lolol they're at yankee stadium.

and yankee fans blow ass. everyone probably doesn't give a shit about this year's team - nothing really to get excited about. no big superstar off-season signing, missed out on cliff lee, so fans dont show up.

a lot of people have wisened up to the fact you can grab 3-5 dollar tickets in good locations 2 hours before the game and that's what most fans are doing.
Lmfao, what makes it even more funny is that you are serious.

i went to 18 games last year. how many you go to?
Does it even matter, you are making ignorant ass assumptions, you speak for yourself.

A late night Sunday game and downpours all day what do you expect?

that's funny. i believe it was 50 degrees and sunny today.

oh i don't necessarily run any regressions or anything, and evidence i have is anecdotal, but i'm willing to bet im more right than wrong.

obviously attendance will pick up as it gets warmer, but i doubt it's going to rise much-- probably max out at 45k for non-premiums.

Tali I think it will get back to normal if not 95% the warmer weather will do it, the stadium should be bustling soon enough.

The biggest issue are those high priced seats lol

no, the high priced seats are not the issue.

there was no raise on the mid-tier sections this year. a 20 game package can be had for 200-500 dollars. affordable.

cept no one buys it when they can just go on the secondary market and pop one for any game they want.

Seats which had been slashed from $325 to $235 will remain unchanged, as will many other seats in the field level. Toward the outfield, tickets that had been $100 will rise to $110, and tickets that had been $75 will go up to $80.

Upper deck prices remain unchanged. Bleacher seats that had been $12 increase to $15, while $5 bleacher seats remain the same.

Lonn Trost, the team's chief operating officer, said 53 percent of the non-premium seats remain unchanged next year. To determine prices, the team examined the resale amounts of tickets on StubHub.com.

"We're not trying to take away the ability of fans to make a profit when they resell tickets," he said, "but the ones where we raised prices were not selling for just above face, but were far above face."

More On The Yankees

Want to get the scoop on everything in pinstripes? ESPNNewYork.com has you covered. Blog

The 1,704 non-premium seats in the two sections on each side of the Delta suite -- sections 216-217 and 223-224 -- will remain unchanged after increasing from $100 to $125 last year. Seats on the main level that had been $100 will rise to $110, and remaining main level seats will go up $5 each to $50, $65 and $80.

Fans willing to make multiyear commitments, however, can get lower prices, Trost said. The $260 seats drop to $240 next year with a three-year contract, $230 with a five-year contract and $220 with a 10-year contract -- with the provision they can rise 4.5 percent annually.

"You have price protection and price certainty," he said.

There are plenty of seats in the new stadium that are cheap. The problem is not a lot of people is interested in seeing them.

Why are you guys responding to Tali like he's a Yankees fan?

He's right about attendance and second-hand tickets, it's pretty obviously down from the last year or two and same-day tickets are available for a couple of bucks. The weather has been shitty but it's been shitty in April in plenty of other years, too.

*shrug* I suspect attendance is down for baseball this year in general, so all baseball fans suck, I guess.

I was expecting something to go horribly wrong at some point during the twins game today, but they miraculously held it together. Let's make it so winning isn't so surprising eh boys?

Man I'm looking at how bad the O's offense has been lately, and I really want to start Liriano tomorrow....but he's burned me so horribly so far.

Kenshin Kawakami has a 7.59 ERA in AA.

Hmph.

On the flip side: C. Perez 6 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 9 K, W (1), 2.40 ERA

There are too many stickies now.

There will be only 1 more after 2 weeks from now. I dont think 1 more is really that big of a deal.

Edit: Speaking of minors, I wonder how long before Rudy Owens name starts to push for a place in the rotation

1. it's april.

2. it's a recession; people don't have money or jobs to go to baseball games.

3. gas prices - and subsequently, the prices for virtually everything else - are high. you can't even afford to drive to the city to not attend the game. you can't afford the diapers to put on your baby to drive to the babysitter so you can drive to the city and not attend the game. and if you were lucky enough to actually go to the game, you can't afford the concessions

4. the yankees haven't played those lightning rod series yet - no angels, no red sox at home, no mets, etc.

the attendance will round into form eventually, especially as jeter does and the narrative changes into the quest for 3,000 hits. give it time. the yankees would be wise to cut the costs of concessions, though.

like, a lot.

When did the blue jays go all tarded?
When they started looking at their first 7 losses and saying "Oh, we only lost 5 of those by 1 run. Could have easily gone the other way and we'd be 12-2."

In other words, they started believing their excuses. Now they'll start losing by multiple runs per game and the run differential they've been clinging to as indication that they're playing well will disappear.

The other answer is that their starters aren't that good and bullpen fatigue has finally caught up to them. They've also faced an onslaught of some of the best pitchers in the league... but hey, those are excuses too.

why is corey patterson batting 2nd
he's fast and i guess he can bunt

edit: also, he sucks and the #2 spot is a manager's favorite spot for shitty players. Oh look he just struck out on 4 balls.

It's true--advanced stats make you not play the game the right way.
Hey, I'm just going by what I heard right from the mouth of John Farrell in an interview during yesterday's game. I couldn't believe he made light of the fact that they lost so many close games. If anything, close losses are worse because those were winnable games and your team choked in the clutch.

he was just trying to stay positive. I always hate when managers criticize how they are playing through the media.
