The best way to end your win streak is to have Marquis start.

Hahaha Marquis sucks.

If Detroit loses the White Sox will gain a game on the entire division, woohoo

I wish I could see this game. I hear Lou went out to the mound and berated Marquis like a 5 year old child. :lol

This was the message I got on AIM:

DAAAAAMMMNNNN

Pinella just came out, talked to Marquis, got up in his face, pointed to the bullpen, said some stuff and left.

------------------------

Someone Youtube this. I need to see it. Oh and please bring back Rich Hill and get rid of Marquis.

Pedro's velocity was pretty good, control was iffy but that's to be expected, especially with the cold. This long 5th is going to muddy the picture; did it affect him or were the batters on to him?

Promising first start, crossing my fingers for the next one.

Edit: I didn't think Willie would leave him in there for the sixth, but I guess you can do that when you're playing SF.

I think it was a combination of the long 5th and coming back from injury. Definitely a promising start. It's so good to have him back.

Heh.

Edit: Kemp ejected, so should Yorbid.

Doyers highlight of the year so far.

I was going to say maybe this will kick the Doyers out of full sopping wet panocha mode but it probably just pissed off the Rookies. Prepare for a meltdown!

one day ozzie is going to be like "man you know whose fault this is? carlos quentin" and quentin is just going to walk up and put his dick on his forehead and ozzie will melt like that witch of the west and then boom player-coach

<3 San Diego bullpen

Cubs were down 3-1 at one point. Now up 9-3 in the 8th. Damn this offense is good.

Oh and SD bullpen I salute you!

Oh and I'm glad the White Sox won.

I want them to stay in first place so the Cubs can crush them this month and help knock them out of first. Then I can see Ozzie cry again some more.

Hurry up Doyers, Just roll over and the game quickly.

Dbacks keep sucking but the Doyers keep 1upping them in the suck department. With the Chubbies coming it will be a bad bad weeked in Doyertown.

I hope Kent comes out and blames his season long slump on the Youngins childish antics. That would be the icing on the clusterfuck cake.

I don't think I've ever had a baseball boner as hard as I've got right now. Every single one of the games during this streak, we've come from behind. That's gotta be some kind of record.

Through 6 weeks, the TBS Sunday MLB game is averaging a .34 rating in Men 18-49, a .33 in Men 18-34 and an average audience of 658,000 viewers.

In comparison, Braves games on Sundays during the 2007 season (thru mid-May) averaged a .55 in Men 18-49, a .56 in Men 18-34 and 1.1 million viewers.

Also, for the full 1st quarter, TBS averaged a .53 in Men 18-49, a .60 in Men 18-34 and 1.0 million viewers.

So, this non-exclusive window not only falls short of what Braves games used to do, but it fares worse than what a movie or sitcom repeats would do.
Should have kept the Braves on TBS.

I don't think anyone even knows about TBS baseball. I used to watch braves games all the time...Now I just forget they show games.

Shitty marketing.

Sunday, June 1
1:30/12:30c - Florida at Philadelphia

Sunday, June 8
1:30/12:30c - Philadelphia at Atlanta

Heh.

TBS games are not exclusive. Both teams can and will televise the game to their regular markets.
.
ESPN Sunday Night and FOX Saturday games are exclusive broadcasts.
.
TBS can not change the start time of a game to a window with potentially higher ratings.
.
ESPN dictates Sunday Night start times (usually 8:00 PM EST). FOX dictates Saturday start times (usually 3:55 PM EST).
.
TBS does not have camera position priorities over the local rightsholders.
.
ESPN, on weeknight games, gets camera priority over local rightsholders in select positions including those adjacent to each dugout.
ha, ok this must be the reason for lower ratings. The games are not exclusive to TBS. Who would want to listen to a national broadcaster if you can listen to your team's broadcasters? Dumb deal if you ask me, I guess they only did it so they could get Postseason games.

so it's just out of market fans without mlb.tv that are watching?
Yeah I guess, also the fans that have extra innings are probably not watching either.

White Sox have been in first for quite some time, Ozzie has never really cried. It's been the fact that we're supposed to be an offensive team and yet our pitching has not only exceeded, but blown away the best projections anyone had and we're still only 5 games over because our offense is so fucking horrible.

1-3 hit well, 7-9 hit well...the heart of the order is beyond shitty so far. Thome and Konerko are literally dragging us down. TCQ has basically won us at least 5 games this year(and I know that's not what WPA or similiar stats say but I've watched nearly every game, this is true).

Anyway bob, since I don't post here that much anymore(making an avatar bet worthless), would you want to bet $10 paypal based on who wins each series between the Sox/Cubs? I'd totally be up for it and you know I'm trustworthy.

Braves have called a news conference for 11:30. Speculation is that Smoltz is going to retire. I'm in the process of fashioning a noose if true.

NOOO...just over the one bad outing, or what? Not even that big of a baseball fan, but I've always liked Smoltz.

Apparently he woke up yesterday with increased pain in his shoulder and it's now thought he needs surgery. Here's the article:

:(

I had a feeling this would be his last year, but I just wish that he could've made it through the year.

It's cool. I love Ozzie's rants. This is why I want to see another one. :D

I don't want to take your money. I'll be happy to see the Cubs crush the White Sox.

Lily vs Maddux tonight. Thank god Lily is going up against another mediocre pitcher (I'll always love ya Mad Dog but you are now over the hill) so the Cubs have a chance to win the game 11-9.

By the by what is up with all these 404 not found errors?

I sometimes have to catch up a couple pages in these sports threads and I can't finish them as I constantly get this damn errors.

Just a byproduct of running the servers on inferior CELL technology, I'm afraid.

oh shit...

Awesome game last night, I wish Griffey had played though. It would have been awesome to see him hit 600 in person. Whatev, we're in first place by 2.5 games bitches and smotlz is on the dl!!

Thankfully he didn't announce his retirement, but it's gonna be a tough road back from shoulder surgery at 41. I hope he doesn't go out like this, I'd love to see him come back next year and be the dominant pitcher he has been for the last few years.

Hell, Smoltzy can come back and throw that nasty knuckleball for all I care. I just want to see him keep pitching in a Braves uniform. At least so that he goes out on his own terms and not due to injury.

Okay, fantasy question time.

Proposed trade-

To me:

Nate McLouth
Jay Bruce
Juan Pierre
Conor Jackson
Howie Kendrick

From me:

Jose Reyes
Brandon Webb
Tim Lincecum

Now, in addition to McLouth and Bruce, this guy also has Hamilton, Quentin, Ryan Braun, and Granderson. How much should I bet on Jay being PHENOM for the entire rest of the year? Should I try to go for one of the sure thing OFs instead?
