When is Phelps' next phelpsium medal competition?
He's got a day off, then 200m Individual Medley tomorrow, 100m Butterfly day after, 4x100m Medley Relay day after that. I don't know how the heats fit in around that.

Korea/fake China archery match last night was epic. The crowd was ooooooooooooo-ing when the fake China player hit 10s.

At least they're more spaced out than yesterday :lol

This will be epic if he can pull off 8 phelpsiums in one Olympics

Gasol: 'If you put it in the wrong context I can see how it would be offensive.'

WTF? What's the right context? The couch himself said if he played a tall team they'd stand on their toes... presumably to make fun of them. If the host was Senegal would they all do black face?

:lol

The Spanish are so insensitive.

and btw olympic boxing is awesome, although china is getting such bullshit scored in their favor!

So, who's the CBC hyping up now? After the embarrassment from yesterday, I can't imagine that they'd continue to hype our mediocre chances at a medal. I'm probably giving them too much credit.

Luis Aragones, the head coach of Spain’s men’s soccer team, was overheard telling his player Jose Antonio Reyes to “tell that black (expletive) you are better than him” at a training session in 2004. Aragones was referring to Thierry Henry, a black player from France who was then a teammate of Reyes at English Premier League club Arsenal

a group of Spanish fans believed to be supporting home driver Fernando Alonso were pictured with their faces covered with black paint. They wore T-shirts with the slogan “Hamilton’s Family,” a reference to Alonso’s world title rival Lewis Hamilton, a black Englishman.

:lol spain doesn't have time for any pc bs

Are you talking about Zou Shimin? He's supposed to be really good and has a good chance of winning gold. Crap, have to finish some work.

Yeah, it's on USA, too.

I wish the networks would say how MUCH of each sport they're going to cover since sports are on simultaneously.

USA Network says "Basketball (USA vs. Greece), Baseball, tennis & beach volleyball" from 2am to 12pm. Tennis matches won't start until 4am and basketball starts at 8am. I wonder if they'll show any tennis at all, given that I don't know when baseball and volley ball will start.

I've given up on trying to make sense of Olympic boxing scoring, but at least from what I can tell this is at worst a slight home slant.
This ain't Roy Jones Jr. in '88 level bullshit.

Olympic boxing had it share of controversies and Roy Jones Jr. vs Park Si-Hun was probably one of the biggest robberies I've seen in any sport*, but it's not nearly as bad the likes of gymnastics.

* Technically it's #2, every win by the Pats is tied for #1. Yes, I'm biased, bite me.

There have definitely been other comparable scandals, but there was just something about my watching the judging throughout those Olympics (leading up to the Jones fight) as a kid and when I saw the Jones fight I just thought "fuck this shit" and I stuck by that.

Baseball and Volleyball started already

and 4am is the time Tennis is live.
Baseball starts around 7am for the US team.
USA has been mostly horsies, kickball, and beach volleyball during the overnight but the online stream still poops on the tv coverage

For those of you that have Comcast Digital cable, there is a section on the On Demand area where they have replays of some of the events. There are also some stuff from the Athens games too.

Women's softball and 8 mens rowing is the only talent I see Canada having that truly has a shot at the podium. CBC is getting very desperate. I don't blame the athletes, Canada does not support the athletes like they should plus we don't exactly have a winning mentality going into the Olympics either....More like 'just try your best' nothing wrong with that, but doesn't exactly get you on the podium.

Any sport that has judging is complete bullshit to me as human bias will always be a factor when judging. The Olympics are especially worse because of all the scandals that happens. Even when the judges are caught red handed they get a slap on the wrist and by next Olympics there judging another sport. Boxing truly is disgusting to watch, I remember a few years ago one Canadian boxer CLEARLY was out boxing his opponent, I mean it wasn't even close and he lost.
