I know it increases their value, but the Posey and Mauer stories should be a warning: If your cornerstone, franchise hitter is a catcher....stop playing him at catcher.

I think it's too early for this, with both guys. I think Mauer is going to get the V-Mart rotation into 1B & DH starting next year and ramping up as the contract goes along, but I still think he and Posey can both catch many innings and be fine.

Jose Coronado of the Binghamton Mets hit into the craziest of double plays. Unfortunately not video exists.

first baseman Chris Parmelee to catcher Daniel Rohlfing to shortstop Chris Cates to pitcher Brett Jacobson to third baseman Deibinson Romero to first baseman Chris Parmelee to catcher Daniel Rohlfing to shortstop Chris Cates to center fielder Joe Benson. Allan Dykstra out at home. Eric Campbell out at 3rd.

Nothing quite like an old fashioned 3-2-6-1-5-3-2-6-8 double play.

Or just wait until they become mediocre.

Fucking Juan Rivera. Fuck.

Dump this guy. Seriously.
Nobody was going to beat Pierre to the bag, but yes, he should have held that.

Edit: Well, that was another late-inning shitshow. Time to call up Lawrie, Jays 3Bs haven't had a hit in 11 days (35 ABs).

R.A. Dickey is wearing a protective boot on his right foot.

The team has ruled out an injury to his Achilles tendon, but he will be examined at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York tomorrow.

BTW Giants ain't repeating now. They need to make a trade to get some offense.

It's not about how much offense we have, it's about how THERE'S TOO MUCH MAGIC HERE.

We aren't repeating a damn thing unless we get some offense. :3

According to the Associated Press the DUI and reckless driving charges against Derek Lowe have been dropped by the prosecuting attorney in Atlanta “for a lack of evidence.”
Uh... huh...

If I may submit my opinion on the catcher issue: I think it sucks that they have to put themselves on the line, and that if he tried to move out of the way like a second baseman, he would be called a pussy and ridiculed. Plus, it wouldn't be that effective... but what can you do? It's baseball. If you block the plate, you deserve to get hit. All catchers are prepared for the consequences of blocking the plate, but they do it anyway. I wish we could make the game safer, but I don't know what can be done. Maybe no head-first slides into home? Nah, fuck that shit.

Yep, would be a repeat of the Josh Hamilton incident earlier this season. I wouldn't do anything, no rule changes. Just remind catchers, its one bloody run in a mid season game. You don't have to guard the plate on every single play like that.

Yeah, Josh Hamilton then went on to make Home-a-phobic slurs against his 3rd base coach, but he knew the risks when he went in there.

I think both sides (offense, defense) need to evaluate if the risks are worth it. Still, I think Adam Dunn slamming into you would suck. Luckily, baseball guards against this, as he would have to make it to third base for such an event to happen. trollface

Woo white sox, I don't care how they score either hawk

Missed the game:(

Anyone do anything worth a shit???

It doesn't seem like it but while I wouldn't usually say this, the Sox have plenty of time to make some ground on the Indians(who I don't think can keep up the early pace despite having a nice ballclub).

There's not a whole lot of positives this year besides Konerko being Konerko and for the most part, decent pitching.

If I'd have to sum up the start for the Sox, it'd be "John Danks is the WORST pitcher on the staff????" "Really????"

Holy crap David Einhorn was in the 2006 World Series of Poker.

Other injury news was equally as sobering.

First baseman Ike Davis is eligible to return from the DL, but his sprained left ankle has not improved and Davis was unable to step on a field in Port St. Lucie, Fla., the past two days.

Third baseman David Wright (stress fracture in back) has resumed exercising but is a couple of weeks away at least.

Center fielder Angel Pagan, who landed on the DL April 22 with a strained left oblique, is expected to be activated Friday. Collins suggested Fernando Martinez likely would be demoted to clear roster room.

Wow...the Mets are a walking MASH unit right now. :(

They aren't doing all that bad considering, though...if the NL East wasn't such a thugged-out division, they could still make things interesting.

Is this an onion piece? I dont see how stuff like this can be real:

"If these idiots want to wait an hour on line for a mediocre burger and I can make money on it, I'm all for it."

The part about Cindy Lou Who was amazing. I cant imagine any asian player signing with the Mets again if he really said that.

Please scroll to the bottom of the list.
