Kemp tore up the ball today, and D. Lowe pitched another great game. Also Penny is pitching tomorrow, so it another loss for the Dodgers.Meier said:Dodgers offense woke up AND the Noles made it to the Supers. Woo!

I could live with Kent hitting around .250 if we could just get Brad Penny back to last season's form.NomarTyme said:Well Saito and Broxton been struggling too. I say both of them combine probably cost the Dodger over 6-8 games. Also I think Kent is going to get better, I say he due to have good month.
Anyone with an OPS higher than .683 would be a better fit in the #3-4 spot.NomarTyme said:Actually the whole team weren't hitting with RISP, so we just blame one person in the lineup. I don't who else to put in the 3/4 position though, maybe Ethier/Kemp?
Baseball Tonight Clubhouse-ESPN.com said:Most pitchers will throw a pitch right down the middle on a 3-0 count because they know the hitter will be taking, and they're desperate to throw a strike. On Monday, that wasn't a smart strategy, as home runs on 3-0 counts were pivotal in three games:
Chase Utley continued his assault on major league pitching by homering in his fifth straight game (second such streak this season), helping the Phillies edge the Reds.
Casey Blake broke from a season-long funk with a huge game, bashing two home runs as part of a seven-RBI day in a slugfest triumph over the Indians. The second one came on a 3-0 offering.
Yunel Escobar, who had never hit a game-ending home run, delivered one Monday on 3-0 pitch to bail out John Smoltz, who blew a save in his return.
They often call the 3-0 pitch an "automatic strike" -- and it was just that Monday. Only in this case, it was a strike offenses could rip at. Before Utley, Blake and Escobar went deep Monday, only five homers had been hit all season on 3-0 pitches.
Code:Monday's key homers on 3-0 counts Chase Utley 5-4 win Of six hits on changeups, four are HRs Casey Blake 13-9 win Second career game with 2+ HRs, 7+ RBIs Yunel Escobar 7-5 win First career walk-off home run

they're too busy worrying about how John Paxson is going to fuck up the number 1 pick
So, the strangest thing happened in the eighth inning here tonight.
With the Phillies clinging to a 5-4 lead, Charlie Manuel brought in Tom Gordon to open the inning, and Reds manager Dusty Baker didn't choose to use Ken Griffey Jr. to pinch-hit for Ryan Freel, even though Griffey has six career homers in 48 at-bats against Gordon. There were only three possible explanations.
1. Griffey told the Reds he was unable to pinch-hit.
2. Baker was sleeping.
3. Farney had invaded Baker's head and was running the Reds.
Who's Farney?
Two seasons ago, Freel revealed to Cincinnati reporters that he has an imaginary friend named Farney, who he talks to on a regular basis. After making a diving catch against Albert Pujols, Freel said that even Farney couldn't believe he made the grab.
"He's a little guy who lives in my head who talks to me and I talk to him," Freel said. "That little midget in my head said, 'That was a great catch, Ryan,' I said, 'Hey, Farney, I don't know if that was you who really caught that ball, but that was pretty good if it was.' Everybody thinks I talk to myself, so I tell 'em I'm talking to Farney.' "
Dr. Strangelove said:Wow. I had no idea Ryan Freel was so awesome.

Damn.
Will the Rangers trade Hamilton back to the Reds for Ken Griffey Jr. and a player or two to be named later? Please? We need him back.
