Nice win. Glad you had twenty fans in the stands to watch.
The game was delayed an hour and it's been raining for almost the entire month.

If the weather ever gets decent, attendance will pick up a lot. They had almost 100,000 for the Indians/Reds series this weekend.

I figure it's kinda impressive considering the area was in a tornado warning at the start of the game.
Not really a valid excuse.

You haven't sold out a game...Cleveland used to have that shit in the bank.

In the 90s, when the economy was significantly better and the Indians were consistently good year in and year out.

You've got to understand - Indians fans are very skeptical of the team ownership. We get good, then struggle a bit, and the Dolans hold a fire sale and get rid of all our good players. We traded two Cy Young winners two years in a row. It's hard to regain fans' trust after shit like that.

While you're winning these close games it's all good. Eventually you'll start losing them as much as you're winning now if you keep cutting it close. We'll see what they have then. But tonight Boston lost this more than Cleveland won it. Fucking Bard, just cos your one pitch goes at 95+mph, doesn't matter if it always goes 100mph off the guy's bat to the wall as well...every time I see him he looks like he's shitting himself once he gets behind in the count. At least he isn't DK though...

This is baseball. Regression happens, and the playoffs are by and large a crapshoot. The biggest thing the run differential does for you is make it likely that you'll win a lot more games and be a lock for the playoffs. But I'm not disputing the efficacy of run differential in predicting record, I'm disputing the importance you're putting on their well above .500 record in close games. That simply has no predictive value whatsoever.

That's not what I'm saying at all.

Of course it doesn't PREDICT what will happen. I'm saying they win games big, close, clutch, late, bizarre, all kinds of ways. Would you rather face a team in the playoffs that came in with 100 wins from just smacking homers all over the place, or one that you can't seem to predict and finds new ways to win ballgames every day? That to me is what would make a team like them "scary" in October.

So that clutch hitting in the bottom of the 8th was just Boston being incompetent and not the Indians coming through late in the game for the umpteenth time this season?

I hate it when people say stuff like this.

I wouldn't care, I'd just like to get to the playoffs with my team. Since this is baseball, I know that the difference between a 90-win and 100-win team isn't great enough that you're going to be more than the slight favorite. And since we're facing the Indians, I've been lucky enough to reach the World Series, which means we've got pretty much a 50-50 shot at a championship. That said, I would definitely prefer to face the team with the lower run differential, if that's what you're asking.

Sounds about right to me. Also luck, random variance, and of course small sample size.

Bard pitching. Yeah to me it was incompetence. Bard has one good pitch, you catch up with it and you can knock it anywhere. But anyway it doesn't matter, it was good win for the Injuns. Frustrating that we couldn't take top spot when it was there for us.

Of course Figgins wrecks things.

Though he did hit a liner.

I still want him to go on the DL.

Cabrera better start sucking or he'll be on the trade block real quick! I was talking to a friend who is a Boston fan who has been down on the Sox all year. He hates the Indians. I said not to worry, as all the good Indians will be on the Sox in 4 years, anyway. :/

Holy fuck. Carlos Peguero has been clutch as FUCK lately and he is just a Rookie called up from AAA to fuck Milton Bradley.

And way to go Wedge for pinch running Smoak and Saunders stealing that KEY ass base.

Bard has been doing this shit all year, it wasn't clutch hitting, Bard can't handle the pressure. It's Francona's fault too for pulling Bucholz. The man on 2nd got there though a tough at bat and what easily could've been a double play ball had the bat not shattered. Clay was not having many problems at all, and again the Sox put entirely too much faith in Bard.

I would like to propose that the M's just drop Figgins and Bradley permanently.

Seems like haters are gonna hate on the best team in baseball. Good pitching and hitting over 40 plus games is no fluke. The Indians are a complete team and barring anymore injuries they are going to contended all year.

Indians fever be a believer Cleveland Indians!

So, basically what you're saying is that the Cleveland Indians does not suck?

Another amazing comeback for the Indians. Hard to believe there would be a season that could eclipse 2007, but this one is shaping up to do just that.

Just hope Perez can keep his shit together. If he fails, that bullpen could become a mess.

Well he got out of it luckily. If it had gone the other way, well, you could blame the umps all you want, but there is no excuse to be giving up game winning hits to Jason Repko.

Ah fucking Figgins time :(

edit : Welp walking him. Wish it was Smoak and not Luis. But Luis bit the Jays in the ass earlier ... maybe he can do the same to the Twins.

I heard he went to Japan just for personal business. He'll see Yocum, he'll say surgery, the club will go with it and that'll be the end of DK in a Red Sox jersey. I can't see him coming back to pitch for us if he has the surgery. His contract's up at the end of 2012 right? The way he's been, I'd drive him to the airport for the flight to wherever he wants to play as long as it isn't Boston at the end of the deal.
