:lol Love how Cashman doube edited the first post, then said "fuck it" and triple posted. Might as well-you would've been waiting for weeks for someone to care about the Rangers enough to post.

I may not care about the Rangers, but looking at Josh Hamilton's beautiful face gives me butterflies in my tummy

and then he found CHRIST! and then Jesus passed on the torch to him.

He, unfortunately, left it in his old locker, where a young bat boy named jay found it while sneaking into the clubhouse, when he unknowingly became:

TIGERBEAT BRUCEY. -The one true Messiah.

Might be tears when Adam Eaton makes Bruce go hitless*

*shit ain't happening.

Remember, I thought he would come back to Earth 3 days ago. I'm calling it, though: Bruce is hitless tomorrow. It HAS to happen.

I'm ordering a Montreal Expos hat right now.

Dodgers offense woke up AND the Noles made it to the Supers. Woo!
Kemp tore up the ball today, and D. Lowe pitched another great game. Also Penny is pitching tomorrow, so it another loss for the Dodgers.

Dear Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi,

You will not get a return on investment from Kyle Lynn Farnsworth. It's just not happening and never will. Ever. To put it another way, he should be banned from round ball athletic competition worldwide. If he comes into another close game ever again, someone is getting hurt.

Sincerely,
Yankee Fans Worldwide, Inc.

PS: What's a mother fucker gotta do to get a fly ball with a man on 3rd around here?!?!?

Oh hell Marmol just gave up a 3 run homer in the bottom 9th. :/

Cubs still up 7-6 close this shit down! Damn road games.

Edit: Jesus Barrett almost tied the game, Cubs hold onto win whew.

Why is Torre still hitting Jeff Kent (OPS .683) in the 3 or 4 spot in every game?

I just can't believe it. Sure, he homered today, but anyone can see that he should be hitting 8th, 7th at the very highest. But Torre keeps sabotaging the offense by batting him in one of the most important spots.

And you know, my predictions for the Dodgers at the beginning of the season were actually right on the money, except for the fact that I thought Brad Penny and Derek Lowe would replicate last year's success.

If Penny and Lowe were just pitching as well as last season, the Dodgers would probably have about five more wins right now, which would put them first in the NL West. Hell, maybe even more than five.

But Penny decided to be a fat, ineffective piece of crap this year, and Lowe remembered that he's not supposed to be a consistent pitcher, so that prediction went right out the window.

Edit: actually, Lowe's strong outing today lowered his ERA into respectable territory. Still nowhere near his last three seasons though.

Well Saito and Broxton been struggling too. I say both of them combine probably cost the Dodger over 6-8 games. Also I think Kent is going to get better, I say he due to have good month.

I could live with Kent hitting around .250 if we could just get Brad Penny back to last season's form.

Last year's Penny + last year's Lowe + Billingsley, Kuroda and Kershaw (if we average out his first two starts) would actually be a pretty formidable rotation. If we could get the Kershaw that his first start gave us a glimpse of, it would be downright scary.

And even if Kent is bound to improve, let him do it in the 7th spot. How many games have we seen this year where the 1-3 hitters all reach base 2-3 times each, but Kent goes 0-4 and doesn't drive anyone in?

His .683 OPS while batting primarily #3-4 is a big part of why we've stranded so many runners this season.

Actually the whole team weren't hitting with RISP, so we just blame one person in the lineup. I don't who else to put in the 3/4 position though, maybe Ethier/Kemp?

Anyone with an OPS higher than .683 would be a better fit in the #3-4 spot.

Apparently there were three 3-0 count home runs today. Kinda cool. I rarely see one, usually when a player gets a green light he gets himself out or doesn't swing.
Baseball Tonight Clubhouse-ESPN.com said:
Most pitchers will throw a pitch right down the middle on a 3-0 count because they know the hitter will be taking, and they're desperate to throw a strike. On Monday, that wasn't a smart strategy, as home runs on 3-0 counts were pivotal in three games:

• Chase Utley continued his assault on major league pitching by homering in his fifth straight game (second such streak this season), helping the Phillies edge the Reds.

• Casey Blake broke from a season-long funk with a huge game, bashing two home runs as part of a seven-RBI day in a slugfest triumph over the Indians. The second one came on a 3-0 offering.

• Yunel Escobar, who had never hit a game-ending home run, delivered one Monday on 3-0 pitch to bail out John Smoltz, who blew a save in his return.

They often call the 3-0 pitch an "automatic strike" -- and it was just that Monday. Only in this case, it was a strike offenses could rip at. Before Utley, Blake and Escobar went deep Monday, only five homers had been hit all season on 3-0 pitches.

Code:
Monday's key homers on 3-0 counts

Chase Utley 5-4 win Of six hits on changeups, four are HRs
Casey Blake 13-9 win Second career game with 2+ HRs, 7+ RBIs
Yunel Escobar 7-5 win First career walk-off home run

I am a bit bitter that UCLA got eliminated by CS-FU but I can probably do that. When does it start up?

Well just like when you lose to USC in football this was kinda expected.

Also I see what you did there. Fullerton is a strong respectable school filled with hot bitches who wont go out with me.

The Frankman said:
I just this right now and had to reply.

CPB: Where Chase Utley can lead the league in HRs.

Utley has been a lot better at home. He's hit 15 of his homers in CBP and only 6 on the road. Regardless, Chase is your lord and savior. Your decision not to accept that may prove to be hazardous to your health.

Going to the game tonight. Griffy hits 600 tonight off Eaton and Chase hits 22

Are there any Cubs fans on this board? You'd think they'd be crawling out of the woodwork (and by woodwork, I mean the out-of-market bandwagon)

they're too busy worrying about how John Paxson is going to fuck up the number 1 pick

So, the strangest thing happened in the eighth inning here tonight.

With the Phillies clinging to a 5-4 lead, Charlie Manuel brought in Tom Gordon to open the inning, and Reds manager Dusty Baker didn't choose to use Ken Griffey Jr. to pinch-hit for Ryan Freel, even though Griffey has six career homers in 48 at-bats against Gordon. There were only three possible explanations.

1. Griffey told the Reds he was unable to pinch-hit.
2. Baker was sleeping.
3. Farney had invaded Baker's head and was running the Reds.

Who's Farney?

Two seasons ago, Freel revealed to Cincinnati reporters that he has an imaginary friend named Farney, who he talks to on a regular basis. After making a diving catch against Albert Pujols, Freel said that even Farney couldn't believe he made the grab.

"He's a little guy who lives in my head who talks to me and I talk to him," Freel said. "That little midget in my head said, 'That was a great catch, Ryan,' I said, 'Hey, Farney, I don't know if that was you who really caught that ball, but that was pretty good if it was.' Everybody thinks I talk to myself, so I tell 'em I'm talking to Farney.' "

Farney...:lol

Well, I picked a good two weeks to be away from this thread. Man, the Indians are putting a historic display of offense putridity.

Here's a fun bizzaro 2008 stat:

Casey Blake

Bases empty - .141/.225/.228/.454, 4 extra base hits in 92AB

RISP - .478/.564/.957/1.520, 14 extra base hits in 46AB

Casey is the greatest clutch hitter in the MLB right now. This is after the 07 season, where he batted .190 with RISP.

This is why when people say "NINE TIME ALL STAR!" you have to lol.

And it's even sadder that this "counts"
