When your starting pitcher goes the distance and your team loses 1-0 on an unearned run after an errant throw by your best defensive player, you will be salty too.

Oh wow I was in class so I didnt see the game...good thing

so..youk is bad at third base? i'm seeing negative fielding on #6orgraphs
Serviceable, but ultimately bad. He gets to the ball normally and can make the stop just doesn't always make the glove.

Hey I can do this! Sign me up!

They are but Giants are killing too..Just check standings.....7 in a row..No Corran or Xia bragging?
Didn't want to risk jinxing the streak, not that it matters now with the loss last night.

Not really. I mention it... all the time.

If I remember correctly, a college student working the front desk at a hotel in or near Vancouver?
Did you make it down to Seattle to watch a Braves game?

That's a stalkerish amount of detail.

You had a post last year where you said you were going to miss a game because after class you had to work the front desk.
In another post you said you went to school in Vancouver.
Not stalking, just memory.

Well, at least Fredi Gonzalez acknowledges the two things I had concerns about after yesterday's game. Hopefully he will actually do what he says he will do.

Does Venters just seem a little fatigued?

“I think so. Roger and I have spoken about that already today. It maybe something that, without giving any secrets out, we may give him a couple of days. It’s something that we’ve got to manage it a little bit. And we’ve spoken about that. I hate to say anything about it because everybody reads the paper and you don’t want to give any secrets away to [the opponent in] the next series that’s coming up. But yeah, it’s something we’ve spoken about.”

“Not concerned about it, but we may have to give him a couple of days, just to recharge. He’s got, what, 46 appearances counting today? We may have to back off a little bit. He’s too valuable for us and we want him for the long haul.”

Had he already warmed up today, is that why you went ahead and used him in 5-1 game?

“What was it, 5-1? A 5-1 game and you had those left-handers coming up. We had Linebrink going just in case we popped another one [in the top of the eighth], and give Linebrink an inning. We didn’t and it was a 5-1 game, so go ahead and run Jonny out there.”

But you’re not saying he’s hurt?

“No, no. He’s fine. But we don’t want him to get to that point. So we’re going to have to manage that a little bit better, for our part.”

On Schafer taking catches in gaps in front of other OFs

“That’s when you run into trouble having three center fielders out there. You get guys that cover a lot of ground, and that’s something we need to talk to those guys a little more about, when you’ve got McLouth, and Schafer and Heyward. But it’s a nice problem to have, when you’ve got three guys out there that can cover a lot of ground.”

Bitch, Joe Mauer sucks.

Red-Hot Mets Lineup brought to you by Skittles:
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Jason Pridie RF
3. Carlos Beltran DH
4. Daniel Murphy 3B
5. Angel Pagan CF
6. Jason Bay LF
7. Lucas Duda 1B
8. Josh Thole C
9. Ruben Tejada 2B

Damn, just heard about Willie Harris' newborn baby passing away. Horrible news. Martinez will join the team while Harris' on the bereavement list.

Funny, there are alot of similarities between Mike Pelfrey and Justin Verlander:

1) They are both 28 years old and both throw hard, except Verlander's fastball has movement and misses bats.
2) They both have good hooks, except Verlander didn't scrap his.
3) They both are horses that can go deep into games, except Verlander actually does do it because he usually is unhittable.
4) They both are mentally tough...

Rony Paulino had caught Mike Pelfrey the last 3-4 starts. Made him pitch inside, and he hardly walked anyone those starts.

Josh Thole catches Mike Pelfrey for the 1st time in awhile: Three 1st inning walks, not pitching inside at all. And you wonder why I rag on Thole's gamecalling.

We just ain't ready for prime time. Even if we manage to take the division, we're likely just a stepping stone for our first-round opponent. So much for "All In".

Thank God playoff games aren't all on the road.

i don't know why it took me so long to try this but i have mlb.tv open in two different browsers (chrome, IE). Can watch up to 8 games at once! (shame there are only 3 on right now though).

Right now i am watching both broadcasts of each game lol.

lol damn. Thought Brewers would prove a challenge to the Yanks before they came to Citi Field.
I thought the same thing. I admit I haven't seen much of the Brewers this year and I didn't think that Wolf would do anything noteworthy in this start but I thought for sure that the Brewers with their starting pitching and offense would do better than what they've shown these past three games. Having beaten Marcum and Greinke is awesome. I'd have loved to have seen Gallardo as well this series.

Before the season I said to my irl beisbol friends that I liked the Brewers coming out of the NL, but they've disappointed the past two weeks after they righted the ship from the beginning of the season. I still like them, but it's harder for me to see them taking out the Phillies or Giants.
