry absolutely killed us though, the dude is just a stone cold killah.

The Mavs are just playing crappy. You can complain about their offense but I think the real problem is their defense has been terrible. If George and Buckner don't give us something defensively they might as well not play at all.

I attribute that to a good gameplan by Van Gundy. He played pretty well against the Suns in the next round.

Terry was the reason we lost that series...and finley out of bounce :P

The mavs need to play some kind of zone. I don't care if GS shoots jumpshots. I'd rather have them taking those than layups. No one can guard anyone straight up at the perimeter.

If the Mavs lose this series, it's time to make a deal for KG for Dirk.

:lol Jesus you must be the most pessimistic Mavs fan in the universe. That deal wouldn't help Dallas in the least, not that they need help yet. They're being doomed prematurely because they're down 2-1 to an underrated Warriors team that's not really an eight seed and happens to be coached by someone who knows the Mavs inside and out.

I do think Avery might be in a little over his head, I've never thought much of him as a coach, from the outside it looks like the Mavs are on autopilot most of the time and his coaching adjustments so far have seemed misguided and way too late.
