Sabean needs to chill. There was no malice involved, Cousins thought Posey had the ball and did what any other baserunner would have done. Posey needs to man up, quit being a little sniffling bitch and accept Cousins' apology.
Didn't he? I thought Posey himself didn't think much of the play.

Isn't it funny that 2 days later Doumit broke his ankle on the same play and no one gives 2 shits?

Damn death threats being sent to Cousins. Stay classy Giants fans.
Same group of Giants fans that got one of their own kicked in the head? Oh the ironed knees. I was coming in here to see what people thought of it. Seems Giants up mad cuz their boy got rolled. Seems like a stretch.

LOL, I was just watching some Nationals videos and noticed Mike Morse sounds exactly like John C. Reilly.

Not what I expected from how he looks.

You can listen to it here.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are widely known to be in financial hot water.

But seven other major league teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers, are out of compliance with MLB rules regarding debt, the Los Angeles Times has reported, citing three anonymous sources familiar with a confidential briefing presented at last month's owners meetings.

...

Other teams named in the owners' briefing were the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins and Washington Nationals.

I'd love to see someone try to retaliate on Scott Cousins. Mike Stanton and Josh Johnson would crush anyone on that team in a real fight.
The Beard would break both.

Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times is reporting that nine MLB teams are currently in violation of debt service rules:

1) Dodgers
2) Mets
3) Orioles
4) Cubs
5) Tigers
6) Marlins
7) Phillies
8) Rangers
9) Nationals

The regulations came into being in 2002's Collective Bargaining Agreement and are intended to limit a team’s debt to ten times its yearly earnings and ensure that each team can pay its bills.

MLB executive VP of labor relations Rob Manfred says he isn't "concerned about the overall economic condition of the industry" and a National League executive called the high number of teams out of compliance a "hiccup" for an otherwise healthy league.

Along with the competitive balance tax and revenue sharing, the debt service rule figures to be a major financial issue in the negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the players and the owners.

I'm surprised I never got around to watching it until now but I just saw eight men out, the movie about the 1919 World Series. Great movie. It's on Netflix btw.

The braves should automatically win the NL East since they are the only team that can manage its own finances.

I saw that shit in the theatres like 22 years ago!

Marlins and Nats are still paying off their new stadiums, I don't think that should count. Mest and Phillies, on the other hand...

Yeah, the Mets are definitely not paying for their new stadium....

CASH UP FRONT!

Huh, for some reason I thought Citi Field was a lot older than it is. Then again, I didn't start actually following baseball till like three years ago.

Come to think of it, CBP was also built in like '04... so the Braves are the only NL East team that doesn't have a new stadium to pay for.

Seriously?

You're into Sabermetrics and shit, suspected you were a long time fan of the sport because of it.

Nope, other than vague memories of the Orioles on TV when I was a kid I didn't start following baseball until the '09 season. I didn't really follow any sports other than basketball until '08.

Braves lineup

1. Schafer CF

2. Prado LF

3. Jones 3B

4. McCann C

5. Freeman 1B

6. Uggla 2B

7. Gonzalez SS

8. Mather RF

9. Lowe P

Is tonight the night Uggla breaks out of his slump? I gotta believe it is that magical night. Freeman gets on and Uggle hits a double.
Chipper Jones is only hitting .190 at Citi Field in 13 games.
Dave Shultz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution had an interesting breakdown on Chipper's batting so far this season.
Chipper with runners in scoring position:

Batting .442 (19-for-43) with five doubles, one triple, no homers and 26 RBIs

Chipper without runners in scoring position:

Batting .204 (30-for-147) with 11 doubles, no triples, four home runs and five RBIs.

Here’s what he said on the subject the other night:

“I don’t even want to look at them with the bases empty,” Jones said of his numbers. “It’s pretty much all I’m basing the rest of my season on is being able to hit in the clutch. And it gives me some confidence. It’s no secret I’ve been struggling a little bit. Hopefully it starts to carry over because left-handed I’ve really been fighting it.”

Interesting to hear a likely Hall-of-Famer talk about confidence, isn’t it? But it’s true. Everybody needs it.
Are you ready Frankman?

If you mean for Reyes to continue his hot hitting, sure.

EDIT: Lineup

1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Justin Turner 3B
3. Carlos Beltran RF
4. Jason Bay LF
5. Daniel Murphy 1B
6. Angel Pagan CF
7. Josh Thole C
8. Ruben Tejada 2B

Haha, edited before I could note that they're right around where they should be.

Given the injuries, lack of depth at key postions, poor defense, middle of the road pitching staff, and bullpen which is assembled out of nothing but fire and gasoline, it's not too shocking. Currently 8 players from the opening day roster are on the DL. 15 players have been called up from Rochester.

Who wants Delmon Young and Carl Pavano?

The actual most amazing thing about that list is how low Baltimore is. JangoCube, you might want to bail out now before the Showalter effect disappears.
